I havent played the game in about five months because of other games releasing and can't decide between which of my two characters to level and use.

Stam NB is super OP and King of IC. I have both and if I could only pick one I would go with stam NB.

I also have both... For me it's not even comparable... Magic sorc... Stam NB imo is too squishy... I'm one of the few who think the Nb class is hugely overrated...

NB for insta-kills, Sorc for 1vX. Depends on your playstyle, gank or godliness.

Sorry, just popped into my head...

They're both very strong. Just pick whatever you enjoy playing more.

This is a MMO, things change. Whatever is strong now may not be after the next content patch.

I'd go with stam NB. Sorc is nice in some ways, but has a few bad weaknesses: escape options are only so so. Time to kill very long vs some targets (harness magicka is probably the main issue). In 1 vs 2+ shieldbreaker set devastates you.

Stam Nightblade and magicka sorcerer are both excellent in PvP. In PvE however, nothing compares to a magicka sorcerer.

PvP go for NB, in open combat I would say Sorc, however most battles do not start that way.

Stealth or cloak + ambush or fear = gg

No sorc can beat the perma stun (no class can)

In PvE I would say Sorc

Short answer - Magic Sorc is cheat mode tbh. NB is great if you are more of an opportunist than a skill player.

I think easy to play hard to master type but once you mastered it your basically a king in pvp. Single target you use the c. frag/curse combo to get instane burst as you keep yourself safe of one shots with bubble stacks. In groupe you got the best AOE CC abilities in the game. You also have super high mobility. On the plus side, you can do all that with an ''in your face'' attitude as you dont really need to hide and go invis like NB does.

Stam NB is tons of fun but most people run it on a cheesy build. If you play like a bastardly opportunist, you will one shot tons of people, have abilities to not get killed often right after the act (racking up truckloads of AP solo). In Zergs you can make your steel tornado hit for amazing numbers and if you run Bats you will only have to faceroll a keyboard to make your team win. They also have the best multible target cc in game in my opinion in Mass Hysteria. But I find that in 1v1 fair fights its a lot harder versus other stamina classes. On the flip side, I find it easier to kill a magika sorc on a stam nb than on any other stam class.

Note that there are people using Stam NB on a skirmisher build for duels/small scale and have lots of success with it. But I dont know the details on how this build works therefore, I cant really comment.

For open world pvp Stam NB by a long shot. Magika sorc is kinda tanky, but the "OP shield stack" is really just 2 shields against a stamina build and one of them is tiny until you're low-ish health and expensive.

Stam NB is probably the most survivable build imo. And highly effective even without using camo hunter.

    SnB bar
    surprise attack
    ambush
    cloak
    defensive posture
    vigor

    2h Bar
    Rally
    Double Take
    Grim Focus
    fear
    shadow image

If you use your reflect properly you'll eat any ranged magika build, especially since they can't mitigate your damage with CP.
If situations get hairy, roll dodge twice, cloak or shadow image, cloak gets you out of most situations and none of your buffs/heals pull you out of cloak.

Honestly, stam NB is so good right now that I'd question anyone saying magika sorc is currently better, they're probably stam NB themselves. If you have good positioning and use terrain well you'll have much better success as a stam NB than any other class for open world pvp.

Stamblade is really strong right now, and sorc has been nerfed many times in the last few patches. Stamblade still gives you the option to go in, kill, and get out. Can't do that with a sorc anymore.

Your stamblade is really really really easy to kill (no offense), but your Sorc is more dangerous. I'm not sure about your statement, it's not just you but other people that make NB as alts as well, tend to build for more damage and no defense.

Well, I'm going to take that as a compliment ;)

I think my NB is very easy to kill because of my inexperience with the class and I originally built it for straight damage like you said. The more I play it, the better my survive-ability. I started incorporating more regen and more experience and find myself surviving a lot longer.

StamNB is a pretty archetypical class, if you want to build a strong and sustainable stamNB. I've been a NB for a long time (since forever actually), and I see many dime a dozen NB all playing the same way. Being unique with a NB has its challenges, and there aren't many good ones out there, trying new things.

In my eyes there are only two NB in the entire NA DC & AD population (not counting EP, since I cannot fight this faction) that rise above the rest of the crowd and truly play a skilled and dangerous NB. There are many "dangerous" Sorcerers out there, I don't see NB being the better choice.

Despite all the nerfs, magicka sorc is still the king of the battlefield. Stam NB is maybe a little better at escaping now, but nothing can match the might of a well-played sorc.

Id say the sorc is strong vs a certain amount of (adequate) players, but when they become too much for the shieldstack and shieldspam, the nb is stronger because he can kite/confuse better and get kills under their noses if using his tools correctly. In duels Id say the sorc has the upperhand(survivability) due to the fact that shieldspam is such a grossly strong mechanic in the game.

Except for a magica NB if you´re looking at vmsa. NB is just very relaxing to play compared to sorc.

My stam nb has 26k hp, +23% healing, -19% dmg from crits, -20% magic dmg -13% fire dmg and -5% dot dmg.
On top of that around 17k armor and spell resists and 20% dodge.

Basically it's possible to build a reasonably tanky nb. Though nowhere near as tanky as a dk of course.
