Don't rush the flag to turn it...Instead, get about 5 people with stone siege to drop the tower on top of them. If there is no more tower, they can no longer tower farm AP. The main problem is everyone wants to rush the flag and turn it first. This makes it so you cannot siege the tower down and thus you have done exactly what they want. If this is the case, the next best option is to keep people from feeding the AP farm by rushing in. If no one goes in, they will eventually come out due to boredom and you can then kill them!

which can even lead to a faction losing as thornblade EU PC has shown. since a large portion of prime time AD are AP farmers.

Huh ?
AD are the worst faction on EU PC at tower farming. The last couple days some people have been farming at Ash resources, but that's new. Before AD rarely tower farmed at all.
EP and DC do that every day all day though. Hi Pamela, Warbow, Atzel, etc.
They do contribute some.
By holding 30-40+ enemies busy around a choke or tower with smaller numbers, they give their own faction more space to take and defend keeps. This also helps with spreading out fights and therefore less lag.
If there were more rewarding and meaningful objectives for smaller raids and groups, you definitely see less tower camping. But right now, let's say you have a 6-12 man group, what the hell are you going to do in Cyrodiil? Join the lag?
Try take a defended keep and you get run down by the Steel Tornado blob lagging so hard nothing works, the keep eventually goes un-contested because you cant even place siege and 50+ more teleports in. Go take an undefended keep and you might as well carve your own eyes out, because PvDoor is that boring after over a year of the same thing. Keep or scroll will be nightflipped back anyway, so you just tortured yourself for no good reason.
Point of PvP for many is having fun and good fights with reasonable numbers, away from the zergs. Easiest way to get that is poking a keep and retreating to resource, choke or nearby building.
