PvP Arenas/Battlegrounds?

So I play both GW2 and ESO. Overall, I like ESO better, but I spend way more time playing GW2 because ESO doesn't have a structured PvP scene. I love that they introduced dueling, but there isn't much point in it and outside of that all there seems to be is zerg vs zerg for PvP. Recently a player from WoW came to both GW2 and ESO forums to ask which had the better PvP, and on the GW2 forums someone had mentioned that ESO would be getting battlegrounds and arenas.

So this got me very interested because having something like that in ESO would convince me to leave GW2 behind forever. So I started searching around for a source on this information, but all I could find is a stream from ESO Devs in 2015 stating it was a long term plan. Outside of that, I haven't been able to find any updates on this.

So maybe you guys can help me. Are battlegrounds and arenas still coming to ESO, or was it scrapped? Has there been any new information put out from the devs on this subject?

I asked first question in the dev AMA on battlegrounds and arenas as I bought this game solely for pvp. They said battlegrounds are in development in guessing we will have them before Q2 but that's speculation as they gave me no time table. They completely ignored my question on arenas.

You're right though, a blend of GW2 and ESO would be great. 5v5 style pvp, and retain ESO's large scale pvp since GW2 is nothing but PvDoor
