Care bear here. I've enjoyed one character since beta, my beloved Templar healer. I jab my way through pve, but truly have come to enjoy IC PvP! I'm hooked, even though I usually run a lucrative tel var donation program. Question: since I love healing, should I be announcing that role in a zone "lfg"? Does anyone running in IC need a dedicated healer, or do the troops pretty much heal themselves? It seems I often fail to get loot unless I throw in DPS. Is it a confirmed mechanic that tagging a mob or player is required, not just healing a player that is directly combatting?

people constantly need healers in everything in eso, imperial city is the most wanted for healers.
when i run groups and i see "healer lfg"
i spam invite them cause thats a serious demand and basicly group survival is 70% dependant on the healers lol.
the rest goes to DPS.

Healers are always needed in pvp. Just bear in mind that even in pve they like to have the healer chuck in some dps whenever possible. I recommend if you really like running in IC, and think you might be liking pvp to try and join with a pvp guild who is active. You'll learn a lot more and faster by working with other people. Teamspeak doesn't hurt either (for pve or pvp).

Ventrilo isn't all that popular on TESO. I just go with the flow and use with the guilds are using.
