Let's talk PVP skill combo's. - the real pvp skill

I haven't pvp'd much, but from what I have seen on youtube, and on limited ingame war. Combo's seem to be the ultimate decider on pvp matches. I think this is really true on 1vX.

I wish I had been able to capture it but I ended up hitting the wrong key instead of the screenshot key. I was in IC on my stam sorc. I kept getting "one" shot by a NB. I am not complaining as it truly wasn't a one shot. He was animation cancelling skills so they practically hit within 1-2 seconds and poof my 24K health was gone. So in the spirit of this. I think we should let the cat out of the bag and talk about combo's.

For example magic sorc: Curse explode + pet explode + Crystal Frag Proc, then execute. I'm new to the game so I am sure there is more that can be done to do a mass dps burst.

Let me fix that for you...

magic sorc: Curse -> [attacked by stamblade: ambush (4k)->surprise attack(7k)->killers blade(6k)->surprise attack(7k)]->magic sorc releases RIP

you are correct - the animation canceling - favors nightblades because surprise attack does its damage at beginning of animation, which you can cancel and immediately get next attack off in .1 seconds. so 4 attacks in 2 seconds is normal for nightblades. you can easily macro it on your mouse/gamepad and press 1 button and kill most people now. nothing has changed since 1.6 for NB

He's telling BS. SA is easy to animation cancel, yes, but that doesn't make you attack faster than if you'd use another instant skill.

do you use a keyboard/mouse macro???

even still...you can get off light attacks in middle of WB too even without a macro

WB->cancel with light attack-> WB goes off-=> light attack - that's 4 attacks in like 2-3 seconds.

why? because their game engine is buggy and suxxor. it all depends on your ping I suppose

I don't want this to degrade into an animation cancel debate. What I'd like people to discuss is what combo's they actually use.

one of them:
precast blazing shield (and other selfbuffs) + prox det + unstable core (also triggers illuminate) + charge (la) entropy (buff and motg for proxdet) (bash - la) jesus beam

still, not really relevant imho. looking at your enemy and reacting to what he does and trying to get all big hitters in while unblocked is more relevant, i feel

in theory, you could also add purifying light but in practice i wouldn't do so because of damage shields, purge, and the fact that setting up a combo won't make you deal enough damage. maybe you could time it to come after the other explosions.

I like to jump into groups of enemies with my magicka nb.
Buff spelldamage, charge proxy, wait a bit, activate shades, run cloaked into the group, make boom and batswarm at the same time and then pick some of them up with impale. And then port out.

The MAJOR problem i have with these supposed combo's is that the person pulling off these wonderful combo's 100% of the time is probably using MACRO'S,

Which in my eyes takes absolutely NO skill,

Like the NB that nuked you soooooo quickly..

It is impossible to be hit by 4 - 5 skills in less than half a second and then have a heavy attack and wrecking blow in there,

Supposing your damage buffs are up...
LA = Light Attack / HA = Heavy Attack
A heavy attack isn't always fully charged.


Velocious curse -> HA -> C.Frags (proc) -> Execute

Wrecking Blow -> HA (during WB) -> Dragon Leap -> LA -> Executioner

Attacking from stealth:

Heavy attack -> C.Frags (proc)
Focused aim -> HA -> Ambush -> LA -> [Surprise Attack / Soul Harvest]

And for the wombo combo instagib:

Proxy det -> (bunch of spells for 4 seconds) -> LA -> velocious curse -> LA -> Meteor -> LA -> Streak -> LA -> C.Frag -> LA -> Mage's Wrath
