Re-building after skill reset

So I just logged on for the first time in a while and found my skills have all been reset. I had been playing as a 2-Hand Sorcerer and I have 27 Skill points. I'm considering changing up the build a bit and wanted some input.

Here's what I'm considering for my ability bars.

Sorc Bar
Shattering Prison, Crystal Blast, Summon Unstable Clannfear, Summon Twilight Matriarch, Hardened Ward; Summon Storm Atronach

2-Hand Bar
Brawler, Wrecking Blow, Rally; Flawless Dawnbreaker

The real question comes to the 2-Hand Bar part of the build. It's been suggested to use Critical Rush and Boundless Storm. I was wondering about using Velocious Curse and Bound Armaments instead?

Be aware that while the SPs have been reset, the ability progression has not. So if you choose to select different skills than you had before you'll need to advance the new ones through use.

    v16 Khajiit NB Tank
    40 Breton Templar Healer/Tank

It seems like for me, the Storm Attronach has been nerfed a bit, so I recently went with the Overcharged ultimate and have been finding it a bit more useful. It also needs less cooldown.

Yeah, I figured going with new abilities meant playing with them for a bit till they got up to similar levels, I just wasn't sure if one might be better than the other.

If you only have 27 skill points, it's actually in your best interest to stick with 2 or 3 very solid "bread & butter" abilities and slot other skills that need XP anyway.

Your goal by vr16 should be to have every skill and at least one of its morphs leveled up to IV of the morph. It's a LOT easier leveling *most* abilities naturally as you go than it is having to go back at vr16 in many cases.

That said, Velocious curse is a Magicka-based ability if I recall correctly. But your build looks like it has a mix of stamina & magicka. Have you chosen to focus on Stamina or Magicka based abilities yet?

If not, I cannot recommend strongly enough that you take a look and pick one. They're both strong and sorcs can definitely excel with either stam or mag. But spreading a character across both stamina and magicka is one of the first mistakes most players make with this game. Focusing on one or the other will provide you with MUCH greater success.

For example, if you like your Sorc bar, I would suggest you start focusing on all Magicka. Strap on a Destro staff in one hand and a Resto staff in the other. Then look to build something like:
Crystal Shards aiming for the Crystal Fragments morph
    Velocious Curse
Endless Fury (morph of Mage's Fury iirc)
2 Versatile slots: I use these for leveling less-used abilities like Clannfear / Destro or Resto staff abilit(ies)
[edit] to be fair, I actually put in Surge and Streak here ASAP because they're both so useful.

If you prefer charging around with a 2-hander and getting in their faces, your 2H bar is excellent... BUT... ***Read your morph tooltips in great detail*** specifically, look at whether a morph costs Magicka or Stamina to cast. A great example is your Boundless Storm question - I believe that one has a Stamina morph and a Magicka morph. If you're going 2-hander, pick the Stamina morph.

Sorcs are a blast to play but, just like any class, they can suffer greatly when your mind is not centered in one spec direction.

Thanks for the input. Still mulling this over.

What had been working for me before, at least, what had been fun to play, was having the Summon Clannfear & Summon Matriarch active, firing off Crystal Fragments, and zooming in with Critical Rush right behind the fragments.

I'm not interested in learning any of the staff skills with this character, want to keep it as a 2-Hand Sorc. That's the real focus.

Right now I've got it setup as:

Bar 1 - Crystal Blast, Encase, Lightning Form, Unstable Clannfear, Summon Winged Twilight III
Bar 2 - Critical Rush, Cleave III, Uppercut II, Unstable Clannfear, Summon Winged Twilight III

Figure this lets me keep my pets in the fight, I can throw Encase to slow them down while I throw a few Blasts, then hit lightning form, switch bars without losing the pets, do a Rush, and use Cleave and Uppercut as needed.

I'm not sure... I really enjoyed doing the Crystal Fragments and then zipping in with the Critical Rush as my main form of attack. Looked cool and felt a rush. Having the Clannfear and Twilight seemed cool as well. Not really sure where to go from that though.
