First I would like to mention what this thread shouldn’t be about. It
shouldn’t mention any specific exploits that were or currently are in game. The purpose of this is also
not to name and shame anyone. But facts are there were and there are various in-game exploits that allow you to gain advantage over other players, be it on pve leaderboards, pvp or even trading. They affect all of the possible aspects of an mmo and the problem I found in particular is how to deal with that within a guild community.
Every guild has their own policy of dealing with exploiters and you can also easily report them. It’s also not the case that people can exploit without being aware of it. It takes quite some effort to be able to find an exploit and use it effectively.
For me personally it’s not even a matter of question, if we find an exploiter and with good proof that the said person is exploiting, it’s an immediate guild kick without any second chances. However, I have come across different opinions in this topic. Majority of which is that if the player hasn’t been investigated/punished by the game developers despite the reports then other players should not judge or execute any form of punishment within the guild as well. And that does make sense as well.
From my perspective, a game where exploits are not dealt with immediately and exploiters aren’t punished, is not a game worth investing any time or effort in, even less so money. It will also never attract serious gaming community that plays for the sake of competitiveness and leaderboards. Speaking of which, leaderboards wipe every updated is even more discouraging for those players. The irony of this is, the players that are in an MMO for the challenge of it are also the ones who keep it alive in long term. Those who provide streams and viewers on twitch, youtube, etc. , and promote the game in general. It is a major gaming community lost if exploit fix is put aside before the introduction of new in-game decorations.
In case there are any doubts about how inequity of treatment within a community affects others, here’s a short video:

Long story short; is it therefore that the developers are the ones at fault for any exploit being available in the game, not hotfixed, but remaining there for months, and the exploiters themselves shouldn’t be judged within a guild? I would be happy to hear what everyone thinks about this and how it affects in general the community, thanks.
