Why did ZOS remove the DK finisher and made DKs the only class without a finishing move?

Because it was bad design. Which probably wasn't their reasoning since they abandoned all vision and design with 1.6, but oh well.

It's a good question. I wish DK's had a finisher as we would have less reliance on proc sets to do so.

Executes in a DK are utterly innecessary. We don't need something like that.

What we need is a tool that makes our DoTs better. Something like minor or major defile. And something that helps to sustain a long fight (like a reliable heal which seems to com next patch).

NBs have an execute and they never use it. Sorcs have a passive that execute so they must use it, and Jesus Beam is not nly the best execute in the game, but one of the stronger skills.

If we classify skills into S, A, B, C tiers, the best ultis, like shooting star, DBoS, incap or EoS, they should be class S, while ultis like SoM, Shatter Soul or soul Tether, should be skills class A. Following that idea, all non ulti skills should start being classified as class B skills (Surprise Attack, Crystal frags, Punct strikes, Burning embers). Nevertheless, there have been non ulti skills which have achieved class A status, like the old Wrecking Blow (which was nerfed) and now, Jesus Beam, which has been nerfed too.

Instead of asking for an execute, we should start asking for more class B skills. We have A LOT of class C skills (skills that you barey see) such as FOO or Stonefist, that need to be improved.

The thing is I really miss my old "heavy attack execute". Now it's just a buff to heavy attack and I don't understand why they removed it - that's why I'm asking.

Once they made it require a fully charged heavy attack it was ruined anyway.

for 1st look on dk dps and on dps other class which is using finisher, for example stam nb

when stam dk have nonstop around 45k dps or mag dk 50k dps, from 100% boss health until finishers and 0% boss health then I as stam nb dps have around 34k-36k dps and finally on finishers my dps is raising to 40k dps

on your dk without finishers you have very stable dps by full this fight while classes which are using finishers have much lower dps before finishers phase in compare to this dk

if oyu want finisher on your dk for fist you should got nerf to some damage skills, dots to dont have 20k difference in dps from dk to anyother class because you got finisher with hitting hard skills without finisher phase

yeah this is also a bit problem, as I see finishers worth to use are jesus beam and killers blade on stamblade, sorc finisher is more for good ppv combo, as finisher for pve its pretty lame, impale on mag nb also, my friend pulling 40k+ dps on trials with strife and kena (because of "low cost" strife and because its hitting like wet noddle without kena) he is just crying when this impale almost dont rasing his dps on finishers, also so often his dps is just lowering while he start using finisher lol

(about dk with no finisher, look on people in exp groups, then you can see how only magplars and nb have finishers to use, so dk isnt the only clas who dont have/dont use finishers lol)

@Stannum DKs had a finisher a year (or maybe more, don't know exactly) ago. Burning Weapons could be morphed into a finisher.

Actually it was igneous, which increased the dmg of your heavy attacks against enemies under 25% health. Useful only for channeled heavy attacks (lit and healing staves)

Back then I thought the buff was really useful. Didn't they remove it because it was simply too strong resulting in 15-20k fully loaded heavy attacks with destro staff?
