Magicka Templar in need of a vMA build.

bantycakes
I'm looking for a build that will put me on the right path to completing vMA on my Templar.

She's an Altmer, 64 points in magicka, and I'm less than ~60 CP from hitting cap.

Any suggestions for gear/rotation are greatly appreciated.

(Deltia doesn't have anything to go by.)

    5x juliano
    3x willpower
    2x skoria
    maelstrom destro/dual wield torug
    maelstrom resto

this is how i used to do it . Yesterday I built my templar full healer, with healer CP points and 5x spell poewr cure/5x mother's sorrow and i played the first 3 stages of the arena and they were even easier.....

@Lexxypwns I checked him out - he's got some great stuff so thanks for the rec!

@Caipiroska The only problem I have is I've never completed vMA so I don't have access to the Maelstrom weapons. I've seen that a Nirn desto and Precise resto can make up for that until I complete vMA.

    5x julianos
    3x willpower
    2x skoria
    2 torugs
    1 random resto

DW bar : Jabs, Structured Entropy, sun fire, Radiant destruction, Magelight ULT: COMET

Resto: Breath of life, Healingward,Channel focus, toppling charge, magelight ULT: Dawnbreaker

This is the way i done it. Last Boss is the only thing that is hard imo. And the setup may vary alittle throughout the stages but this is what i use on the last boss.

forget about that healer build i said haha, it didn't work .

this is how i do it and i end up in the weekly :

    5x juliano
    3x willpower
    2x skoria (medium/heavy)
    maelstrom destro/dual wield torug(sharpenned)
    maelstrom resto/random resto (precise)

dual wield bar: sweeps, spears, radiant glory, breath of life, vampire's bane(sometimes i change to topling charge or magelight)
resto: rapid regeneration, harness magicka, channeled focus, breath of life, ritual of retribution(same as the first bar, i'm still testing which skill is better herE)

potions: essence of spell power tri

champion points: 48 thaumaturge, 100 elemental expert
this is the important,i won't say all my CPs.

my final stats are something like:
    2350 spell power
35k magicka with max magicka+ max hp food
    19500 hp
    950 mag regeneration

BUT sometimes i have to drink the other food (orzuga red something ) because i run out of mana quickly
and the max magicka is like 30k and i don't remember the magicka regeneration but much more.

cant go wrong with juliano. i recommend running normal for like a whole day and once you can clear that very fast, that means you know the spawns and habits of each round. vet mode is the same the monsters just have more hp and do more damage iirc.

    2x Skoria
    3x WIllpower

    2x Shaprened Torgu's Pact Swords
1x Sharpened Inferno Staff (any will do)

    DW Bar: Sweeps, Radiant Glory, Harness Magicka, Repentance, Inner Light, Shooting Star;

Destro Bar: Elemental Blockade, Structured Entropy, Honor the Dead, Channeling Focus, Inner Light, Elemental Rage .

Keep Blockade and Focus down. Spam Sweeps on enemies. Harness Magicka to avoid damage, Repentance to keep your Health and Stamina as adds die.

Entropy is the flex spot. If you're gonna use Spell Damage pots, you can swap it out for something, such as Toppling Charge or Force Pulse.

One little trick to help magicka sustain between rounds is, whenever you can safely kill an add, do it with a Destro staff Heavy Attack. The last passive in the destro skill tree + the regen from the heavy attack will give you like 5 magicka back easy. You can also use Fiery Rage to clear out a group of adds, will give you a ton of magicka back.

If you don't feel comfortable with a Destro Staff, you can swap it for a Resto Staff. This is what I ran when I used to run DW/Resto:

DW: Sweeps, Raidant Oppresion, Toppling Charge, Repentance, Inner Light, Shooting Star/Dawnbreaker of Smiting.
Resto: Mutagen (I prefer it over Rapid Regen), Vampire's Bane, Healing Ward/Honor the Dead, Channeling Focus, Structured Entropy, Any ult

Note that I'm a cheap *** and don't use crafted potions anymore. SO it means I'll have entropy somewhere. It does help by giving you a health boost, though. I prefer Mutage becase the emergency tick has saved my life many times. Getting CCed even for a second or two is sure enough to kill you, and the faster ticking of Rapid Regen doesn't do much to counter that. Vampire's Bane is there more as a tool than something you'd actively try to keep up. You can swap it out for Dark Flare for Stage 7's boss.

The DW/Destro staff's credits go mostly to Nifty, though. That's somewhat the build he goes over in TF.

I always completed it on my stam dk before, but yesterday I tried it on my magplar. I ran:

2 grothdar, 5 mother's sorrow and 5 spinners (with a vMSA destro staff on my backbar) Without the spinners I would run 3x willpower and 2x torugs instead.

It gives me (buffed) 43k mag, 2.8k spell power, 18k health and ~950 mag regen. It worked very well for a first run on my magplar. I'm still messing around with my skill bars though.
