Kutas Not Currently Dropping or Drop Rate Greatly Reduced?

Let me preface this by saying that I work as an analyst, and sometimes my work carries over to my gaming, so bear with me. I tend to track statistics such as the drop rates for Kutas and Rekutas, because if the ratios are too low, then I don't bother, and simply purchase those items instead. Previously, I've been seeing approximately a 14% drop rate (14 per 100) for Rekutas and approximately a 7% rate (7 per 100) for Kutas. That was up until Homestead launched. Since installing the new patch, I have looted 113 Runestones which has netted me 15 Rekuta (13.27%), and ZERO Kutas. I am going to continue farming until I hit 200, and will update at that point. In the meantime, has something changed with the addition of Mundane Runes, that has affected Kuta drop ratios? @ZOS_GinaBruno

I'm actually getting more Kutas as of late ...

The part the analyst in you is missing is that RNG does not equal guaranteed return.
Especially with ZOS RNG which isn't actually pure RNG ...

So what you're saying, is that you're the one snapping up all of the Kutas??? I challenge thee to a duel!

On the serious side, I understand how the RNG works (to a certain extent...) however the 7%/14% is an average over many hundreds of Runestones. It's common to see fluctuations, however a drop to absolute zero generally indicates a problem!

I've gotten 10 in the last 2 days, 5 from different rune nodes and 5x in a single heavy sack.
I didn't farm nodes either, maybe around 50 nodes or so.

Usually RNG hates me so i'm not complaining.

Wow! ... I had no idea that the drop rate for Kutas was that high. Indeed, they have been so rare that I didn't believe any runestone nodes dropped them at all -- until one time a Kuta happened to be one of two or three runestones that were collected from a node. I can't recall another time since that a Kuta has been found, whether during regular foraging sessions lasting at least an hour each during the 2+ years that I've been playing ESO, or incidental gathering while completing quests.

Ordinarily, my characters have acquired Kutas as part of the payoff for completing and delivering an Enchanting Crafting Writ. Although I haven't kept a record as to their frequency, 5 - 7% seems to be about right for that source. They have been in payoffs since the Homestead update but I haven't noticed any increase or decrease in frequency.

Which leads to a question for @ZOS_GinaBruno @ZOS_RichLambert : Does accepting and completing Enchanting Crafting Writs affect the drop-rate of Kuta runestones for the player in other contexts?

As far as I know, neither Mundane Runestones nor any other Furnishing materials are included in payoffs for Crafting Writs. I have found those while foraging since the Homestead update, but not very often. Changes made in Patch 2.7.7 will make them even more rare.

As to the "RNG", I doubt that any server which Bethesda runs actually has a random number generator as a feature of its hardware. Instead, "random" outcomes for ESO events are calculated by a software algorithim which produces a pseudorandom string of output -- about which, no doubt, you already know.

My kuta droprate seems to be fine right now. About the same before homestead as after. As an analyst, you must know that a sample size of 100 with a drop rate of approximately 7% isn't the best data to draw conclusions from.
