Share your stamina Templars, I have a stamplar I have not played with since pre-orcinium. What works and what has changed?

I started playing a Stamplar in Non-Vet PVP a couple weeks ago. While I am by no means a top tier PVPer, I can definitely hold my own and have been having a blast playing it. While my build is probably less relevant when taking endgame gear and CP into consideration, hopefully it can serve as a good starting off point for somebody looking to get into playing Stamplar.

    2H Bar:
-Stampede (I use the snare morph to help me land my biting jabs, but I wouldn't dismiss using Crit Rush for the extra damage either, I just haven't gotten a chance to play around with the other morph yet.)
    -Biting Jabs
    -Executioner
    -Binding Javelin
    -Rally

    Bow Bar:
-Poison Injection (note that having Binding Javelin on my other bar, with the recently increased range, negates a lot of the advantage of using the morph that interrupts casters.)
    -Resolving Vigor
    -Shuffle
-Radiant Aura (since I'm too poor to keep potions up all the time, I like having another way to get my regen buffs going. If you can afford to use potions frequently, Repentance is probably the better morph.)
-For my 5th skill I swap between Rapid Maneuver (mainly for the movement speed going between keeps), Purifying Ritual (to remove DOTs or debuffs, especially when being sieged), or Caltrops (especially when in choke points or other tight places) depending on the situation.

Also note that I don't like using Wrecking Blow, not because I'm trying to "make a stand" against it for being too powerful or anything, simply because I don't like the feel of my main DPS being a skill that has a cast time. But if you don't mind that, it is a very strong skill and is probably worth swapping in for another skill.

For gear, I just run 5 piece Hunding's Rage and 3 piece Night's Silence. I would be using Agility jewelry if I had it, but being non-vet it isn't easy finding jewelry sets, so I just use 3 robust jewelry pieces with either stam regen or weapon damage enchants depending on what you need more of. If you're at VR16 and have access to endgame gear, there are plenty of better options for gear (Agility, Briarhheart, Molag Kena, Blood Spawn, Marksman, etc.), but having to upgrade gear regularly I just stick with crafted for non-vet.

Another thing to note is that for no-CP PVP, I prefer to put more into regen than you would otherwise, but if you're using crafted gear and you wanted to focus a little more on weapon damage you could use Night Mother's Gaze over Night's Silence.

Stamplar are much more tanky, major mending is a very nice buff.

With 70% of Cyrodil focused on Vicious Death not a lot of people have got around to Faslas Guile which is absurdly good and will be all the rage in a few weeks.

Outside of major messing the extended range of javelin is nice, other then those two things not much to report for stamplar.

If you carry channels focus you could squeeze in eclipse which would I situationally nice but it's expensive in a stam build me you would have to very careful how you used it.

    I'm loving ny stamplar.

    I'm a redguard.

    32k stam
    21k health (in pvp)
3.7k weapon damage (before light attack)
    2.1k regen
Magica is irrelevant as it's used for one skill only.

2h and bow. Running 5 hunding's and 3 morkuldin (was 4 when I was sword an board so haven't switched anything. Could go ashen for more health and damage. If you have maelstrom weapons, those plus bloodspawn and kena.) 3 agility all weapon damage.

    2h maul bar:
    Biting jabs
    Executioner
    Rally
    Repentance
Stampede (snare is good for landing jabs)
    Flawless dawnbreaker

    Bow bar:
    Shuffle
    Binding javelin
    Vigor
Venom arrow (really liking the interrupt on it)
    Purifying Ritual
    Ice comet/wearwolf

It hits really hard. My ice comet does even 16.5k and I obviously have nothing species into elemental.

It also has really good sustain and pretty good survivability (dodge plus impen). Could put the rune in for the resistance and minor buffs if you had room for more survivability. Nothing I'd want to drop for it though.

