Stam sorc build viable?

You'll lose bound armor when you switch weapon bars. I don't like rapid strike in use as much as on paper. No one will sit there while you poke them. Surge works nice on the bow. Might want that instead of bound armor. I don't think it carries over when switching weapon types. I could be wrong though.

As you are levelling its easy to use anything you like, and thats the best advice... don't worry too much about an endgame build, skills change! Use and level as many skills as possible as you may need them later.

That said.... a couple of observations..

    1. Morph whirlwind to Steel Tornado, not the other morph. Tornado is way stronger.
    2. At end game you'll want to drop the clanfear. It's weak even on a full magicka sorc... and you're a stam build, so it hits like a wet noodle and will just die instantly due to a lack of shields.
    3. As mentioned, put bound armor on both bars, that way it doesnt vanish each time you bar swap

Have fun...... I just started levelling a stam Sorc too, after being a magicka one since Beta..... it's quite a giggle I Have to say! :)

Stam sorcs are fun for levelling (been maining one since EA), and the idea of a melee crit build utilizing surge healing is the coolest one in game imo, but be aware that the power will dwindle once you get into PvP. There's a reason that the best stam sorcs out there only use 2-3 sorc skills in their builds, where as a stam NB will have "trouble" even fitting weapon skills into their builds.

I salute you guys for choosing the Path of the Cool, but know that it is a harsh road you are about to travel.

That being said, in my experience, the best skills for stam sorcing are

    Crit Surge
Boundless Storm (NOT the stam morph)
    Streak (for control)
and if you want, you can use Armaments

The rest is pretty much useless. Even the pets, my advice is not to run them at all. You might get a giggle out the exploding one, but if you have to have a toggle you should make it armaments.

For a high crit build go 7/7 medium, but you might find more use of 5 med 2 hvy.

I'll just put the build I'm playing with these days up for you to see

    BUILD

Now, I put Armaments on this but I don't always slot it because I really like having Evil Hunter on my DW bar, and sometimes I take off Steel Tornado and sometimes I take off Armaments to fit it.
If I take off Armaments I put Caltrops on the off bar.

Stam specs are very pip viable endgame. I know as I play one very successfully. Your build and set up will be important and it's not an "easy" class to play. However very rewarding.

I suggest that you work on liking all your class lines and weapon skills as you lvl. As has been said above your build will change and change and change again before endgame. It's ok to use someone else's build for a starting point but it will need to be tailored to your style and how you play.

Also as said above you will not use many sorc skills at all. I use three but those three give you the one advantage that you have as a stam sorc. Speed and mobility.

Looking at your build specifically. Get rid of clanfear bound armaments goes on both bars. Rapid strikes is garbage for pvp. It usually works out like this for a stam sorc....we have no spamable damage class ability so unfortunately we usually get stuck with 2h for single target burst and then either dual wield or bow. I've tried a great many builds and skill combos and hi find that 2h always hangs around.

I'm always willing to help out a brother storm warrior!

    Good post. Storm Warriors unite.
Personally I'm so sick of the mandatory 2H that I'm deliberately gimping myself with the new dw/1h setup. :P

Agreed! A stamina class damage ability would be nice. Wb is boring as hell to be honest not to mention difficult to get off if your up against a decent player. I have 2 skills on my bar just so I can get wrecking blow off lol.

Since delta posted his build video stam sorcs have been popping up everywhere. I used to be able to count us on one hand lol. Gotta help those that find his build subpar. We are still few in number after all lol

Yes I tried his build. I hated it and didn't find it 1v1 1vX viable (at least not for my play style or without 600+ cp). Love deltia though good to learn how the mechanics of the game and skill/passive synergies work together and how to put them together yourself.

The thing I dislike about Deltias build (and Fengrush' for that matter is actually just all the 2H skills slotted. I know it sounds weird but the builds feel classless to me.

Nope doesn't sound weird at all. I've struggled with that feeling myself. Accepted that the class skills I'm using are what makes me a storm warrior and gives me my advantage. That said my build does not look much like theirs.

@Jitterburg for pire damage 1h and shield actually can be almost as effective as 2h and it is significantly easier to pull off against good players.
While 2h is perfect to pick off scrubs and unaware targets, you will have a hard time chaining your uppercuts against good players. With 1h and shield you have to worry more about sustain than with 2h and your CC is not your primary dmg ability at the same time, but you get a great slow, defile debuff, maim debuff and herosim buff to allow you to slowly widdle down your opponents HP. Just dont spam power bash please, we have enough bugxploiters as it is.
The biggest downside to 1h and shield i have found so far is that it can be hard to finsih low HP players, especially with healing ward, but with enough patience and good CC timing it can be done.

I would like to chime in about the Clannfear. It will do very little damage without high max magicka (@ZOS, can we please have pets scale off magicka or stamina?) but that's not what I use it for at all. Mine has a very nice amout of health and by using vigor as a heal I can keep its health up without the need for shields (if you use conjured ward you need to wait for the shield to drop before refreshing).

I've taken my Clannfear into many pvp and pve dungeons and can say that for myself it is far more enjoyable to use than toggling bound armor on and then ignoring the slot. On pc being able to control who the Clannfear attacks is fun, and he is an oddly good distraction from other players, and the number of times i've seen him tank a boss while we are rezing our healer or tank in a dungeon more than makes up for the loss of bound armaments to me.

