Maintenance for the week of November 18:

High Elf Sorc PvP Suit opinions on a setup im working on.

oTheTownDrunk
Currently putting together a 5 piece Burning Spell Weave, 5 Piece Spinners, 2 Piece Infernal Guardian set for Duel wield from bar and Resto back bar. Dual swords and Jewelry will be Spinners so when I switch to Resto my BSW will still be active to proc off of my IG mortars.

If I need to I will run Atronach and even purple bi stat recov mag food.

What do you think of this setup? Should be alot of SD and Penetration.

Regens going to be rough. Health/Mag/Mag recovery food and heavy attacks might be enough. In 7 light you better be good with the shields.
  • oTheTownDrunk
Yeah im pretty good with my shields and I have around 2200 Crit resist. I am not sure right now if im going 5/1/1, 6/1, or 7 Light. I can solve that with my helmet shoulder set.

Part of the issue is that medium shoulders doesn't help much for your resistances. Ideally, you'd have a heavy chest and either a medium helm or pants.

Without destro staff, how do you plan on procing BSW? Infernal guardian is too inconsistent to have good uptime. It's 50% on shield use to even get the mortars, then they actually have to hit (mortars have a pretty significant telegraph and are slow so they often miss moving targets), even when they hit you only have a 20% chance to proc BSW. Personally, I'd rather run plain old julianos or willpower + torug swords, but I prefer consistent damage over unreliable burst damage.

Personally, i don't like proxy det unless you're bombing with EotS. Drop that for defensive rune which will provide some gank defense. Also, I like meteor on my streak bar so I can cast the meteor, then streak to stun them to guarantee the meteor hits.

Good luck! I've tried multiple times to get DW to work but never found something I was comfortable with. Let us know how it works out!

How are you gonna proc BSW with DW and Resto?

Fairly confident "abilities" are not armor sets. Can anyone confirm?

Would add Harness Magicka instead of having both Proximity and Mines. Usually just run Proxy if bombing.

Shoulders, pants, boots and helms all give the same armor values. Chest gives the most, and belt gives the least, with hands giving more than belt but less than the rest.

@OP, as a dual wield sorc for the last 2 years here's my advice, don't bother with burning spellweave, in many situations it's very rare for infernal guardian procs to actually hit something. Here are my main builds:
    • Seducer/Lich/Infernal Guardian

This is for max sustain, open world kiting while maintains acceptable damage. 2.8k spell dmg buffed with cont atk, 4.8k regen with Lich proc. Use tri stat food.
    • Kags/Elegant/Infernal Guardian

3.5 k spell dmg buffed, 1.8k regen. Easily reaches 10-13k overload hits on ppl. You can maximize it even further by using Julianos/Elegant/Slimecraw. Best for small manning. Use Witchmother's Brew.
    • Kags/Vicious Death/Infernal Guardian

Same stats as the elegant build, but for fighting large groups.

Protip: use Defensive Rune to survive the procrato NB insta-gank BS in light armor.

    Standard bar setup:

    Frags/Entropy/Endless Fury/Curse/Mage Light/Overload
    Healing Ward/Hardened/Defensive Rune/Streak/Harness/Meteor

I'm still fairly new at DW sorcyness.. but I just can't get away from the trainee set. I'm constantly switching stuff around - but every time I drop the trainee set it gets messy..

So, with a base of Trainee jewelry, heavy chest and light feet, I tried adding spinners but gave up on farming the sharpened swords.. Hell, I gave up before getting ANY swords.. It was painful! As a guildie pointed out - I was better off crafting something like julianos with sharpened swords than using spinners without.. So I did. I've tried Trainee with 5 spinners, 4 necro/2WP, 5 Julianos light, 5 Julianos heavy.. All with Infernal guardian. I tried Lich instead of trainee for a while - but as well as having a hard time with the health and stam loss, I just couldn't get a decent 2nd set I was happy with.

Anyway, At the mo, I'm favouring high stats, low sustain builds - so I think my favourite is 5 Trainee, 5 Julianos, 2 IG (with 5 heavy). I'm using dark deal(exchange? can never remember which is which) to sustain along with the constitution procs - and have a fair bit of CP spent in penetration to make up for losing the light armour passive.
Its a solo zerg-surfing build as it relies on sometimes backing off to recover/dark deal, and sometimes spamming resto heavy attacks from the back-bar just to regen ulti and magicka.

Using health/mag food it gives 42k magicka, 27k health, 13k stam and around 2400 spell power(buffed with surge) and 48% spell crit. That is without the undaunted passive (don't have it yet)..
    Minalan owes me a beer.

Heavy armor DW does work for small grp/zerg surfing, and trainee is a great all round set that I've used too. The drawback is you simply cannot kite in it like you can with lich when a bunch of proctatos are sprinting after you/getting on their horses.

True that.. its definitely not a 1vx setup. Although I can often escape and survive that - but it totally relies on luck - ie. how much magicka happens to be in the tank at the point where I have to start streaking. And I'll be empty and in no shape to fight at the end of the 'escape'

I just really struggle to find something I'm happy with to go with Lich.. I guess it doesn't help that I just havn't got any lich jewellery to drop yet - but if I have 4 armour pieces and resto in lich, 2 in infernal guardian (I REALLY like this) - that only leaves 1 armour slot, 3 jewels, 2 swords. 6 pieces.. So, can have a single 5-piece or 2or3 Willpower with 3or4 of something else (tried wp+necro) - but can't use crafted. Even so I just really struggled with 2 things -

    1. Not enough stam for break-free/dodge/sprinting/blocking rebounded frags
    2. Not enough health to reliably survive the gank

Not to mention the grind in getting 2 sharpened swords to drop for whichever dmg set is chosen.

I guess it partly depends on whether you have the resources to get the gear needed to fill a build like this - or if you can fill in the gaps with crafted sets more easily. I guess I just need to grind more to make lich work for me (its just sooo dull)

If it's lich gear, I would just recommend lich + trainee. Quest reward will already give you a sharpened trainee sword, then you just need to farm for a lich sword.

I'm trying to avoid trainee weapons. Unfortunately there's that 'bug'? where switching weapons temporarily loses the 5th piece bonus - so it means losing around 3k health/magicka/stamina when switching (even when switching from 5 trainee to 5 trainee.).. The trainee 5-piece isn't really a bonus you would want to enable/disable every time you weapon-swap. The only way that I can think of making that work could be to have jewellery/2armour as trainee. 3 armour as lich, 2 weapons as lich (or weap + shield) on the back bar - and have the front bar as 2 wp swords.. hm... Would mean losing healing ward, but 2 shields and power surge should do, maybe?.... I think I'll try that!

Stack your magicka as high as possible when using DW. Spell damage is always much harder to stack on a magicka class, than weapon damage on a stamina class. Around 50k and you should be fine with around 3k spell damage. I run slightly more of both, but I'm also min-maxing a lot.

Yessss trainee is a hidden gem and I'm loving it in PvP.

I'm my opinion sustain is possible with any recovery, you just have to know how to play your character. This goes for stamina and magicka.
