How are certain players in pvp so OP?

prohunter654
Ok so I was wondering how are some players in Cyrodill are so Over-Powered? I have looked up the meta builds and me and my friend have tried to use those builds but it never does enough damage! For example my friend made a nightblade got him somegood end game gear with decent enchantments and armor sets but he can't even get close to what we have seen most nightblades do. it takes him a good 15 abilities to kill someone while it should theoretically at least 4 shot people. And then I get 2 shot on my tank... By a nightblade in full heavy! Could someone shed some light on this? Are we just super off base and are thinking about this wrong? I would really like to know how to make my friends nightblade actually viable in pvp and my tank viable in pvp.

lmao that really needs changing, I've mained a templar since release and we were easily the worst class in the game for a long time. I welcome these new found buffs that we've been given but it really is annoying seeing Scrubby McScrubfaces running this and spamming one button.

Magicka templar is at the top of the food chain right now. Against blazing shield templars Scrubby McScrubfaces kill themselfes in serie too.

If you go into non cp campaign it's not that bad. If someone wants to run the same dmg like in cp campaigns, he has <20k hp and 0 sustain. Just block the initial burst and he's done.

I actually don't get very mad at the maluplars to be honest. It's annoying ,but really malubeth just tips the hat towards OP, it doesn't do anything so crazy without EMP passives.

I can't get mad at anyone spamming one button either, especially when they kill me because if you think about it, for all the talk and skill and whatever, I am dead and they are alive, so what good did all that practice do for me lol?

Some of these guys are using sets you have never heard of, by the way.,

Some of these sets come in jewelry, some don't a lot stack with monster sets, a lot become additive instead of multiplicative, giving unintended bonuses.

If you go outside the build videos and twitch streams, there are some ridiculous combos out there

Do exactly what you are doing now, ask questions. You will be surprised at how much information and knowledge you will receive just by asking.

    - If someone kills you in a few shots, whisper them and ask them how they did.
    - Join a dueling guild, this is a great place to share information about skills and armor
    - Practice, Practice, Practice
    - Study your class
    - Record yourself fighting, and watch the videos or share the videos others to see if anyone has advice.

Builds are more than armor sets, race, skills and CP allocation. It's how you play them.

I want to second the recommendation to run video. Bookmark fights where you did well... or poorly... and review them later. It's very helpful for learning what you are doing right and what you are doing wrong.

    ^^^^^

You have to craft and science your own build OP. You can watch people over the internet with their rotations, builds.. you may try to copy pasta this-- but it will almost never work. The meta for how those builds work is all in how the good players mind works. This EXP cannot be copy pasta'ed.

But there is hope for you OP. You recognized that you see a problem with your gear set up and your buddies. Now all you have to do is brain storm how to make it work. Sounds easy, but its not. When your body is lying on the floor and you're getting tea-bagged and wondering what you did wrong-- that is the hardest part right there. Is figuring out how you could of handled that situation better.

Take baby steps, change some very minor things around and ask for advice about things you get confused on. Gradually you'll start to get better. :) And, with that, comes better decision making, with better decisions comes the ability to change out abilities that help you where your weaknesses are, and when you can make excellent decisions and destroy all your weaknesses you're pretty much good to go.

I would argue that there are more insecure anti-elitists complaining that everyone who is good cheats and anyone who wins a fight where they are outnumbered should be banned than there are players who actually cheat.

This type of thing is clearly not what the OP is talking about.

OP you got some really good advice. Practice really is key and 1v1 practice is super helpful because you will get a feel for your class and how it plays against different classes and how to react to different abilities your enemies use. PvP in ESO has a lot of small things that, when they all are used together, make players very powerful. The only way to really learn is to practice a lot and talk to experienced players.

Also just some random tips to help: gold out your weapons (damage will increase a lot, make sure they're the proper weapons first), make sure you're running the proper food or drink for your build. Also maybe reconsider tanking in PvP. It is possible but it's not easy and if you're mainly playing with one other friend it might be easier to be effective if you were more damage or heals oriented. Play how you want though, there are some really good PvP tanks out there.

    A few ways.

They are usually highly-experienced and knowledgable players with strong builds. These players are deadly but there honestly aren't many like this.

The other way is that they are decent players with OP gear that everyone currently agrees is overperforming, such as Malubeth on a Magicka Templar with Transmutation.

1vX tends to rely on a strong player killing weak players with burst though. Few 1vXers are actually players that almost exclusively run solo and take on other strong players in 1vX. When you watch 1vX clips, nearly everytime the enemies are pitifully weak. I have a hard time appreciating 9/10 1vX clips because to me they seem like typical gameplay and aren't worth anything at all. Most dangerous 1vXers are the players who drag you into places where they can use the environment to actively stop you from focusing your attacks on them (LoSing).

I don't even remember if I posted it here yet, but the best way to become op or to "get gud" like it is affectionately called is to duel your ass off. Potato into people. Ask questions, become more knowledgeable, and practice until you can hold your own against the greats. That's the only way to do it, and you get mad respect from playing that way. Join or create a dueling guild.

Dueling and open world is completely different. Many players suck at duels but perform extremely well in 1vX or unpredictable sitations

How can you perform extremly well in 1vX when you can't even win a 1v1? Or are you talking about those 1vX where your enemies use pve armour and have combined less cp than you?
From my experience duelling helps a lot for improving yourself in open pvp.

Don't overrate what you see in videos. People don't post their bad moments, they post their best, and if you see a player showing how he one- or two-shotted enemies keep in mind that he may have wiped at the 20 tries before. Also keep in mind that a 501+ cp-player has MASSIVE advantages over lower ranged opponents.

As everyone already stated, copying builds doesn't work well most of the times. Many players struggle because they play with a build that doesn't reflect their personal strengths. Not everybody is the type for high paced melee-attacks, not everybody can easily manage his ressources.

My best advice: Start conservatively in PVP. Give yourself gear that keeps you alive - high regen, high resistance. Give yourself skills that keep you alive - not too costly, not only damaging but also healing. It's not what most people are posting because most people are more impressed by one-shotted enemies than by a 10 min fight.

Oh, and talking about 10 min fights: keep in mind that some builds are really not easily killed. :)

Broken game mechanics and cheat engine mostly no legit build will let 15 players beat on you and not take damage or be tank and high dps at the same time that defies normal game parameters.

To bad the few good players are overshadowed by all the cheaters in this game.