But regardless you should have a Daedric Summoning skill slotted, that 20% health and stamina is not something to pass up, its just you only have toggles to choose from for a stam sorc.

@ahzek I disagree with 1h and shield being as effective for damage as a 2h, however, I agree on the rest hence why I run a 2h and s/b

@Chadwikid note the "almost". However bash cancelling really turns 1h and shield into a competetive PvP dmg specc.

This is exactly what made me finally dump the daedric slot. I decided to get my regen from gear and slot something for damage in stead. And damned if I'll be running loltronach ultimate for a 20% regen passive.

@Gern_Verkheart I'm not familiar with a PVE setup for stam sorc although I have never had an issue in PVE with my set up ( I'm also on console so I don't have any numbers to go by). I will say this looking at your set up...V16 gear will make a big difference along with legendary enchants. All my enchants are stamina. I would suggest that you drop the health enchants.

I'm in all legendary gear an enchants and I'm missing my agility rings and I'm sitting at about 33k stam 20k health and 3400 weapon dmg and 1200 recovery on my main dps bar. When I get my rings I should be somewhere around 35 k stam and pushing 3900 weapon dmg. All buffed with food which really is the only way it matters lol

@Gern_Verkheart If I would you try replacing your Agility Dagger with a Agility sword and Ashern Grip Sword get the bonus damage from having both will help a lot. Also I recommend trying to get at least one piece molag kena will raise your DPS a lot and you probably could find 2 Pieces of shadow walker for cheap which will also boost your weapon damage and you could also keep the Molag kena peice but will lose the ashen grip to fit the Hounding Rage. This will raise your DPS to almost 32 33k unbuff.

Well thanks for all the replies! never expected so many in the time I was at work.

anyway I dont use forums that much so im afraid I dont know how to directly reply to individual posts so im just gonna touch on the main points i noticed.

Clannfear - I know many of you were saying to ditch the Clannfear because it wont be doing much damage but iv learned to love it not for damage but as a PvE tank/healer. In my time questing it easily keeps agro on at least 1 enemy and the 35% heal when it dies/is unsummoned has saved me more times than i can count especially when i can summon + unsummon it at least twice reliably for 70% of my total hp with no points in magika.

2h vs DW - Now this is a subject I know nothing about, that being said im just gonna go over what I know/heard. Iv heard that 2h has some of the best dmg in the game and has good synergy with alot of classes but i have run DW for every Elders Scrolls game I have ever played. I have also chosen to run Flurry cause i have heard its good to deplete the Stam of anyone blocking in PvP and each hit can individually crit for the surge heal and Whirlwind for the AoE and dmg. DW is also cooler in my opinion too lol.

I have also seen a few post referencing legendary gear or sets and I really have zero experience with either so im not sure what works well with what skills at end game but i think I will deal with that in time. After all this build is also in no way final seeing as how I dont even have all the skills for this build yet I have yet to try them to see if there really to my liking.

So anyway those are really the 3 points i really wanted to tackle especially since its been pointed out Bound Armaments wont stay after I swap weapons. One last question as well but so far I have been using Boundless Storm as a gap closer with its boost of move speed despite its lesser duration and was wondering if Bolt Escape would be a better alternative so i can grab the increased duration? that is if Stam Sorcs really need a game closer since alot of builds I saw in this thread seemed to lack them.

@Gern_Verkheart.....yes all points are in stamina. Battle spirit is a 5000point boots in addition to close to 4000'from V15 purple food...19900 something or other health

Warrior mundus stone, 5 piece legendary hundings rage (4 small pieces divines), legendary 2h maul, expert Mage passive (2% increase to weapon and spell damage for each sorc ability slotted. Usually 4% for me), flawless dawn breaker (8% increased weapon dmg, necklace of agility w/legendary weapon dmg enchant, 1 epic ring with epic weapon dmg enchant (rings are temporary until I get agility rings. Third ring has no dmg enchant currently)...3500 (roughly) weapon damage...will bump to close to 3900 with agility set bonus and epic dmg enchants on both rings.

Boomer 3% increased stamina, all points in stamina, 3 pcs legendary gear with divines (big pieces), all legendary stamina enchants, bound armaments (8% stamina increase), 2 piece legendary nights silence (max stam. 800 something) 3800 something or other from V15 purple food....33k stam

Boomer (21% stam regen), 3 piece legendary nights silence (3pc stam recovery. I forget the number)...1180 something recovery.

Also sitting at 1800o something spell resist and 1900 something physical resist with bound armaments and thundering presence up. All medium armor.

There's some champion points in play here but not a ton 120 something.

@chronicbrother...I ALWAYS have a gap closer on my bar. ALWAYS. There is a slight delay at the completion on streak...no Bueno when entering battle. Boundless storm can be affected by snares (caltrops) also they see you coming. The whole idea of a gap closer is to minimize the time between when they see you (if they see you) and when you hit them. I don't feel that streak or lightning form (either morph) can be used as or categorized as a gap closer. Just my opinion. I am aware that people do do it and if it works for them then great!

Even with it still being vet 14 its still worth it.The two pieces still gave a good amount of weapons damage and that's all you need from it.Or you can make your two jewelry enchantments into weapon damage enchantments would give you a good boost.

Also you get Molag kena from doing dailies and opening up silver and Gold chest.RNG is just horrible so it make take a while. Also instead of ashern Grip I say use Night mother gaze it third piece gives weapon damage now.
