First I would like to mention what this thread shouldn’t be about. It shouldn’t mention any specific exploits that were or currently are in game. The purpose of this is also not to name and shame anyone. But facts are there were and there are various in-game exploits that allow you to gain advantage over other players, be it on pve leaderboards, pvp or even trading. They affect all of the possible aspects of an mmo and the problem I found in particular is how to deal with that within a guild community.

Every guild has their own policy of dealing with exploiters and you can also easily report them. It’s also not the case that people can exploit without being aware of it. It takes quite some effort to be able to find an exploit and use it effectively.

For me personally it’s not even a matter of question, if we find an exploiter and with good proof that the said person is exploiting, it’s an immediate guild kick without any second chances. However, I have come across different opinions in this topic. Majority of which is that if the player hasn’t been investigated/punished by the game developers despite the reports then other players should not judge or execute any form of punishment within the guild as well. And that does make sense as well.

From my perspective, a game where exploits are not dealt with immediately and exploiters aren’t punished, is not a game worth investing any time or effort in, even less so money. It will also never attract serious gaming community that plays for the sake of competitiveness and leaderboards. Speaking of which, leaderboards wipe every updated is even more discouraging for those players. The irony of this is, the players that are in an MMO for the challenge of it are also the ones who keep it alive in long term. Those who provide streams and viewers on twitch, youtube, etc. , and promote the game in general. It is a major gaming community lost if exploit fix is put aside before the introduction of new in-game decorations.

In case there are any doubts about how inequity of treatment within a community affects others, here’s a short video:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HL45pVdsRvE

Long story short; is it therefore that the developers are the ones at fault for any exploit being available in the game, not hotfixed, but remaining there for months, and the exploiters themselves shouldn’t be judged within a guild? I would be happy to hear what everyone thinks about this and how it affects in general the community, thanks.

Its sad that they nerf skills because people complain its overpowered, when it's players using stat exploits to boost that skill. Also sad to see all these troll comments.

Would like to add when a champion in league of legends are bugged or getting exploited, they disable it within minuites and hotfix it. In eso, they wait until next major patch and combine it with a leaderboard whipe.

Every time someone takes something serious in this game, its getting trolled. It was even a post here on the forum earlier, about this guy getting offended because no one wanted to /dance with him -.-. #casualgamerswin #reasonforhousingupdate

Lol! Re guild justice, I had this experience myself once when a guildmate asked for pc on an item. Turned out the item was very expensive and I (innocently) asked, wow man! where u get that? He said he farmed it in a dungeon and another guildie chastised him for exploiting. Something about rewards out leveling his char. A whole bunch more guildies jumped in and I was blown away with the reaction. His response was as u stated above. If ZoS didn't want it exploited, they would fix it.

@modaretto ...I saw some stuff in zone chat that was a level 250 something weapon...

I get that some players will be more focused on other aspects of the game than just simply what the developers had intended for gameplay - gold selling/buying, figuring out how to recode gear, scamming other players, ripping off guild bamks, AP boosting with friends and so on...

my personal opinion of it though - is, whom do you want to associate with...this is particularly true when it comes to guilds...

I'm definitely in the live and let live mindset - however, when it comes to whom I want to be around me - I'd prefer the folks more inclined to not to want to explore the more exploitable aspects of the game...cuz, normally - those folks pushing the boundaries, normally don't just do it once or in one specific way...

I guess another part of the question is finding an exploit and making use of it cheating?

Yes it's sort of my point as well. Exploiting is part of mentality/personality and not really something people do once. That's why for me it's a guild kick without second chances.

Having said that, the most important question for me is; is it okay to use the exploit just because ZOS does not take priority to fix it on time?

Grapes for me. All the way. Even prefer them in my salads.
