Heavy armor magDK, which 5p set?

Right now I'm trying out tava's but what would be the best set to use? Kagrenacs, magnus, seducers or elf bane? It seems elf bane 5p bonus is kinda useless since dots get purged before the 2 extra seconds come in.

I prefer Tava's. With HA you're never going to be mega-bursty; you'll be relying on your ultimates to get the big hits in and I don't thing anything beats Tava's for that.

If you get into a fight against a build that runs away to stealth nuke then it doesn't trigger constitution enough. I have noticed that a lot and I have to be real careful when I chase. If you try it go with 7 heavy to maximize constitution. I run it with drinks as well.

Do you not find that the reduction in max magicka from drinks over food hurts your damage and lower max health kills DB even further? Or do you have Resto on your back bar?

As you said, I found that relying on constitution for regen (especially with no pieces of LA) forces you to be really careful with selecting engagements; if you're not getting hit every 4 seconds, I suppose the regen is poor even with drinks? I just can't imagine running S&B without the extra max stamina from food - even with prismatic glyphs, as your magicka pool would take a hit in addition to the lack of food. But I do have a 5pc BR & 2pc HA Bloodspawn around somewhere, can't hurt to give it a go. I have way more armour sets (Tava's, Kag's, BS, Skoria, Black Rose, Transmutation, Julianos, hell I even have a VD set... I was desperate), for my mDK than for any of the other classes.

I've tried running calculations and getting (pretty accurate) representations of stats with different sets equipped, but - for mDK significantly more so than other classes - I found that you really don't know if it will work until you try it. Bloody expensive though.

It is low. my max magicka is 25k, (wouldn't be as bad if I wasn't a nord) but my spell damage is over 3k. I'm using reverberating bash (thanks to stam constitution), engulfing, and igneous with flame lash. It doesn't have the 30k+ magicka like most but it stacks damage, and keeps them from overcoming it all with heals.

I'm using a powered resto but also using cDB as a regular buff even before my health drops. I get a lot of health from heavy armor and nord. I'm at 27-28k with drinks depending on the monster set I'm wearing.

You can buy it in impenetrable straight for telvar stones, but to get another trait I think you have to buy the coffers and pray.

Well it's down to tava's, kagrenacs or black Rose I think I might stick with tava's then because the ultimate regen is really nice, the only downside is it requires shuffle, if only the would change cinder storm so that you get evasion when standing in it

You can use shuffle on a magDK but you just have to watch out with resources.

The best way to achieve the Major Evasion buff is to combine Shuffle with the CP passive 'Unchained'. This passive reduces the cost of stamina abilities by 80% for 3 seconds after breaking free - so whenever you get CCd you can cast shuffle for a significantly reduced cost. If you try to use shuffle 'normally' you are very likely to run into resource issues.

@Stratforge also, you can do shuffle then cast igneous shield or do an ultimate to get resources back. The ultimate gain with tavas + bloodspawn doesn't make it that much of an issue.

I use it whenever, just use mist form straight after and you will regen the cost back. Otherwise use it after unchained.
