I also recently hit veteran and it is MUCH different than non-vet pvp. Your stats are actually much lower than they were in non-vet because there is no battle leveling anymore (that will change in IC). I just got to vet 3 a few days ago and I am finally able to hold my own up to vet 9's and can help take down 10+ a little better. But yea, the majority of "getting" good is actually having really good gear and stats to match (which wont happen until 10+) so don't be discouraged =).

In veteran as a lowbie you basically just have to be hyper aware of stronger veterans and either be ready to block/dodge or pray you can cc them enough to either kill them or help your team kill them. I don't know how many times I have been singled out in a group of 10+ being attacked by 1 14 vet...but it is a lot lol. As soon as they see that low ass number under your name they will probably go for you. Use that to your advantage. Besides that, just keep leveling and eventually you will be strong as well!

p.s. I've been able to get so many kills recently because of mass hysteria lmao. I thought these veterans would be better at cc breaking but i guess not XD

Hi OP, at VR1 and low-mid VR levels vet PvP is tough going. I can't remember what my stats were, but I used blue Health & Magicka food for a while to help in those departments.

JMO, I would go for sets that boost your total magicka and use the Mage mundus. This will help increase the size of your Hardened Ward which you'll need to keep up pretty much 24/7 as well as help your damage. In the damage department I wouldn't worry about that too much as you'll be generally underpowered til higher VR levels (CPs will do a lot for you too). Run with groups if you can and learn basic survivability skills (block, dodge roll) as that'll really help in the long run.
Disabling the grass may improve performance.

Using those sets you will hit (and shield) like a soggy noodle, as you have no spell damage stat. Use sets with spell damage stat as set bonuses.

Invest a substantial number of attribute points into health (your hp is waaay too low). Keep up at least 2 shields (healing ward is pointless unless used as a "heal" at low HP - i would suggest sorc shield plus harness magicka if pre-shielding). Use 2 heavy armor, if you like.

Use food or drink appropriate to your level. Use potions. Be aware of positioning and range. Don't try and be rambo. Join a good group and stay in the group and at range.

Played right, even at V1 a sorcerer can be very very survivable, a pain in the ass to kill even.

A number of attacks in PvP can do 20K damage to you, so 14K health is not going to do you any favors. Purple food is something you need.

Also, try to avoid 1v1 or 1v2, and instead work in a larger group so your not singled out.

Enjoy the game, life is what you really want to be worried about.

Also use Radiant Magelight, it'll prevent you being one-shotted all the time. It makes a huge difference, and since you are a magicka build you'll have use for the 10% spell crit.

Some players just skirt the edges of the battle field in stealth, sniping people and then restealthing, sniping again etc. Radiant Magelight stops them from one-shotting you. It'll stop the damage as well as the stun of their stealth attack.

Get rid of your recovery sets and replace them with stat sets - at V1 you do not have the base values needed to go sustain (as apparent by your max magicka and max health stats). My level 42 magicka Templar has 14k health and 20k magicka outside of Cyrodiil just by using the right combination of sets (using blue magicka/stamina food and 10 points in health, btw).

I would suggest to only retain the jewellery of the Warlock set. Then use 4 pieces Magnus' Gift and 3 pieces Torug's Pact, giving you a magicka bonus and a health bonus in addition to two spell damage bonuses. Also, provided you use a healing staff, maybe even replace warlock rings with the "Grace of the Ancients"-rings (pact's / covenant's / dominion's loop and restoration staff) - that bar will have significantly higher max magicka, thus could be used as defensive bar with Hardened Ward and Dampen Magic, Combat Prayer, maybe Defensive Rune or Daedric Mines, and Streak / Ball of Lightning.

The advice to go for food is very good, you can buy it quite cheap in guild stores usually. I assume you do not yet have that many champion points, which means that you can't reduce the cost of dodge/break free (with tumbling). That means that you will have to have a bit of stamina for those actions - consider using purple food over blue, since it also increases stamina.

Your playstyle for the time being should be either running with a large group or by scavenging - stay at the outskirts of skirmishes and hit & run those that try to get away. Trust me, at V1 you won't stand a chance in a 1v1 unless you have several other veteran chars worth of experience in Cyrodiil.

Oh yeah, and don't ever believe people like this:

This is salty craptalk and has little to do with reality. CPs help you a lot but "no CPs" does not mean you can't have fun and win some in there.

For gear, I would swap to 5 PC Magnus Gift, 3 Torug's pact, and 3 Warlock Jewelry. This will give you more spell damage, health, and 8% chance to negate the spell cost.
