Campfire Stories: Toppling Charge Edition

Hi everyone, pls share your stories about how Toppling Charge failing to work got you killed.

Just a few minutes ago I headed off some AD going to take Chalman Farm. I was in the perfect spot, killed 1 of them, Toppling Charged another when... my skills bugged and I was unable to do anything at all, even jump, I could only run around as I was mobbed by 6 AD and killed. Fun stuff.

Funniest time I have had it happen in a 1 v 1 vs a Sorc.

Potted it off when it happened (this will fix it if you didn't know), only to have it happen again10 seconds later!

Pot was on CD now, so I am trying to LoS behind a tree and frantically trying to open the Crown store and preview a mount to get rid of it, while in combat! lol.

I lost the fight, but the Sorc was a good guy and messaged me after for the good fight. He was surprised when I told him I was disabled twice during the fight, guess other players can't always see the big spear animation. They must wonder why the hell you aren't doing anything though.

This was months ago, though. It was fixed nearly perfectly for me when IC came out, but it broke in a new way when Orsinium was released, in that it just won't fire at all.

It was a dark and stormy night, deep in yellow territory. I spotted one filthy elf, charged at him and...stuck! Greyed out skills! Panic, horror, sucks. I could not do anything. But, being a hardened veteran of countless glitches, I kept running around a tree for several minutes until skill bar unlocked. Aha! I charged at the guy again and...stuck! OMG!!! A couple of rounds around the tree later, when skill bar became usable again, I, with utmost cunning, did not charge, but instead just walked towards the guy and killed him kinda anticlimactically.

Great thread by the way. I am glad I had an opportunity to share this epic story of heroism.

Defending Arrius with three others from an onslaught of Covenant. A Dragon Knight was able to chain me off the wall and pull me toward the crowd of our keep's assailants. Dodging his initial attacks I turned to charge him and...

Nothing. Sounded like I was charging but nothing was happening. I couldn't close the gap between us even though the ground was as flat as could be. While his friends descended upon my predestined corpse I contemplated the irony of the situation.

I am new to this whole templar thing,
Being a VR14 i really dont have much experience in PVP, Alot in PVE,

I decided that i was soo close to VR15 i would run to Cyrodiil knowing i would get the XP required in no time.....
Wrap up the bruma quest, off to cheydinhal, DEEP in red territory,

On my horse off i go... Just out when i get sniped, YES sniped off my horse......
I CC break, healup and charge head first into this fight,

I hit him, he goes down, I puncturing sweep but nothing happens, ooo crap my firearm has jammed......

Find a rock, a tree for line of site, QUICKLY!!!!!

A rock is the only refuge i find so now i am running around a tree with a snipe made NB on me shooting heat seeking arrows at me,

For an eternity this goes on(all of a few seconds) and eventually my bar is good to go,
I turn around half in my heal to see the NB storming down on me,

I punturing sweep him, he realizes the tides have changed and tries to stealth, I am now shouting NO NO NO you little piece of S******...... You not getting away... Now with roles reversed i am chasing him and he is running around the rock.......

Eventually after the 4 or 5 time around the rock i kill him.........

That was my first experience with the Toppling Charge lock......

well i had this nice bug where you are running on top of your horse - think you know what i mean.
spotted an enemy when in range tried to charge him but geuss what i was stuck ontop of my horse in the animation, thx to still beeing on my horse using a potion was denied with the nice words " you cant do that while riding!"
the end is obvious i think...

To whome it may concern,

Its been some time since I played my magicka Templar(s) do to Toppling Charge and other bugs.

I do recall the last time I attempted VMA. Toppling charged bugged out once per stage for the first 4 stages, resulting in my death 4 times. Frustrated I logged out on the spot. I haven't come close to finishing VMA or the Orsinium quests as I simply can't take it. Recovering from brain surgery is less painful, and inconvenient then playing a magicka Templar. I have experience with both.

I played my Sorc for a bit which is not really fun for me. Its like a meat eater on a vegetarian diet. It was ok for 1 night but I want some meat ... and I am a glutton for punishment ...

I have another magicka Templar (better race) that I enjoy non-vet pvp on while leveling him. There was a group of DC attempting to take our resource and since I could res at the Chalmen (the local keep) I decide to go bulls deep into a group of 4 or so rather then waiting for allies to catch up. I pop one with Javelin, Eclipsed someone who had a staff, dropped shards and jumped in (CC immune) and proceeded to 'get there attention.' Taking a few hits (and immunity fading) I figured I'd try to make some distance so I decided I'd TC a fellow magicka Templar a few feet away who was attempting to drop a Dark Flare on me. Then ... I proceed to slap the crap out of my keyboard attempting to get SOMETHING to work.

So after resing at the near by keep, feeling a bit annoyed, I charged in again, this time with the aid of some allies. We managed to kill 1 or 3. Then moving to another target ... This time I had some support so I decided to back up a bit and try to let it wear off. Which it did and rejoined the now completed fight.

At this point, mind you, I had not read the tool tip that stated I need to take a pot when Toppling Charge procted Uselessness.

All was good till we moved to attack Bleakers. Knowing DC likes to gank in between I spotted a DC attempting to drop in to stealth. I charged off my horse striking the sneaker and ... he and his friend that was stealthed ganked me as I once again slapped the crap out of my keyboard for lack of any thing else to do. I res-ed and ran back to try to get another go at the gankers to find they were already over run by others of my Alliance.

So I continued on to Bleakers where DC where baiting people into fighting at the main gate with guard support. We where sieging from the south and taking fire from Fire Ballistas. I was dropping Ritual and watching those running siege. I stealthed up and waiting for something to react to. Naturally a stealthed enemy attempts to gank one of those operating siege and drop shard and Charge in and ... Then logged off played Smite for a few days.

That was about 2 weeks ago. I attempted to play my a templar once since then and had the bug happen again in PVP. I've logged in to feed my alts' horses and collect my hirelings mail but I can't bring myself to actually play my Templars. There's no joy there.

So today was the first day in about 2 weeks that I've put any time into playing the game. I started a Magicka NB which seems pretty fun, but its not my templar. Hopefully it can keep my attention till the next DLC hopefully brings fixes.

I hope you are finding ESO more enjoyable then I currently am. I wish you luck in winning the $1million dollars that is not going towards making ESO a more enjoyable and less buggy gaming experience. I hope this letter finds you in good health and in good spirits.
