PvP, Wake me up.

Add my name to the list to be notified when I can get into a PvP battle without being lagged out, pushed to still screen, instadie do to 20 attacks suddenly showing up on my screen. I have NO issue with any other part of the game with this it is only in PvP. It is not due to just MASS combat either because I have had this happen when just fighting 1 person by myself without any massive AOE effects being mitigated. So you tell me what's up? When I can enter battle with out these issues I will "TRY" PvP again and not before. I also hear rumors of some Add-On that is spamming attacks being used in PvP. If this is causing the lag issues I feel there is one of two answers. NO ADD-ONs period, or some SERIOUS banning needs to be happening.

Peace call me when I can "enjoy" PvP.

agreed, PvP is pointless. Not only is PvP no longer fun, but stressful and aggravating!!

Zenimax and a ZoS Gamemaster can feel free to inform me as well, as i will NOT BE PvPing until these issues are fixed.

Yeah, I had to take a couple of weeks of from PvP because it was getting intolerable. Came back last night and it was decent though. Still had to hit skills and button swap a ton of times before anything finally happened but at least it happened as opposed to not....

Yes the lag makes me very upset at times as well. Really wish I could've known a dawnbreaker was used...

This keep jumping has got out of control as well.

Went to attack one keep, my team was jumping in, as I care to not do that I go to defend a keep. This keep was under attack by people whom jumped in, so very little reward was given when we "defended" the keep.

Went to defend another keep, again people had jumped in.

Out of several nights of play the MINORITY of keep attack/defense involved walls being broken down.

Even if you decide to keep it ZoS wtf is the point in keep walls?

The only thing that is really killing pvp for me right now is how often I'll have full stamina and I get cc'd and I just lay there or run in fear unable to break cc. It drives me insane.

To be honest, I know nothing about software, coding, programming, or whatever we're supposed to call it these days.

But am I being inaccurate when I say the mega-server idea might have failed spectacularly when it comes to PvP?

Dont think so. Mega server has nothing to do with PvP. its just a cool name for dynamic instancing - instead of few shards/servers you have just 1 spearate for EU and US and players are allocated automatically to to shard that is not pop maxed instead of requiring players to do that manually.

    Oh, okay.

So, what accounts for the huge jump in latency when Cyrodiil and other locations (like towns) get really crowded? I'm asking because I genuinely don't understand.

Can be a number of factors. A lot of times I find it is goofballs casting AOE heals in the middle of huge crowds.

The "shards" are technically individual servers. Which is why the game runs great in packed places like mournehold. But in cyrodil, everything is on one server. Which is why massive fights in alessia can be felt when your solo at aleswell....so...they may be able to implement seperate servers for each keep, but it would be very irritating chasing someone and have them dissapear from in front of you when they jump to a different server or "shard"

Gotta love it. Maxed gear, 8 gig of ram, 125mB of processing speed, set on lowest graphics level for highest processing speed attacking from stealth 2 on 1 and we cant get one dead before someone lags the system out and when the screen becomes unfrozen this is what you see.

Here is a bit of a video of my PvP experience. I record in low rez so it does not effect my game experience so it may not be pretty but it will give you an idea what it is like to be on my side of the screen. I am not accusing anyone of anything. I am merely pointing out that "something" is going on to cause the things that I see on my end.

yup - your video shows how bad the "lag" is in this game. As soon as you get attacked, the game turns into a slideshow, you get killed in under 2 seconds, can't do anything at all.

You aren't the only one. Game has been like this forever and has only gotten worse.

My FPS is like 90+ and my ping to server is 90.

    The game engine is garbage.

I play like an hour per month these days because of the severely broken PvP experience and spending a lot of time not playing ESO only makes one realize how incredibly bad the situation is with ESO. You log in to Cyrodiil, notice the 400 ping at North Gate, head down to a small battle and see your frame rate tank to 20. Once you find a fight not involving 100 people spamming snares, roots, stuns and Meteors and your ping meter shows that you only have 200ms latency to Germany, you realize that even in these for ESO ideal circumstances, the controls are still like operating a joystick while having your arms submerged to the elbows into a mixture of marmite and Hubba Bubba.

Such a shame, this was supposed to be a good game.

