dragonknight fire mage

I want to switch from sword and board to long distance/caster status. Could anyone with experience give me an idea of what skills they would see necessary to make this build as effective as possible. I am trying to focus and dps and a little cc for my 1v1 battles. I am currently pulling from ardent flame and am looking at options in destro staff.

You definitely want to use Force Shock.

Pretty much your only decent option for range as a magicka dk

Ash Cloud is also ranged, although it doesn't go very far. Caltrops is similar in that it is a targeted AOE but it has better range. Both of those abilities are good for controlling the space between you and your enemies, so I would use those also.

Fossilize is also a great cc skill, use that, learn to medium weave.

this is my build and I do pretty well with it:

    gear:

5 piece "of the sun" there are all major/minor armor pieces and a neck piece

    Silks%20of%20the%20Sun%20Set%20-%20Sash%20of%20the%20Sun%28V12e%29.png

    2 piece worm cult

    worms_raiment-breeches%28v12%29.jpg

    3 pieces healer

    Healer%27s+Habit+Set+-+Ring+of+the+Healer%28V14e%29.png

    weapon 1

    dominions_inferno_staff.jpg

    weapon 2

    Healing%20Staff%20of%20Thorn%20%28V10%29%20-%20Indarys%20Ensemble%20Set.png

    here is my loadout/build sheet
    my build
The main thing to note here is this is 100% a ranged build. Melee will jack you up if you let them.

    How to play this build:

    1. always keep molten, wings and gdb, combat prayer and healing ward up on cooldown.
    2. your have 3 offensive abilities heavy attacks/crushing shock/dragon leap

    If at range:

buff: (combat prayer, Degeneration, molten, healing ward, engulfing) then heavy attacks cancelled with crushing shock until they are dead. Re-buff if you need to, but you won't need to really.

Volcanic rune is your best friend for melee enemies. Cast it on a group of people and watch them break around it, cast it on someone on siege, cast it on yourself and stand in the ring while reflecting ranged and any melee that runs up on you will be popped up.

I use dragon leap to close the gap, then drop engulfing flames cancelled with a dodge roll backwards.

Then hit them with degeneration and buff molten and combat prayer, this will give you (5% increase from gear, 10% increase from engulfing, 20% from degeneration, 8% from combat prayer) a massive amount of damage lol.

Barrier is your oh crap moment, its a huge heal as well as a shield, use it whenever you can. Conversely you can swap out for corrosive armor for even more damage, but I prefer barrier.

Tl;dr really weigh the fun you have in game vs the business practices you are supporting.

I'd love a Pyromaniac build, quite aggressive, in your face with a flame staff, sounds pretty fun.

Dragon's leap is just kick ass fun. I love jumping into a stack of 10 or more, try not to die, don't care if I do, to see them all flying in different directions is priceless. Just did this on top of the keep when we were getting overrun, knocked a few off the wall before we were swarmed over.

Need to figure out resto staff- seems cumbersome on the second bar, and trying to not handicap your DPS routine.

Have a look at this: http://tamrielfoundry.com/topic/2-0pvp-one-shot-wonder-dk-build/

I'm not sure how well the PVP build works, but I know the PVE variant works extremely well if played correctly. Also, I think a lot of these builds are going to be outdated once IC hits in a few days. I would wait it out before committing to anything.

why not use 4 healer and switch out worm cult for torugs on an armor and staffs? Seems like you're wasting a set bonus slot.
