if they price is at 5500 crowns, i think theyll see massive sales versus pricing it at 20k crowns

It will never be 5500 for the Island. I'm pretty tight with my money (I don't even have ESO+) and even I would get it at 5500.

They will price one of the smaller ones at 5500. Probably a Medium House.

I'm not gonna go for the count title cause even Flawless Conqueror is cooler and at least shows that you're actually good at playing the game and not at flipping markets/decorating houses.

I'll grab one of the houses for 5k crowns if there are any good ones, or I'll say: "*** that" and buy the damn thing with gold. I'll place target skeletons EVERYWHERE.

I am willing to use real money (crowns) to buy the house as a 1 time purchase and save my in game gold for furniture and other things, BUT as said many times, if they price it even close to some peoples estimates ($400??) i would just use in game gold to buy a smaller house. I cant see many people being SO into housing that they would spend that kind of money, and without enough of them doing so it isnt worth it to price them that high.

Ive posted about it before... If i can get the DLC pack for 5500, which includes entire zones, quests, dungeons, enemies, npc's, voiced dialog, abilities, loot, etc... then thats my base-line for value. 6000 crowns for that motif i saw shocked me as i have never seen something that high on the crown store, and especially for that?

The motif for 6000 and right next to it (on mine at least) was the DLC pack for 5500... seemed very imbalanced.

Are you talking about furnished or not version?

I would not be surprised if furnished will be pretty high, but I really doubt - it will definitely be counterproductive - to have unfurnished above 5.500 K for manors and 10K for crown store only.

After seeing motif for 6000 crowns nothing will surprise me anymore about prices of houses.

They would also need to make their crown packs bigger and of more value for the bigger bulk of crowns purchased. I do not want to sit there and have to do 4 or 5 transactions of crowns repeatedly. Would rather make a one of purchase.

I am considering buying the large manor I want with crowns and then use ingame gold to furnish it.

That price for the crown exclusive houses wouldn't surprise me.

As it stands with the current 3.8m gold manors would run about $400 from gold sellers. Now obviously ZOS would come well under that for the ones that could be bought with gold, but the exclusives... they have us by the balls on.

Well, you shouldn't necessarily think of manors as accessible only to super-farmers or people buying gold. In my guild's case, the master and lots of guildies pooled gold and will buy a manor for the guild for all guildies to enjoy as a whole. From that perspective, the price tag doesn't seem quite as insane.

Regarding your reservations about exclusives -- I totally agree.

The problem is items being introduced which have very high Crown price tags and which can't be bought with gold regardless of how much farming you're willing to do. This is precisely the thing my girlfriend and I discussed before coming to ESO as being a warning sign as to whether we should bail and go to another game. That it happened so fast and the price tags are rising so fast is what gives me pause. If a history develops of exclusives being sold for insane prices, then any sane person has to bail. And it's a shame because this is such a great game.

I'll bet it won't be anywhere near that high. They'll want to price the houses more moderately so people will buy them with Crowns. That way they can sell us house furnishings for insane amounts of money.

We've moved this thread to Crown Store & ESO Plus

Or, since you're marking the thread with "Z", you could - you know - tell us what the price is going to be.

Why would she know? She doesn't work in the marketing department.

They will make it 55k because of people like you. Because of people that swallow everything that companies showel their throats.

I have a basic thinking. I have 10-15k max for crown special. If its in that range i will buy. If not i wont. That simple. It depends to zos if they want to sell to me or not.

I am pretty sure for all of homestead, they are still trying to figure out the most profitable pricing model - calculating back and forth individual pricing vs scale / expected sales.

The seemingly ridiculous motif for 6k or the ugly elk were probably part of that equation, testing the audience as well as preparing the ground for a general increase in crown prices as preparation for the housing update.

The hard-to-otherwise-justify lack of storage might also be part of that plan - making it an extra you have to buy with crowns later on, so us buying a functional house becomes a two-step sales operation for ZOS.

As has been said before - of course ZOS has to make money, but they should not look too desperate while doing it and certainly keep it reasonable.

What on Tamriel are you talking about? Where has anyone said they will pay 55k Crowns?

As for myself. I came in with the Gold Edition and have never had ESO+. I enjoy the cheapness of the game. Without storage housing is pretty useless to me.

Are you just using alternative facts for your statement?

While that sounds absurd, I wouldn't put it past them and do believe at least some of the homes will go well into the hundred dollar plus range.

Clearly there are enough Elder Scroll fans willing to be fleeced on gambling to rent some cosmetic pixels that aren't even playable content, which is sad considering there weren't enough gameplay fans to keep the game running as subscription only.

Why bother building new areas, telling new stories, creating new encounters and designing challenges that require large development teams when you can copy / paste assets like existing buildings, call it new content, and sell it for $$$?

I'm not sure about the crown store only houses but I'm pretty sure that the ones we can purchase with in-game gold will be cheaper than a lot of people think. Why? Because ZOS knows housing is popular and surely wanna suck as much money out of it as possible so the crown store prices have to be more attractive to players than the in-game gold ones.

Isn't there a limit to the number of crown packs you can buy in a day? If they decide to price these at 15k+ or even as high as 50k, you'd have to buy crown packs every day for multiple days or more than a week, just to be able to buy the expensive furnished houses. Maybe I'm wrong on that as I've never purchased multiple crown packs.

Either this is an oversight on their part or they will release a higher crown pack to go along with housing.

55k sounds absurd, but in relation to the 4.5k elk mount, not so much. Though I would guess somewhere between 20k and 40k.

Though personally I wouldn't even consider paying crowns for any house.

Since ZO insist on putting outrageous prices on things I actually want and can't get with in-game gold, eg. the elk mount, it makes the subscription unaffordable (terrible $ to C ratio) and it means I have to be really stingy with crowns.
  • hockeyboi
    hockeyboi
    20k crowns tops.

    55k lol.

Nobody will buy them for that.

They want to price them so people see the crown option as the more efficient means of purchasing it.
  • castigulaub17_ESO
That is a bold prediction. If the packs go for $40 for 5500 crowns, the game on Amazon is selling for $20, and was like ~$50 at release. That would make this one in-game cosmetic item more expensive than the game itself. I would think that would be monumentally stupid and a sure way not to have it sell.

Crown pricing is going to be a difficult balance since its based of RL $$. Good luck Zos. I hope Zos remains reasonable and uses common sense for the crown prices.

Its insane and ridiculous anything above 10-15k for crown exclusives. They are big and need lots of furnishing. People have to buy furnitures too.

10-15k crowns at the MOST, housing is purely cosmetic and you can't wave it in peoples faces like mounts so really, you could not spend any money at all and be as cool as the guy with the most expensive house. If the house had a TON of useful things then we could negotiate on a higher price. But for now, if they sell it for 25-55k crowns I guarantee you the majority of people will just opt out and say no thanks (even most whales). Wasting the potential of a lot of profit. Once they choose a price they can't lower it any more so they better be extra careful about it. They could slowly raise the price over time and people would fully support it, yielding maximum profit.
