Tesari✭✭✭I've completed a new house based on a childhood memory in real life. Let me tell you a short story!
I was a young girl, about the age of 11 or 12 when I went on a fall retreat with my neighbor's church youth group. We were wisked away to a large farm. There were pumpkin patches, cottages, cobble stone bridges and large wooded areas flush with fall colors.
The smell of autumn was in the air with the evening glow, campfires and freshly laid hay. I remember watching horse driven carrages pass by and a plethora of wildlife! Everyone was in old-timey garments and the flicker of candles lit the walkways! We were sent on an adventure, a sort of scavenger hunt, to search for relics and clues to the mysterious background of the James Family (the owners of this land for many centuries).
We traversed miles of woods, pumpkin patches and hedge mazes. At the end of the night our leather packs were full of treasures and we gathered around the hearth and campires to drink hot cocoa, eat breads and meat and have cinnamon rolls for desert. I can still smell the sweet spice of them baking in the night wind.
We stayed over night until the morning, sleeping next to the fires and in the fur beds and hammocks. It is a memory I will never forget and if I could. I go on that adventure all over again!
