My outlandish plans for that sharp MSA dagger are fully defunc then!!
And agreed, with the changes to curse, overload dual wield is all but dead too, so its wands all round. Very 1D....
I like the pet buffs, have a play pet build healer, but on console with no way to control them, they are not overly viable.

If you're talking magicka sorc using VMA daggers, then yeah dash those plans.
However, if you're looking at it for a stam sorc - you can make a very powerful and enjoyable build using VMA daggers.
Here's what I run when I go into DoT mode: DW/bow, 2x Slimecraw, 5x Black Rose (or reactive if you want to be super troll tanky), 3x Agility, 2x VMA daggers, 1x VMA bow (DoT poison on the bow).
DW bar has Bloodthirst, rending slashes, rearming trap, rune cage, vigor, dawnbreaker of smiting (Rend works here)
bow bar has Poison Injection, Dark Deal, Hurricane, Shuffle, Crit Surge - then you can run Atronach for the stam regen, negate magic, or overload so you can have a bar with caltrops and other utility.
With this setup, your dots will tick for roughly: Rending Slashes: 2.5-3k/tick (crits), Trap 3.5-4.5k/tick (crits), Dawnbreaker 5-6k/tick (crits), and poison injection will depend on how low their life is but it becomes a serious EXECUTE.
Essentially if they can't cleanse, then your DoT rotation will outpace their heals form Vigor/rally/etc and they will simply die. Magicka builds have the same problem where your damage outpaces their magicka regen to spam shields and they just drop once you're ticking on health. Rune Cage is a very dangerous CC because Bloodthirst and your dots do not break it. The first hit of poison injection and rending slashes break it, but the first hit of rearming trap DOES NOT break it so it can be used to more reliably land your traps. The stam pressure from constantly breaking rune cage and rolling/shuffling out of your traps is painful.
On top of all this, crit surge becomes an extremely reliable heal when you have all these dots ticking.
