Formula reduce damage from armor

My question is, how much damage is reduced by (for example) 1000 armor. If anyone knows the formula, please share.

I've read that it's 650 armor = 1% physical damage reduction with a cap at 50%. If you get more armor than that, the additional armor will mitigate armor reducing debuffs.

Community confirmation please.

Correct. I believe it is around 633 armor = 1%, with 32,500 being 50%, which is the maximum mitigation. Anything more than that just helps if you get debuffed.

I can't tell you where the formula originates from, but for the most part this one is pretty accurate:

(Physical Resistance - 1000)/(Character Level * 10)
(Spell Resistance - 1000)/(Character Level * 10)
Character Level your level with any Vet Ranks added, so a Vet 10 would be Character Level 60.
The 1000 that is deducted from the Resistance in the formula is the innate penetration that everything has in the game,
You can change 1000 into 100, as I remember the formula being one of those 2 values.

EDIT: The formula does apply to Spell Resistance, so I added that as well, I didn't want to be misleading.
I still don't know if the formula applies to Elemental Resistance so that's why I only posted both Phys and Spell and didn't say flat out Resistance

Also keep in mind that armor only reduces stamina-based damage, not all damage. Spell resistance is for mitigating magicka-based attacks. And then there is additional resistance for different damage types (regardless of origin), such as fire, poison, etc. So if you are hit by a stamina-based attack that does fire damage, it will be mitigated by armor and fire resistance. If you are hit by a magicka-based attack that does fire damage, it will be mitigated by spell resistance and fire resistance. To make things more confusing, "physical resistance" seems to simply be another name for armor and mitigates all stamina-based attacks. It does not seem to be extra protection against "physical damage" that gets applied after armor.

Poisen counts as physical dmg. But u got a different resist for that ^^
