How do you heal yourself as a stam build??

I have been playing TESO since beta, but have always played as magicka builds, and getting a little bored of this, I decided to dig out my old vet7 stam DK. I practiced with him a little and found that the damage ws really good, almost as good as my Templar who is my main and is vet16, so took him to Cyrodiil, and thats when the fun started...

Firstly, due to battle levelling, his health was sky high, but for some odd reason his stamina was 6k lower than in PvE zones... He cannot escape or hide from big zergs, he cannot heal (a little but not enough) If they don't see me, I can do allot of damage until they then run at me with full health again and wipe me. I am used to being able to take 2-3 guys alone with no trouble at all on my vet16 magic characters, but with my poor little cat I feel so fragile. I realise, just like my Templar, there is probably no easy way to escape fights like with sorcerer and night blade, but without being able to heal as well... I am close to just giving up on him all over again, poor little guy  Any suggestions from other stam DK's that could help him to be more survivable? Because I would hate to put him back on the shelf again...

Welcome to being a stam DK. You got no escape, so be tanky and kill as many as you can before being completely outnumbered.
First of, battle leveling gimps your damage output quite a lot. The only thing you can do is either reach v16 or turn it off.
Second, healing on stam characters is actually quite strong nowadays. You got rally ticking from the 2h and you use vigor for more healing. Boost it with igneous shield and the burst heal from reactivating rally together with the ticking vigor is really really strong.

I also like to use devouring batswarm for "oh crap" moments and because it gives me 6s time to go full offensive against multiple targets.

Battle leveling does a lot more than what the tooltip advertises.

The other thing you should know about it is if you make a change of armor/passives/whatever, do it outside of Cyrodiil and then come back in or it will mess up.
Tenesi Faryon of Telvanni - Dunmer Sorceress who deliberately sought sacrifice into Cold Harbor to rescue her beloved.
Hisa Ni Caemaire - Altmer Sorceress, member of the Order Draconis and Adept of the House of Dibella.
Broken Branch Toothmaul - goblin (for my goblin characters, I use either orsimer or bosmer templates) Templar, member of the Order Draconis and persistently unskilled pickpocket
Mol gro Durga - Orsimer Socerer/Battlemage who died the first time when the Nibenay Valley chapterhouse of the Order Draconis was destroyed, then went back to Cold Harbor to rescue his second/partner who was still captive. He overestimated his resistance to the hopelessness of Oblivion, about to give up, and looked up to see the golden glow of atherius surrounding a beautiful young woman who extended her hand to him and said "I can help you". He carried Fianna Kingsley out of Cold Harbor on his shoulder. He carried Alvard Stower under one arm. He also irritated the Prophet who had intended the portal for only Mol and Lyris.
    ***
Order Draconis - well c'mon there has to be some explanation for all those dragon tattoos.
House of Dibella - If you have ever seen or read "Memoirs of a Geisha" that's just the beginning...
Nibenay Valley Chapterhouse - Where now stands only desolate ground and a dolmen there once was a thriving community supporting one of the major chapterhouses of the Order Draconis

So would you suggest then wearing some pieces of heavy armour to be more 'tanky'? Because I am in 7 medium right now... I have not got vigor yet on him, but am close to unlocking it, so will give that a go! I have rally already, but not igneous shield, so will try that out next time too! thanks

Personally, I like playing in heavy armor. More healing, more health, more tanky. But you lose quite some sustain and a bit damage. So there is a trade off and you have to find out what suits yourself best. I can't really tell you. But here a suggestion: 7/7 is not really useful most of the time. You are better of with 5/1/1. Well that is if you have the undaunted 9 passives ( 2% more stats per armor type).
For the heavy armor: A lot of people run Black Rose. I do as well. Quite the good set. Other good ones are Armor Master (craftable, you can use this one also very very well as medium and still be super tanky while having sustain! But it requires a bit practice!) and Hundings Rage (also craftable, good for medium and heavy. There are of course more sets, those are the ones I have in mind right now.
Igneous shield is an awesome skill for multiple reasons: it buffs your healing for 7 seconds by 30% (!), the small shield can safe you from a heavy criting ability (can also proc shieldbreaker, not so cool ), upon cast you get 5% stamina back and also minor brutality (a bit bugged, but more weapondamage is always good). So this is a must have skill for a DK.

This is really helpful Wollust, thank you  I currently wear 5 hunding and the rest, night mothers, but my cat is only a baby at the moment, so can't get any fancy sets just yet  I will definitely try Igneous shield tomorrow evening when I play him again! And perhaps rethink my 7 medium. Thanks again!

Vigor is brilliant, you will love it when ye get it.

Try putting CPs into the thingies that give you more healing received/healing from pots too.

GDB is nerfed to hell, so not really any point using that, normally on my vr16 stamina NB nowadays, not played my DK seriously for a long time, so helpful tips here.

    Good luck anyways OP

As a stamina DK in medium armor I make sure to have the medium armor ability (forgot the name off the top of my head) Igneous Shield, Green Dragon Blood and Rally placed somewhere on my bars.

Green Dragon Blood provides a nice boost to health and stam regen, plus a burst heal when you are low on health
Igneous Shield increases the healing ticks of Rally and provides a fabulous damage shield if you know you are about to be bursted.
Rally is generally awesome, if you let it go for 10 seconds and reactivate the ability you get a really nice burst heal, also adds a nice buff to your weapon damage.
Medium armor ability gives you 20 % dodge chance and immunity to all cc when its morphed.

Personally I do not like heavy armor, too slow, stamina regen is massively gimped and a loss of 12 % damage with melee weapons is not acceptable as a tam build in my book, and dodging is far too taxing to your stam pool with heavy armor. It is just downright hilarious how fast you can sprint as an orc in medium armor with all the right passives, you can outrun pretty much anyone if the °°°° hits the fan.

Which passives do you use to be 'fast'? Because I am SO painfully slow! I apologise for all of the questions, stam is so new to me, I have no clue  I have only ever used this guy in the past for tanking in heavy armour, but got bored levelling like that so just put him on a shelf for about a year :pensive: want to try to get my healing up to a level where I don't think to myself "Oh s***" when I see a couple of enemy players because I know they are going to kick me to dust in seconds. I would in other circumstances just not play this character anymore, but I really like him and want him to succeed so bad

Max out all the med armour passives, you will notice a huge difference in mobility, and will have more wpn dmg from the 12% wpn dmg from 5 medium armour pieces, as @wollust said earlier, 5 medium/1light/1heavy is the way to go, takes advantage of the undaunted passives also if you have them.

I love nipping about with medium armour hehe.

I pretty much take all the medium armor passives. They are all incredibly useful. And like I said, use the medium armor ability, morph it to add cc immunity and you can sprint away from those situations pretty easily since sprint costs less , you sprint faster, and you have higher stam regen.

As orc you also get a mass bonus to health regen , sprint speed, you get bonus to stamina pool, and a bonus to melee weapons. I usually run full 7 piece medium to take full advantage of the roll cost reduction. That is just me tho. For dps stam characters I generally always go medium armor.