I don't think all of your lag issues are just Zos servers. Think about the other parties involved in sending and receiving packets of data from your game. Your isp (internet service provider) and its infrastructure might not be healthy right now, especially in the summer heat. Also your isp head end is a bottle neck for multiplayer gaming. Also your modem/router might be struggling. I don't have these issues some of you have been experience. Yes, I lag sometimes but nothing very serious. It's irritating but I've never had consistent "slideshow" effect like the video above. Just me two cents coming from an experienced Comcast lineman. It's something else to consider to help your gaming experience.

As I stated I run on a cable provider and my signal strength is 125 mb down and 5mb up to my head end. I speed test to insure the fact. The video came from my system. I have a top notch router and I run the best grade CAT 6 LAN to said router to avoid signal issues from handheld devices that may over load WiFI. My system is also sitting right next to my router so my LAN cable is fairly short. If you watch the WHOLE video you will see that I am lagging fighting against 3 people in the beginning and then when I get into the larger groups of 6 and 10 in my general area the lag issue goes away.

I am not sold that it is just the game mechanics causing the issue. I am seriously wondering if there is not spamming cheat add-ons being used that fill the processing in the area causing the lag.

I can't believe that the developers would release the game into the market knowing that the PvP arena could not handle standard processing. I would imagine it was tested with simulated usage of max players to insure the strength of the game.

What they could not calculate in however is the add-ons that people would be using in combat. I myself was running an combat add-on that allowed me to see what effects I was having thrown at me. All these add-ons take up processing time.

There are also what I would call passive and aggressive add-ons. The one I was using was passive the only person it effected was me because all it was doing was using my system to tell me what was happening to my character.

I have heard there are cheat engines out there that Spam attacks. In example: the macro when initiated spams the number 1 over and over again during the whole combat. This is an aggressive add-on because it is causing the game system to have to process information faster than a human could cause it to happen. It is the difference between hitting the number 1 for an attack and holding it down like this.. 111111111111111111111111111. There is nearly 10 to 12 times more processing happening in one second on the system. Now think of just 10 people in a battle running the same engine. That is 100 to 120 times the processing than what the system was designed and tested for.

Each time the number 1 is hit your system is telling the ESO system I am doing X. Then the ESO system has to ask your system what X is. Then it has to check and see if you have enough Mana for example to do X. Then if you do have enough it has to initiate the effect of X. Then it has to check against the opposition to see if X did damage and how much damage. Plus it has to do the cinema for both you and the opponent. Then it has to tally and store the effect on short term memory all the while checking to insure that death has not occurred in the battle. It is also doing this for your opponents attacks. So multiply that effect times 2.

Now calculate all of this for someone running a cheat engine that is spamming the number 1 10 to 12 times as fast. Even if you have no mana the system still has to check the attack.

Now the question is why is it the person NOT running the cheat engine is the one who lags out. I am going to use a plumber's analogy for this. Data is nothing more than electrical impulses it is like water. On one side I have, the cheater, a 50 gallon drum of water. on the other side, the regular player, a 5 gallon bucket both are pouring into a 1 inch water line and are joined at a Y to a single 1 inch water line. Which one will pour out more gallons per second? The 50 gallon drum. Why? Because it is exerting more pressure. That is what a cheat engine is doing to the server in PvP.

That is my own theory of what is going on in the PvP combat.

While I don't think add-on performance is the most significant contributor to lag, I don't think that add-ons are entirely blameless, either. Earlier this week, I forgot to turn off one of my combat specific add-one while running a trial. The performance (my side only -- the other 11 in group had no issues) dropped to worse than slide show. Performance returned after I disabled that particular add-on.

    Because they don't care.

Role players and people who buy £30 mounts are all care about. Things that make money. Pvp takes too much time that doean't generate revenue.

Simple as. It'll never get better. They aren't working on it, they'll never fix it. Only way it won't lag is when nobody plays it. But they won't care. They'll still be selling £20 appearance changes and £15 costumes to the pve crowd.

No digs at anyone. I play a lot of pve and bought my fair share of mounts. Just saying how it is.

Even their pve DLC is getting lazy. IC, Wrothgar, hew's bane, gold Coast, 2 dungeons. Judging on the shrinking size next one will be a boat. Oh wait, they'll add 5 houses and charge £40 for each one. Dollar dollar bill y'all.
