Basic setup for lazy AoE DPS PvE class/weapon/line?

I just want to start a new character for very simple solo PvE AoE leveling. After a long day of work, I don't want to think or read, I just want to wade through stuff, look at the pretty landscape, and mash AoE skills on mobs. Luckily for me, this game is (honestly much too) easy.

But I still want to put together a leveling class/build for that purpose. It would have to be highly survivable (heals or prevention, either's fine) and the AoE skills would have to mostly be available early on, preferably some from the start. What's a good place to start?

Duel wield steel tornado stam build . Add acid spray with a bow line . Two handed dizzying swing .

Wall of elements destroy staff magica build . Add impulse when you can .

If it's aoe you're looking for, I think magicka sorc has you covered. What I use for aoe leveling (I'm not max level yet, only about champ 150, so take that into consideration) is this: Bar one should have dark magic: restraining prison, destruction staff: elemental blockade, storm: liquid lightning, destruction staff: pulsar/elemental ring, fifth slot variable (I prefer bound armor for mana, magelight for mana and crit, or clannfear for easier soloing). Second bar can be your survival bar if you need a lot of survivability. Just make it resto staff and make sure you have rapid regen, possibly healing springs, hardened ward, and surge. With surge you will get tons of heals because your aoe is going to get tons of crits.

Afterthought: Why restraining prison? Because nothing is more irritating than going to aoe mobs and having them move out of it. Throw up restraining prison and they'll be forced to sit in wall of elements and liquid lightning for their full duration, which is pretty painful for the mobs. Add to that that now nothing melee is actually ever going to hit you AND surge is healing you anyway (and I believe you still get increased critical for casting dark magic, which means even more surge heals) and you've got some pretty epic survival for a light armored traditional glass cannon.

Magic Templar for the win!!! If I was trying to teach a double amputee to pull 30k DPS, I would have them roll a templar. You can do all of the solo content in the game with one button, except maybe VMA. Puncturing sweep is a cone AoE that does great damage and heals, plus you get access to it right away. I think a magic NB is in second place for ease of play. They get funnel health and Sap Essence, which both heal and DPS at the same time.

Magic Templar main bar: Sweep (DPS, AOE, Heal), Toppling charge (Gap closer and interrupt), Radiant destruction (best execute in game), Breath of Life (Oh Crap Heal), and Inner light (extra magic and crit).

You can clear anything solo with just that bar. I bet you could even do VMA with it without swapping if you put your mind to it.

Steel Tornado is the best AoE in the game, but stam builds can be rather limited until you really get leveled. Any magic build relying on elemental ring can also do good DPS, but you dont get Elemental ring until much later on. Out of the gates, Templars have the best AOE DPS by a mile.

Mag DK with Skoria and TBS. Just slap all your dots down starting with the longest one first, so engulfing flames, embers, eruption and blockade and use lightening heavy attacks twice and repeat. Pulls over 30k dps with war horn up.

I agree any class with a stam race - DW steel tornado & bow setup or 2h for single target.

or Magicka templar / NB for the nice heals.

Magicka DK is very nice for lazy PvE too BUT it takes to around lvl 35 until you get the nice skills that auto heal ect.

@Roehamad_Ali - He said easy, with that build he will have to weapon swap,
@mattgproctorb14_ESO - again he will have to bar swap,

@Oreyn_Bearclaw - I agree with this build, MAGICK templar is the way to go..
main and only bar on magicka templar while leveling,

    Puncturing sweeps
    whatever
    whatever
    whatever
    Breath of life,
    Ultimate - Whatever.....

    absolutely no thinking involved,
    one button spam,
    when health below 50%,
    Breath of life.....

Whatever slots can hold whatever skill it is you want to level next..
Seriously you don't need to use them but put them there to level...

The more enemies you have attacking you the more healing you get from punturing sweeps...

Wear 5 light, 1 medium and 1 heavy armour,
you can use whatever weapon you want it really doesn't matter while levelling but i would use something i intend using later on..

    Lvl1 - 50 will be a breeze...

No. Lightening staves just seem to work a lot better, plus each tick can crit where as your singular attack may not crit and you'll lose out. Plus from a rotation point of view using a Maelstrom lightening staff, it seems that the enchantment procs on each tick when they are in blockade. It has to as the heavy seems so stupidly powerful and it drains the enchantment out the weapon like there is no tomorrow.

Plus in the terms of AOE battles the heavy will hurt 3 ads all the same so park them up dots on and hold down the trigger so the speak.

    thanks for that feed back

Thought that with a dk being primarily associated with fire that it would count for them.

Yes true. I used to use one but opted for my nirnhoned lightening staff. Seems to do the job perfect for me.

Alternate method is drop blockade for Whip and use an inferno. Put your dots down and weave with Whip. Pulls similar numbers for but it's easier to get lost in time and forget to reapply your dots. A good weave will be around 16/17k damage on average, but a heavy lightening attack if every tick crits in blockade can hit for anything 20k upwards and some say 30k.

Every suggestion given in this thread is pretty valid, except... very few of them are lazy.

If you really want to be the laziness made person in this game's trash pve, just use a 2 hander and slot Brawler.
This skill is so underestimated in pve, it bugs me out to not understand why so many people are ignoring this skill.

I managed to solo normal Spindleclutch at lvl13 (when you are sent by your alliance Undaunted group to visit your respective starter dungeon) with no food buff and sub-optimal equipment thanks to this skill.

    Rotation:
    -(optional) Place any AoE
-Smash your face on Brawler button

    Repeat.

I gave weapon AOE skills because he didn't say he wanted to play a Templar in the op .

On a DK? Yes. A lot of DKs, myself included, are running Lightening staff on their back bar for AoE, but it only works if you have VMA staffs and the Infallible Aether set. Otherwise, Fire is better.

On a Templar, your jabs hit hardest with DW, but your weaves are better with a staff. I am not a DPS expert on my templar, I mostly heal. But in VMA, I like fire staff so I have some range and can run Blockade on my front bar.
