Help with PvP

Chronos9
Chronos9
Starting PvP, complete noob, never ever done it in any MMORPG( played quite a few). Need help with it since I might start doing it once I finish PvE. My class is a night blade and I play a stamina build in PvE, any builds, tips guides would really help.

    1. Plan on dying.......A Lot.
    2. Run with a group or follow others to learn the basics
    3. Bring lots of soul gems and rez everyone you can.
    4. Bring potions - Resources go quickly.
    5. Have fun!!!!

I prefer PVP over PVE. I'm not the best player but love the challenge. Don't get frustrated. Understand you are going to die at first far more than you will survive. Run back out, learn from the experience, and laugh it off. PVP can be very frustrating in the beginning, especially for PVE only players.

Great tips for PvP and builds can be found just by doing a search here on the forums .

Make sure your mount has plenty of speed and stam! or you will get left behind a lot. You will be on your mount travailing from battle to battle so the quicker you are there the more involved you will be and the more you will learn. Learn how to siege and bring them with you into battle. You will die a lot but you loose nothing but time by doing so.

Your build is important so do some research first and know that you will change it down the road anyway. Your lack of PvP skill will more than likely get you killed the most. I did PVE only for about 2 yrs before entering PvP and trying to kill another player takes a whole new set of skills on your bars.

Find a group of friends to run with. Solo PvP is not for the faint of heart.

How long do you think it would take to get caltrops if I started.

A day if you enter a busy campaign and run along the masses. Prioritze defense of owned keeps over offense to get others, way more payout.

The skill you want as a stamblade is vigor.

Be prepared to lose every single 1v1 for quite some time. Don't even try 1vX for an even longer time.

Your build makes a large difference, but knowing how to react when under which circumstance is a hundred times more important.

Not long, a day or two depending on how long your sessions are. But once you get them I'd recommended leveling them with questing over PvP

You really need to slot a heal for PvP. You will not be able to burst down opponents with your skill bars as is, and in turn won't survive their counters with no heal.

Your setup is going to be very rough unless you are absolutely running with a group and have great healers. Otherwise you might find that you'll need two hander and rally plus when you get vigor you'll need to slot it somewhere. You'll likely want blur/shuffle too. And like everyone has said, you'll die often and you'll die quickly but if you power through that stage and find you enjoy the challenge, you'll be addicted... Unless you get rolled over by endless zergs... Sometimes that gets disheartening... And by sometimes I mean always.
Looking for broken things in hopes they may be fixed. I've given up, my game literally works differently from yours.

Also, maybe check this out if you have time to look at it.

Some really basic advice I could give, being new, spend some Alliance Points on Oil and Fire Ballistas/Trebuchets. When defending a keep put some of these down and run them, you will get a good overview of how these battles shake out and you'll make some good Alliance Points from running anti infantry siege.

No matter how comfortable you are with a PvE build, you'll change it a few times when you go to PvP, and then a few times more after that as you start adjusting to PvP.
There's lots of build videos you can watch to get ideas to match your preferred play style, but even after you think you're ready just accept that you'll die a lot. Take the PvP build videos you watch with a grain of salt...all those awesome God-like videos are the highlight reels and everyone gets steamrolled on occasion, so don't lose heart.

How about shadow cloak, ambush and piercing mark to replace for some them. My main other problem is armour since like I said before I have Hunding's rage and I have recently got Leki's ring and necklace, and some guides suggest having heavy armour on some parts and some of which are hard to obtain.

Seems the thread has moved from a intro to Cyrodiil - to help with your build. Which is fine, I actually enjoy this stuff. Although, it's kind of difficult to theorycraft a setup for you cause most of us don't know what you can afford or craft, what your preferences are, etc.

For instance, do you prefer certain weapons? Do you have the gold to buy gear? Can you craft your own armor?

1.I prefer daggers as a primary choice of weapon and a bow as a secondary.2. Getting there.3.Medium armour yes, but not Rubedite level equipment, trying to get my medium armour 6 traits to craft some stuff.

That's honestly a difficult build cause you are going to lack an out-of-combat Major Brutality buff like Rally, you can pop a potion though.

    Maybe try something like this?

    DW Bar
    Ambush
    Surprise Attack
    Steel Tornado/Killer's Blade
    Steel Tornado/Flying Blade
    Mass Hysteria
Incapacitating Strike (Dawnbreaker of Smiting is awesome though)

    Bow Bar
    Draining Shot
    Shuffle
    Lethal Arrow
    Cloak
    Rapids/Relentless Focus/Mark (Flex)
    Soul Tether

Just hopping into Cyrodiil and learning the ropes, I would try to run with groups and in that case you'd offer up more utility if you run Rapids for them. Once you get vigor the build can change quite a bit too.

    Could go..

    1 Kena or Bloodspawn (armor)
    5 PC Hundlings Rage (armor)
5 PC Marksmen (Jewels, 1 armor, 1 bow)
    2 PC Leki (daggers)

Sorry to bother you again. Final question enchantments and recommended potions and should I level them all to max or just get into PvP. Thank you SneaK you have been a big help.
