Heavy Armor Builds Post Thieves Guild

olivaresdonjuan
I haven't seen any heavy armor builds in a long time so this brings me to ask this question, are they obsolete? I've thinking of ways to implement heavy armor to my builds but I only stick to two pieces max. Does anyone know of any class/race that does well with heavy armor? PvP or PVE builds, it doesn't really matter, I'm pretty sure I'm not the only thinking about it.

I still use heavy, it does make things really difficult though, becaus our passives are pretty awful. Heavy is supposed to be getting a well deserved buff and rework after the next expansion. It is long overdue in my opinion though. All the other armors have great passives, and heavy doesnt even get extra crit resistance :/.

I know, I used to run all heavy until I got into pvp. Where did you read about the armor buffs?

Ran 5 heavy 2 light nightblade. Works well enough. Not putting up fantastic numbers, but I am still working on it. I was skeptical at first, but heavy works.

I run 7/7 heavy on my night blade in pvp it's not dead just harder to use than the other armor sets. The trick is to abandon the idea of being a meat shield and start thinking about being a real tank. You know moves slow but hits hard and takes a lot of damage. For example my surprise attack hits for just over 7k unbuffed, mean while at the same time I have 20% dodge 28k resistance; 35k stam and 25k health with food. And vigor heals me for 11k. Also look to fix your regen I did this with enchantments and champ points so even in 7/7 heavy I don't run out of stam quickly if I pace myself.

Oh god, I dont know where it was to be honest, something about coming with the Dark Brotherhood. I really hope it gets some love. It seems in mmos heavy armor always gets shafted.... :(

If you run full heavy you penalize yourself by not getting the full Undaunted buff. People who want to use full heavy are actively penalized in this game, for some stupid reason - everything from buffs to regen is penalized.

Well, this isn't really heavy armor specific since the same applies if you run full light or full medium. If you want to call out the weaknesses of running heavy armor for your build, this is not one of them. Look rather at the actual heavy armor passives and how few of them jump out at you as must-haves.

They are not wrong that undaunted passives rob from heavy armor, they just didn't quite explain the reason why correctly. After the introduction of undaunted passives you had a choice when looking at health bonuses of 7 percent more health for full heavy, 11 percent more health for 5heavy /1/1, and 7 percent more health for 5 light or medium /1/1.

The 7 percent health for dipping 1/1 decentivizes the previously unique health % passive of heavy armor by making the passive inefficient and superfluous.

    vicious guile:

    2 engine/malubeth/bloodspawn/1kena 1bloodspawn/2nerieneth
    5fasallas
    5vd s/b or dw
    1maelstrom-resto for more sustain/heal.

a fun combo for smallscale/skirmishes on a mag-blade... walking meatbag... you will need some burst-assist, though

lotus & sap are cloakers nightmare
fasalla debuff puts high pressure on enemies relying on self-heals.
did not die to any gank-attempt since i run this combo... only the few ones, pulling the shade-trick managed to get way.
conceal 5HA behind a squishy looking disguise.

    s&b: lotus, funnel, s&b-reflect, sap, fear, soul-tether
resto: siphonings, healing path, mutagen, purge, proxy, meteor.

    have fun.

As a new sap tank fan...^^That build looks fun, and annoying >=). May have to start saving fasala pieces. I've been using 5 pc transmutation/ 3 will power/ 3 engine guardian. It's hilarious watching gankers realize they chose the wrong argonian to jump lolol.

It is many factors in both pve and pvp.

In pvp it is a popularity issue. It takes a special kind of carrot to enjoy playing a pvp tank and the community is always small. This means they have a small voice. The majority of the populous spends there time in pvp bursting people down and getting busted themselves. They love it when they kill something and they hate it when they die. But what they hate even more than dying, is running into someone who is seemingly immune to their burst combo. Tanks make them feel impotent.

In pve, it is a combination of dps power creep and game designers insisting on making dps and time major factors of a scoring system. If they make tanks super strong then an entire raid of people no longer feel challenged by content. And since tanks don't ever get to excel in their field the moment they can be replaced, they will be replaced to get more dps for leader boards.

I run 5 pc Kagrenacs Heavy, 2 pc light Valkyn Skoria, s/b Torug Pacts, resto + 3 pc Transmutation with 2 Magicka recovery enchants and 1 spell damage. I can Push 30k spell resist with 1500 magicka recovery. I love it. I only have like 40 CP on magicka recovery and 100 in reduce cost. Dark Elf Magicka DK.

2 pieces of heavy give more rsisstance
2 pieces of heavy gives 2% more max health and healing recieved
    More return from constitution passive.

Been running 7/7 heavy tank in pvp since beta, pvp i never tried full heavy but am seriously considering it.
mDKs still need a lot of love!
