What sets for magicka dk in 2.3?

I'm thinking kena or VS for a monster set
Either kags or julianos with 2pc torug or magnus and willpower jewelry.
Anyone else have ideas?
This is for a more dps oriented build.

Depends if you are going all out dmg or some dmg and recovery

If you're fighting in groups, I think 5 Julianos, 5 vicious death (jewelry and weapons) and skoria would be a strong combo. If you want more damage, go apprentice, if you want recovery then go atronach

What about small scale 3 people in your group vs like max of 5 enemies? I'm not looking for zergbusting I just wanna be able to sustain my dps but I can't do dps with my 5kag 4magnus right now cuz my max spell power is capping at 2.8k and barely a crit with 1.5k recov

You'd probably do perfectly fine with the typical 5x Julianos/Kagrenacs, 3x Willpower, 2x Molag Kena/Valkyn Skoria, and 2x Torug's Pact Swords or Maelstrom Staves. Atronach or Thief/Shadow depending on recovery.

There's no going wrong with any of this gear on a magicka build if you have over 300CP.

Kag x5
Monster set x2 (many different choices, but I'm going for at least 1 kena)
Willpower x3 (except on resto bar)
Endurance x2

Heavy chest, and medium leggings or helm (depends on monster helm drops).

Atronach mundus, and health / mag food (leave tristats to tankier builds)

Pretty straightforward, and this is still my pick for open world even after seeing the new sets. Vicious death is mostly a zerg buster, when you want to time a proxy + meteor + (deep breath / impulse / talons / else)

Sustain>burst in pvp. I run 5 kags/ 4 Magnus/ 3 willpower. My Sd is 2.6k unbuffed and my recovery is 2k It does very well. It's just going to get better

Arrrggggghhhh, hopefully I get my computer back from Apple today, it'll be tomorrow at the latest then I'll be jumping on the PTS to test some builds.

On paper, at the moment I'm thinking 5 TBS heavy, 1Kena medium 1 Seducer light - All divines. 3 willpower. S&B 2 seducer and Destro seducer. Thief will be 1 mundus and I'll experiment between All S/D jewlery enchants and Apprentice/Attro mundus to see what SD / Recovery ratio works best.

Option B: Duel Wield swords instead of S/B.

Failing that, I'll switch over to 5 piece Julianos heavy impen. I really want to go heavy so that I can stay in the thick of it in PVP,

99.9% likely to have a mirror set in light for PVE.

If I wanted more sustain I think I go drinks and 3 piece arch Mage would push me up to about 1.8k Magic recovery and not lose to much spell damage but I do very well with out it I like my max magic and Max spell power to much. I tried to change it up to more sustain issue was fights lasted to long Opponents Could heal through damage and I ended up useing just as much resources and not killing fast. With my set up now I can cc apply dots and whip 2 or 3 times and dead other way felt I was doing same thing but over and over again with out killing. I can see sustain being better though bc u can cc a group and let my friends do the damage more but I love killing XD

I main a Mag DK, and I can tell you personally stay away from molag kena. Skoria is good but not best in slot for PvP.

My Setup:

2 Bloodspawn
5 Kags
3 Willpower
2 Torugs Pact
2 Potentates

I realize Potentates is only v14 but having 1200 Stam regen on my back bar is amazing

This seems more as a magic tank DK then DPS like he asked for in pvp. How does this do on damage and is it group play or solo? That stam regen does seem nice to have!

Pretty much my build on my magicka DK today. Nereineth + destro instead of resto tho. Group build, not for solo.

in 2.3 i doubt ill keep kags on her. Probably going pure firebat allahu akbar with vicious + kena + alchemist.

5x juliannos/kag
2x blood spawn - Dk's rely on ult's for sustain and burst to actually kill people, it seems very important to have.

Then i'm not too sure about the rest, if i'm in a good group i'll likely go 5 VD

However if i'm solo or in a pair then i'd need more sustain so then maybe 3x willpower and then 2x seducer or torug's depending what i need.

2 pc Kena (too stronk not to have)

Skoria is oke but only for aoe, single target kena is superior.

That is the set up I was using lol before I went to Stam
What race are you? I struggled with my dark elf for sustain in magicka

For pve I'm currently running kena set. I have the Skoria set as well,but since I haven't played the pts for testing purposes I'm not sure what will be best. Skorias buff does seem promising and would make rotations easier due to fact that you don't have to throw in some light attack weaves to proc it and then med weave again. As far as sustain issues go. The groups I normally run with kill boss before I have that problem. Plus someone in group is running ele drain.

Skoria and kena will be neck-and-neck in PvE. This thread is about PvP though.

Potentate is v14 and you lose a ton of stats running it. Not viable, in my opinion.

I don't think the vicious plus alchemist combo will be any good except for suicide bombing. I guess that's what you're going for though...
Tbh, that setup is gonna be insane on magicka NB. The ganks will be ridiculous.

If you want sustain and since you have other group members with you. Try:

5x Tava's Favor
2x Blood Spawn
5x Fasalla's guile/Vicious Death

Fasalla for more tankiness and vicious for some damage.

This set up lets you generate a lot of ulti for sustain.

Kag's > Julianos for Mag DK PvP imo. Since you don't have a respectable damage shield, the bit of extra health isn't wasted, as most good pvp'ers are running crit mitigation from impen/shields and that's who we build to kill. The 70 odd spell damage isn't insignificant, but its not worth giving up the recovery for imo.

I'll be running something like

5 Kag's
2 monster pieces (kena, bloodspawn, skoria, engine guardian)
5 Fasalla's

Allows you to build tanky, have reasonable burst(meteor + fossilize), good sustain, and apply constant pressure with Fasalla's heal debuff
