Another thread about ganking being shamefull or not in IC, got me to reflect on how my "moral standards" are in Cyrodiil.
I will explain the rules i play by, and hope others will share. I am very curious about how people play.?
As a base, i am primarily solo player. Do not engage in sieges, but spend most my time looking for small scale. Also play in duelling guild. So i might have more rules than most.
Encountering a Combat.
So if i bump into people fightinh, if my side is outnumbered i will jump right in. Or if it is more than 3 on each side, i will also just jump in. But i do not do so if it is a 1v1 or 1vX. i will go there and watch the fight. When the fight is over, i will attack the person (assuming the other faction person won). I will usually not give him time to regain resources. ONLY if the persons stands perfectly still. Many people actually do that as they realize i am watching. Any movement and i will attack though. I consider that fair chance.
Exception to this is if i battle is on high traffic path. If i know any number of ppl will show up any second, i just kill anything. No time for chivalry.
Knocking off Horse
This is my most used rule. If i encounter someone on Horse, not on high traffic road, i will light attack and let person dismount. If he flees on horse, i will knock him off, and then buff up and wait for him to come out of CC. As soon as he is up, i will attack.
If on high traffic road, it will depend on my mood and how things are going in general. If i know more are coming, i will kill you on your horse. But even on high traffic i might give the courtesy of not abusing the horse knock down CC.
Ganking
I do not enjoy fights where i have the opponent Outnumbered. But looking for small scale often turns into unorganised ganking, like on Alessia bridge for example. In these cases, i will not join the ganking, but simply let my fellow soldiers fight it out and watch for new incoming people that i can block off. That way gives me some nice 1v1 and 1vX.
So am i alone in this playstyle.? I know i am not, since i experience some on the battlefield. But it seems the majority of people would call my sense of chivalry for betrayal. That is often said by fellow soldiers whom i have watched die, only to then kill their killer after the fact. Those people seldom feel that i did not interrupt their delightful 1v1 rather they think "wtf why did you not help?!!"
For me, these rule are a mix of what i would like other people did to me, as well as what i enjoy. Not entering other people in 1v1 is both. I do not enjoy a fight where i am 2v1, as much as 1v1, and then i would like if my own fellow soldiers did not interrupt my 1v1 battles. I feel cheated of the kill.
