To be honest, I know nothing about software, coding, programming, or whatever we're supposed to call it these days. It's been two years I don't understand how the lag issues havn't been fixed....

But am I being inaccurate when I say the mega-server idea might have failed spectacularly when it comes to PvP?
Oh, okay.Dont think so. Mega server has nothing to do with PvP. its just a cool name for dynamic instancing - instead of few shards/servers you have just 1 spearate for EU and US and players are allocated automatically to to shard that is not pop maxed instead of requiring players to do that manually.

So, what accounts for the huge jump in latency when Cyrodiil and other locations (like towns) get really crowded? I'm asking because I genuinely don't understand.
Gotta love it. Maxed gear, 8 gig of ram, 125mB of processing speed, set on lowest graphics level for highest processing speed attacking from stealth 2 on 1 and we cant get one dead before someone lags the system out and when the screen becomes unfrozen this is what you see.

Note the lag lasted all of 2 or 3 seconds.
Here is a bit of a video of my PvP experience. I record in low rez so it does not effect my game experience so it may not be pretty but it will give you an idea what it is like to be on my side of the screen. I am not accusing anyone of anything. I am merely pointing out that "something" is going on to cause the things that I see on my end.

I don't think all of your lag issues are just Zos servers. Think about the other parties involved in sending and receiving packets of data from your game. Your isp (internet service provider) and its infrastructure might not be healthy right now, especially in the summer heat. Also your isp head end is a bottle neck for multiplayer gaming. Also your modem/router might be struggling. I don't have these issues some of you have been experience. Yes, I lag sometimes but nothing very serious. It's irritating but I've never had consistent "slideshow" effect like the video above. Just me two cents coming from an experienced Comcast lineman. It's something else to consider to help your gaming experience.

While I don't think add-on performance is the most significant contributor to lag, I don't think that add-ons are entirely blameless, either. Earlier this week, I forgot to turn off one of my combat specific add-one while running a trial. The performance (my side only -- the other 11 in group had no issues) dropped to worse than slide show. Performance returned after I disabled that particular add-on.
