And soul assault is not blockable. I'm surprised no one uses it against tanks in PvP.

It's use is soo situational, it's better to slot meteor.

@Minno Nobody uses it because despite the large tooltip value it for some reason hits like a moist noodle and leaves you horribly exposed while channeling. Basically, it sucks. Soul trap also sucks.
The whole Soul Magic skill line is nothing but another drop of the ball by ZOS.

Band Camp statements: To state "But this one time I saw X doing X... so that justifies X" Refers to the Band camp statement.

Plenty of skills hit for high damage numbers, so why all the focus on radiant destruction? Got hit for 30k by soul assault as an example. Such is life.

Soul Trap does exactly what it was meant to do: Fill Soul Gems. If you want Soul Trap to be a good DoT then you can always run Oblivion's Foe

Clearly you weren't PvPing in early 2014. The number of times I was jesusbeamed down by multiple soul assaults far outnumbers more recent radiant deaths. WTF doesn't anyone use the healing version morph on less magicka-stacked toons? Seems ideal for PvP.UltimaJoe777 wrote: »jedtb16_ESO wrote: »no. it's just an execute that hits really hard if the target is below 30% health.

I actually did force my poor magicka sorc (last of the 8 class combos I leveled) to use those stupid pets I loathe so much and Soul Trap (the morph that hits multiple targets no less) with Oblivion's Foe while leveling to 50 just as an example of the fact that you can derp your way to 50 with a pot on your head hitting things with a spoon and not learn how to actually play at endgame... which has got to be highly exacerbated with the elimination of VR levels. BOOM! Have fun newbie with no resources, no learned traits, poor as hell and with a terrible build and sometimes not even learning how Set bonuses work with piecemeal armor like some hunter green armor wearing level 3 newbie...
Looking back over the other morph of soul trap it makes me want to make a terribad hybrid with 5/5 Oblivion's Foe and 5/5 Pelinal's Aptitude and all gold tristat glyps.
P.S. edit - how in OBLIVION is this an 8-trait Set!?!?!
Consuming Trap - 28m range, 10 second DoT, 2 targets, Fills a soul gem and restores 7% Health, Magicka and Stamina if enemy dies while affected.
Or a Shatter Soul/Phoenix/Vicious Death build - Burn enemy from the inside with soulfire, dealing [x] Magic Damage over 3.8 seconds and reducing Movement Speed by 70%.
If target is killed, it explodes for [y] Magic Damage to nearby enemies.
If target is killed, it explodes and damages nearby enemies.
Soul Shatter passive - If your Health drops below 20%, your soul explodes, dealing 2[x] Magic Damage to nearby enemies. This effect can only trigger once every 2 minutes.
Phoenix set - When you die, instead become immune to all negative effects and healing for 3 seconds. When the effect ends you heal yourself for 17200 and explode for 8600 Flame Damage to nearby enemies. The effect has a cooldown of 10 minutes.

The problem with Phoenix is that the healing doesn't start until after the immunity ends, and is not instant - it sorta ticks.Phoenix set - When you die, instead become immune to all negative effects and healing for 3 seconds. So to nullify the benefits of Phoenix, when you turn to immune stone the enemy holds block, and immediately upon you exploding begins an attack burst. They will drop you back to zero before more than a minimal amount of Phoenix health is applied, and you die.
To make Phoenix work as it seems to be intended, the healing needs to happen during the bird screech and the explosion needs to have a 5 meter knock back element to give the newly revived the barest amount of elbow room to have a fighting chance.
Fair call. Still, from playing the alliance war over the last 6 weeks or so, there are other skills that hit for high damage. Yet people are obsessed by jbeam. Even before getting into the alliance war, there were numerous discussions about different skills being OP. No doubt there are legitimate concerns; just came to the conclusion from playing the alliance war & reading discussions over the last two years or so, people like to whine about a lot of skills, simply because they die to the said skill.

True. I do not understand what some are doing wrong since I rarely die to RD unless already low health.
