I haven't played since before Imperial City, but when I did PvP back then, I had a lot more fun. I'm not really sure what the hell is going on, but I'm getting rolled in 1v1s now. Not even, like, "Uh oh, I guess Ill just try and survive as long as I can". More like BOOM. ONETWOTHREE DEAD.
Then I ran into some kind of permanently invisible guy who, even when not stealthed, would appear to be a shadow (While playing a Dragon Knight) and beat the hell out of me, while all my attacks phase through him. What the hell is this? Whats going on with that?

I haven't played since before Imperial City,

Check your Mundus Stone, it may not be there any more. I think it was the IC update that reset everyone's Mundus.

Enjoy the game, life is what you really want to be worried about.

PakKat "Everything was going well, until I died"
Gary Gravestink "I am glad you died, I needed the help"

Well, I went and redid my stone. Only to turn my ass to a single enemy player and run. Didn't matter though. He caught me, knocked me down with one move, and took me from 100% to 0% with his second move. Two moves. That's not an exaggeration.

What class do you play? You sound squishy (no offense intended). Pvp is very bursty these days meaning those that survive are those that counter burst.

I'm a lvl 40 Templar. I'm only wearing the gear I crafted for myself

You need to be in all lvl 40 gear to be battle levelled properly. Keep it all blue same goes for jewellery. Change it all again when lvl 46-47.

Also Templars are terrible. It was the IC patch that broke them even further. You could go get some Syrabane rings and light armour or do the sensible thing and re roll.

Update gear to highest level available, make sure it is at the very least purple (blue if you are very skilled, even then, make at least the chest piece purple), try to get gold weapons if you can. Make sure it is enchanted, use a food/drink buff (I favour drinks, even for burst builds, because sustain is handy), make sure you have at the barte minimum some potions on hand for your primary resource, and make sure your build is made with a goal in mind, and choose armour/jewelry/weapon sets, enchantments, mundus, etc. with those things in mind.

Example of a goal taken from one of my builds is High stamina regen/High weapon damage. Another example from another build of mine is High health + health regen (for my tank)

Don't want to start an argument but purple and gold? He'll out level them in 3 days!

I do stack certain things as I craft new gear. I tried stam stacking, magica stacking, health stacking, and all that. I mean, that was as I was leveling, and not as close to end-game, but... I guess it could be my lack of optimal gear/glyphs... Maybe.

I have a hard time believing that that's the different between a fighting chance and /literally/ getting oneshotted, though...

The player you fought was most likely using Shuffle, a morph of Evasion from the Medium armor tree. It gives him 20% dodge chance and that "shadowy" appearance you described.

The Meta in PVP right now is leaning heavily on the damage side of things. It is hard to be successful as a tanky/tanky build right now unless you know what you're doing. Whoever is doing the most damage is the likely winner of the fight, especially if you're 1v1.

Along those lines, many successful builds try to mitigate damage with skills and abilities instead of stats. That was people can build for really high damage and depend on mechanics like dodge, invisibility, sheilds, ect. for surviveability instead of health/armor/resistance/ect.

You play a templar, which is a major reason you are doing poorly. the Templar is the weakest class atm, I highly advise rolling a different class. Even a mana DK would do you better than a Templar.

Sounds like you ran into someone using the medium Armour skill, I think one of of the morphs is called Shuffle. This will make the player look like a shadow and give him a 20% dodge chance. I am not sure what the morphs add, but this is the base effect.

I have pumped overload into a Nightblade with this on. Out of about 15 shots, only 2 hit. Guy was lucky. I always try to match ambush spam with Overload spam haha.
My ping is higher than your resource recovery...

I dunno but i think shuffle may be bugged.... when other use it and i try hit them i have similar results, almost all my attacks miss, more like an 80% chance of missing,

When i use it though, every thing hit me.. i dunno, maybe i am using the skill wrong, are there areas in CP that increase the miss chance.......

What am i missing about shuffle........
