I'm just going to keep tagging you gina. The drop rate on this is borked and it needs fixing.
@XaXa Gina still on leave tag everyone else @ZOS_KaiSchober @ZOS_DaryaK @ZOS_Finn @ZOS_JesusV @ZOS_JessicaFolsom CAN you guys tell us anything about why the drop rate is so bad?
I've probably put 15-20 hours total into vet maelstrom so far. I've made it to the final boss. Haven't cleared it yet mainly because I can only take the place in small doses. I can't say I've *enjoyed* a single minute of my time spent in there. It's glitchy as hell, and a solid 3/4 of my deaths feel like they were to lag/bugs rather than errors on my part. Now, I'm sure that's not actually the case. Guy in my guild got his first deathless run today, so I know it can be done, but when most of your deaths are from 100-0% health bursts, that is the impression it leaves.
I'm sure I'll complete it eventually. I'm maining a stamina dk (not the character I run maelstrom with), and the weapons would be a huge boost to my dps. That's the problem though, and the reason that I can't bring myself to put in the effort to finish the place right now- I know that the odds of me getting one of the weapons I need off of my first run are almost infinitely small. My time spent in there thus far has been SO unenjoyable, that the thought of having to GRIND the place for a CHANCE at what I want out of it is absolutely soul crushing. When I hear people in my guilds talking about having completed the place literally HUNDREDS of times without getting the weapon they want (in any trait), it makes any motivation I might have built up to run the place disappear completely. IMO, any piece of content as challenging as vet maelstrom should not have "useless" items in the loot table for the final reward. Even if they removed all the non-weapons and truly useless traits from the table, there would still be enough options left to make the odds of getting what you want on the first several runs pretty small. I'd also be greatly in favor of a token system. At least then you would feel like you had made some kind of progress after completing a run, rather than opening the final chest only to discover that the previous hour or more of hell you've put yourself through was for literally nothing- an item you will be vendoring for less than the cost of ONE of the MANY potions you have burned through to get to that point.
