Solid PVP magicka sorc setup?

Hello, was thinking of playing my retired mag sorc. Was just curious on what armours I should make?

I was thinking Tri stat Food, 2x engine guardian, 5 kag hope. Destro and resto (maelstrom if you have). Is that the standard setup? Do you go 5-1-1 or all 7 light?
Should I wear impen (I have a gold divines kags sets)? I don't mind making purple impen kags.

Any other suggestions?

What mag recovery should I aim for?

    After this update there is few VEEERY interesting sets that can be usefull for mag sorc so it'll take some time to test them all but few have really nice potential.So stay tune people will start post new builds soon.

    If you're going to wear Kags instead of Seducer I would dump a considerable amount of CP into cost reduction. Also wear at least 1 regen glyph on your jewelry. Dropping the 1 SD glyph for a regen glyph with the Kags 5pc bonus still leaves you ahead on SD over seducer, with very similar stats. Would aim for 1.6-1.8k Magicka Regen with at least 80-90 CP in cost reduction. Will give you basically the same bonuses as 5pc Seducer with a very small amount of extra Spell Damage.

    Divines works fine. I'm a bigger fan of Infused big and Impen small for Sorc though. Difficult to keep shields up 100% of the time now when facing multiple enemies so that little bit of extra impen comes in handy.

    You're console player? If yes then wait for update because some values of max stats and regens goes down after fixing few things in percentage bonuses.

    Thanks some good info. I generally go infused big too for the bigger shields. Normally it's easy to stack crit resist in CP but as a sorc a lot of our CP is in bastion.

Because an 8 k shield is f ing useless. Died because of baddies on the forum. Too much qq too little pew pew. 16 AD 2 DC. 0 EP cause they bad, CP 2300 plus 18 level 50 toons. NA, PC, Grey Host#SORCLIVESMATTER actually they don’t or they wouldn’t keep getting nerfed constantly.

    Aye good advice but I have many alts. Of which some are already stam. I did enjoy stam sorc but I wanna leave it as a mag sorc.

    I mean, you can zap potatoes all day long. But any decent player is going to tear you up, while perma blocking or dodge rolling 17 or 18 times. It's getting old, and I've tried just about everything, the game is broken.

    ZOS finally listened to me and a few others and reverted the 1.6/2.0 change to Mage's Fury and its morphs. Its no longer dodgeable if their health is at 20% or less.

    This means onces their health gets to 20% Cast Mage's Fury and they will be dead the minute you raise your hand even if they dodge they can't avoid it, the lighting strike is literally instant now like it used to be in the 1.x days(its so fast if you blink you won't even see it, its literally as fast as lighting now)

    So you can; use Mage's Fury to kill these people no as a Sorc, Roll+Vigor+Rally will not save them if you get them to 20% health. It took a year, but persistence pays off! Thanks ZOS!

    This is as amazing as it was unexpected.

    I'm going to revive my dual wield build just for this...

    What else did they change that wasn't in the patch notes?

    CP or no CP campaign?
    Solo, group, zerg?
    Is your preferred playstyle defensive or aggressive?

    If you are very good with your shields, you can forget the impen.

    I run 5 Julianos 1 kena 1 seducer armor and a staff , all willpower jewelry, it's not bad have like 3500 spell damage with destro staff and 1500 regen

    I'm honestly feeling more and more like that which each passing day. The burst potential for a Sorc just isn't really viable anymore. On a decent stamina player my frags are hitting for 8 to 10k crits and that's with around 13 to 15k penetration, and that's if they aren't dodged, blocked, or reflected. And in all honesty we really don't have another hard hitting ability, curse is great but it's predictable, and you have plenty of time to react. Endless fury is great but you can't weave with it due to its pathetic damage >20, and it doesn't work until 20%!! Unlike most other executes now.

    I'm finding it harder and harder to be competitive on a Mag Sorc. And our CCs Suck.

    Basically. I originally mained a tank. This was before the HA buff so PVP wasn't much fun unless I was in a decent group, even then, not actually really defeating anyone got old quick.

    Then I rolled a Stam DK, and a Stamblade. Felt like I was being too cookie-cutter, and just following the crowd, so I rolled a Mag DK, Mag Sorc, and Magplar, got them all more or less to the point where all the abilities I had unlocked were more or less the endgame PVP ones I'd use.

    Mag DK is the most fun, and this char is my main now. However in PVP, they're a joke.

    Mag Sorcs and especially Magplar were pretty solid, but as soon as I started playing on my Stam chars again, I reckon my K/D ratio tripled.

    Mag Sorc, as you said, has great burst, awesome utility skills and is probably the best solo PVP mag class still imo, including Magplar. However, I still don't think they can keep up with any Stam class. You actually really can't zap potatoes and hope for the best, especially when that potatoe has more armor, stronger attacks, and longer-lasting defensive manoeuvres than you.

    Not to mention the nerfs to regen in SOTH will probably hit Magsorc harder than any other spec in-game.