The only things that have really changed are; restoring focus is a godsend and should be on one of your bars. With heavy attacks and battle rush if you're running 2h you can drop repentance, especially if you have bats or WW to slot. Crescent sweep is a pretty sexy ulti to use, nice initial damage, nice dot, added pressure 4-11k dmg not unheard of on first dmg tick. IMO sword or axe is better than maul, pen is garbage in this meta, so take the extra 5% dmg/heals or get a chance to proc bleeds up to 3.7k ticks. Jav or wrecking blow as your hard CC.

I have just started my stamplar as my main. All previous stamplars I know are complaining about the changes and feel as they really got the short end of this stick this patch. That being said I am greatly enjoying my stamplar. I run my gear as follows
    • 5 hunding
    • 1 kena
    • 2-3 night mothers gaze (depends on bar)
My usual weapons for pvp are Sword and Board with Two Hander in the back. Rarely do I swap for DW and Bow for pvp use.
    Flawless Conqueror 6 times over.
All HM clears and PvE titles - Angler.
    PvP all factions.

What's your sustain like? My main was a stam dk and my secondary was a magic dk so sustaining health and resources wasn't bad. Can the stamplar do this? I'm ok with 2.5k weapon damage.

When i eventually actually bother to level my lvl 15 stamplar at v16 i'm looking to use this set up

    5 hundings
    5 marksmen
Either maelstrom weps or 1 kena.

Should give more than enough sustain while still having 3700 wpn dmg, being a redguard + repentance will help a lot.

3 marksmen are going to be rings/neck
2 are going to be armour pieces.

Then you have 5 armour slots left and 1-2 weapon slots depending if your using 2h/dw/s+b/bow etc...

Now i was going to use 2h/bow but may switch to dw for certain situations.

If you have the maelstrom weps which is preferable then use the weps and use 5 hundings as armour pieces.

If you don't then use 1 hunding 2h/bow and 4 hundings on the body with 1 piece kena.

The maelstrom set up would be preferably as they give you 60 more wpn dmg.

I'm planning on trying a bow/dual-wield Stamplar build which focuses on funnelling groups and bursting them down with AoE dots, executing with steel tornado, as well as high mobility with the bow Major Expedition passive coupled with OP Orcish sprint speed. It won't pump out as much DPS as the usual 2-hand set up but it'll be something different and hopefully makes life easier against groups.

The only real problem I've seen as a stamplar is using biting jabs against shields which yields less than satisfactory results. This leans me towards slotting wrecking blow just for that burst to break through the shield

Yup ditched jabs after the update as it stopped gaining cc immunity which i find now useless so I swapped for wrecking blow.

wtf? 70% snare vs 0.2 sec stun free cc immunity.
Whats wrong with you? It also now works on shields with the burning light procc.

I ditched wb because its cheesy noobstuff.

Binding Javelin was always a superior CC to Biting Jabs and you should have been using a CC on your target before Jabs anyway otherwise you were giving them free CC immunity.

Why not have both slotted? One for the snare and one for dps/ cc

I personally roll with Wrecking Blow and Jabs. Use WB for the CC and empowered Dawnbreaker. Use jabs for the snare/+crit and aoe dmg.

I've been working on my stamplar more and I'm finding that a good set up uses both jabs and wrecking blow. Wrecking blow is just too good of a cc/dmg not to use. Spamming it isn't optimal for me though. A good combo so far for single target has been: stampede, wrecking blow, light attack, jabs, heavy attack (good dmg and restores stam), wrecking blow, executioner. Sometimes you can just go straight to the execute instead of the second wrecking blow. I'm still working on good 1vx stuff though.

Oh, I forget if it's been said, but repentence is a must I feel like. It'll help with your resource issues and gives a good heal.

I find Stamplars super fun right now. I play an Orc and use The Steed for tanking and PvP (Warrior for group DPS.) Easy to change roles between DPS and Tank with gear/Mundus swap and offers some unique benefits (Repentance, Power of the Light) when tanking. Binding Javelin is silly useful for setting up charge combos and making Jabs effective in PvP (I don't care for WB even though I know I should) while block casting it is useful against enemy beam spammers. Long range insta-stun is worth the cost imo.

Notable tool: Restoring Focus. Good Magicka dump and increases tankiness quite a bit. Loving this right now.
