Character/Account transfers for the upcoming "One Tamriel" update...

IX_Anubis_XI
I have been playing Elder Scrolls Online since day 1 that it came out on consoles, on the Xbox One. I wanted to buy it on PC, but all my friends are on the Xbox One, which is what led to my decision to buy it on there. It is common knowledge that when ESO first came to consoles, PC players were allowed a short period in which they could transfer their characters to their console accounts. With this "One Tamriel" update that will soon be coming out, I am curious as to whether or not that will be achievable backwards - specifically, if I could transfer my character(s) or even just my account in whole from console to computer, so that I may finally play the game the way that I've always wanted to -on my computer- yet still be able to play with my console friends. I know that integrating a properly functioning system in which PC, Xbox One and PlayStation 4 players will all be able to play on the same servers as each other, but since this update is going to be, essentially, a larger-scale version of what happened when the game was brought to consoles, I feel it only makes sense that console players could have a period in which they could transfer their characters to PC, or perhaps even be able to access their account on any device at any time (Ex: play a character on my Xbox One, turn off the console, log into my account on the PC, and resume playing that same exact character as an almost seamless transition).

So in short, my question is - can you confirm or deny, assuming you even know yet, whether or not something along these lines is going to be a feature? If there is any way that I can transfer my console account to the PC, that would be absolutely great and make me love the game that much more.

I look forward to your response! Happy 4th of July

Been asking for this for a while now. Xbox one has become so unstable after DB that it isn't playable. A lot of people have stopped playing on Xbox, I think it's only fair that we be allowed to transfer to PC.

^ yeah but at the time they were only planning on expanding ESO to new consoles. Now they're going to be unifying all three. That's simultaneously a very similar and a very different scenario

What do you mean when you say unifying? I don't think they are unifying all three platforms into one giant server. I think they are unifying all three alliances into one area, per platform.

One Tamriel is only eliminating instancing by Alliance. It will not merge the platforms, or the realm (NA, EU) megaservers

Yeah...I think you're right. MS wouldn't want to allow a mass exodus from the XB version of ESO, as much as I want to switch back. :'(

It's really not up to Microsoft, they don't really have anything to do with the game whatsoever outside of subscriptions.

Microsoft doesn't care if we play on Xbox or Windows... the decision to allow us to transfer or not is solely up to ZOS. The reason they won't let people transfer to PC is because they don't want to lose population on consoles (which has already happened anyway due to all of the issues).

Someone just needs to start a petition and get a class action lawsuit going since ZOS refuses to actually fix any issues.

Although the likelihood that there would be another transfer opportunity being slim to none especially since they said that there would not be another opportunity. If there was another opportunity by the very slim thread of a chance it has, I would be going to PS4, as the ESO PLUS issues on Xbox One are beyond maddening they are like out of this world and I mean in a very very bad way. Otherwise at least for me the game is mostly issue free besides the crashes in Wrothgar and the well known performance issues the game has, but playing the game without ESO PLUS is just something I feel like I can't do or feel like I can live without. I don't have PlayStation PLUS now as currently the only games I have are single player and most of the games offered for free with the PlayStation PLUS sub are pretty dumb, considering although cheaper people do pay money on that, which in most people's cases are not expendable. I would buy PlayStation PLUS in a heartbeat and go on over to the other side if given the chance, although I wish it would happen I HIGHLY doubt it ever will. At this point though I am not going to go over, as I don't care if the game has a sale price of $1.00, because at least to me the amount of stuff and progress I have on my account are a lot more worth holding out and hope they fix the issues than going on over to the other side and being mostly issue free and start with nothing.

EDIT: Now I did not think about this until just now, but if both happen meaning they fix the ESO PLUS issues and they bring a limited time transfer opportunity I would probably stay subscribed to both editions of the game as well as copy my stuff from Xbox One to PS4 as well as bring the remaining stuff from my PC account to both of the console versions. Yeah this would probably be a lot of money, but more than worth it in the long run.

PS4 is having the same issues.

It is basically an unplayable game on both consoles.
Look, I totally understand that it is a MASSIVE game and code base, I am a programmer myself, and I understand that it CAN take time to trawl through oceans of code, and being a networked game it is even harder to pin-point issues. BUT..... They are spending valuable man-hours creating new content when that time and effort and money should be solely dedicated to resolving known issues. Yes you can allow your art team to work on new models and textures and whatever other assets you require and your audio team can still be tweaking recordings and working on new sounds. But your PROGRAMMERS should be 100% dedicated to solving ALL the major issues you are facing BEFORE they even begin to work on new content. The fact that this ISN'T being done tends to suggest that there is a good possibility that the required effort to FIX the code is more than they are willing to put in and they are making a last ditch attempt to milk the cash cow dry before everyone finally gives up. I REALLY hope this isn't the case as I like this game, I REALLY like this game a lot, it has SO MUCH potential for greatness and a long lifespan, provided they fix the issues FIRST, then roll out the content.

PLEASE ZOS, make this game work!!

It is a great game with a LOT of potential. But, I've seen all of that slowly dissipate over the years. I've been playing since PC early access, with the intention of transferring to XB, which I did. I've come to regret that decision and hope that possibly they would offer a transfer from console to PC. I know they said that the PC to console transfer was a one-time thing. But perhaps they could offer a one-time transfer the other way. I'd be happy and would start subscribing again.

But, it's doubtful they would do that, and so I'm left hoping they FIX ALL THE ISSUES on console - including ESO+ on XB. Make the game and ESO+ work reliably, and I'll gladly resub.
