With the current meta heavy armor do you think maul is the way to go? Or is the difference not much vs 2h sword? What do you think?

16k-21k+ resistance = extra dmg from maul
16k- = Swords (applies bonus to all abilities, healing included)

Depends, on my stamblade and stam DK I use the sword because I use surprise attack, and noxious breath. On my templar and sorc I just the maul/maces.

Swords will only benefit you against light armor users, but since HA is the meta, maces.

Use a 2H mace if you're using it for a DPS bar. If your 2H is a backbar just for buffs then a 2H sword is more beneficial.

The extra penetration from the 2H mace will give you more damage output than the extra 5% raw damage that the 2H sword will give you.

ZoS really messed up penetrations this past patch. Abuse their mistake or you won't be on par with the rest of Cyrodiil.

This is incredibly inaccurate at the moment. Nearly every stamina build running about Cyro is using Heavy Armor. At least all of the players I know. Very few are still rocking medium armor, most of which are solo gank builds.

With the changes to penetration it's possible to completely negate the armor and spell resists of medium armor. Which is why many chose to switch to heavy. Not to mention that in Heavy Armor it is possible to boast nearly the same amount of WD as a medium armor build due to the Wraith passive and boost your survivability by a lot. The only thing you'd really be missing is the critical. Which one could argue isn't super important in the current meta of capped critical resists and HA.

Not quite, been screwed up since DB. Crazy thing is that during the PTS players reported how out of whack sharpened was compared to the other traits yet it still went live and nothing changed with SoH. ZOS seems quite content with the imbalance.
