Ultimate Magicka Templar PvP build - "Nukes & Barriers"

It has taken me months to finally perfect the said impossible feat of creating an OP Magicka Templar build without yes, WITHOUT Jesus beam. Why did I want to build this without Radiant Oppression? Read the upcoming 1.7 patch info because you are behind. I wanted to prove that Magicka templars can solo, 1vX , and play in a group without a single Restoring light spell or restoration staff. So without further ado, I give you:

Nukes & Barriers - Magicka Templar PvP Build

Attributes:

All points into Magicka. I have tried with 16 in Health and it worked out fine. But this is a nuking build so more Magicka is the best bet here.

Champion Points:

Mage - Stack Thaumaturge, Staff and Elemental Expert, with the remainder in Spell Erosion.

Thief - As with all Magicka DPS builds, Stack Magician and Arcanist and the remainder into Tenacity or Healthy.

Warrior - Stack Shields and Light Armor and then whatever else you see fit in this line.

Weapons:

Destruction Staff Bar 1
- Toppling Charge
- Puncturing Sweep
- Structured Entropy
- Dampen Magic
- Blazing Shield
- ULT: Devouring Swarm

Destruction Staff Bar 2
- Dark Flare
- Vampires Bane
- Structured Entropy
- Weakness to Elements
- Mist Form
- ULT: Meteor or Solar Disturbance

Rotation:

Weakness To Elements > Dark Flare > Vampires Bane > Entropy > Toppling Charge > by this time one or two Puncturing Sweeps should finish them off.

Always keep Dampen Magic and Blazing up at all times and Mist Form to escape / dance around obsticles. Mix this with the fact that you opened with a devastating nuke that should have them running away, have two very good Shields and healing capability with Devouring swarm and Puncturing Sweeps, you will run the battlefield.

Gear:

6 Light, 1 Heavy

I am running this with 6 light for the increased Shield strength with Dampen Magic. I am stacked with Magicka Regen + Spell Damage and + health enchants for a stronger Blazing Shield. I honestly did not expect this to work out as well as it did. I am surprised very happy with how this setup turned out.

Misc:

- Vampirism is a must for this build since we have no strong templar heals on our bar.

- Weakness to Elements can be swapped for Purifying Light, Total Dark, Radiant if you see fit or even Breath of Life for a little piece of mind. I have tested each and they all work well. WTE was the best choice and had the highest results.

- This build is viable in group, solo and 1vX play. I have not yet been killed in a 1v1 to 1v4 situation. The build works quite well for PvE as well if you can find a group that doesn't kick you because they thought they invited a healer.

- If you try this build and like it please be sure to let me know in the comments to feed my ever growing ego!

I am making a much better and more in depth build video as you read this with a lot of gameplay to show off the build! Thanks guys!

Idk it may work in console but I don't think you will have a chance to do 1vX with this in PC. It's just a zerker build seems to me.

What you gonna do when 2 stamina builds focus on you? You have like 5k shield vs them and no heal, no armor. Mist form may let you kite a bit but then tab targeting and crit rushes will ruin your day. Waiting Devouring Swarm for heals or tiny heal from puncturing sweeps is really unreliable. Drop 2nd Structured Entropy and get Healing Ward or Breath of Life at least.

The build has a lot of problems. As someone has already pointed out, a stam user will tear through you like paper, and there are a ton of stam builds running around Cyrodiil now. Secondly, nirn stacking is a huge problem right now and you'll hit like a wet noodle against anyone using it. This will be less of a hindrance in 1.7, but it will still be present.

You have no real heals on your bar, and you're a templar, and a vampire (o.O). Puncturing Sweep is not reliable enough as your only heal since it's quite easy to side step, roll through, or step back from the attacks - making it the rarity to land all 4 hits.

I would highly recommend putting BoL on your second bar.

If you're going to run with this gear setup, I'd emphatically suggest using Cyrodiil's Light 5 piece set and making sure you're constantly spamming Puncturing Sweep, Jesus Beam, and/or Dark Flare for the flat 25% dmg mitigation - this is the only chance you have against most stam users.

I'd also suggest ditching Blazing Shield - it doesn't hit hard at all now, and the shield itself is paltry. Radiant Ward would at least be cheaper, and the bubble from resto staff will be a slightly bigger shield.

It also doesn't make much sense to have Entropy on both bars...

Mist form is the only thing I can safely agree with here as it's a Templar's best escape and survivability tool when focused.

EDIT: since you're looking for a ganking build, one of the most successful magicka burst builds I've run into opened with Dark Flare --> Javelin --> Jesus Beam. You'll want to use Inner Light and pop it from stealth to empower your first Dark Flare, and be close enough in range so that you can immediately follow with Javelin. Given the travel time of Dark Flare, Javelin will hit just as the Dark Flare does, and will stun the opponent. This usually puts them into a range where Jesus Beam can finish them off if you're running full glass cannon. The entire damage burst happens in ~ 1 second if timed correctly. If you're looking to be up in their face with Puncturing Sweep, like I said above, you will certainly need Cyrodiil's Light so you aren't free AP.

Go DW for bar #1 since it seems like a melee bar, you have no destro abilities on it, and enjoy a lot more spell damage. Alterative, use 1h/s and invasion for the long stun.

I do play on Xbox1 which may be why this build works so well. So far a heal on my bar or resto staff has not been required but of course the skill across platforms is not yet on par with each other. This may be why stam builds have not been an issue yet.

I will accept all advice to help this build as I have been enjoying it alot.

You could run something like this maybe , Chest, Legs Belt , Neck Storm knight, , light Hat, light gloves, light boots, heavy shoulders Magnus, 2 rings cryodill light.

so 4 heavy 3 light, or 5 heavy 2 light both work ok. S+B blessing pot on one bar Dual wield swords torug pact precise + sharpened,

that gives you 4 spell power buffs + magik regen and stam regen with S+B and 5 spell power boost with DW + the extra 300 or so SP from using DW with that set up i`m at 2500 ish spell power without using entropy Use V10 Blue stam/mag regen drink

Stats 50 Magik , 12 Health Mundus tower for Stam bonus enchant gear with Magik, chest health Maybe 1 stam if it looks to low.

As far as skills , you could go with Bar 1 invasion, puncturing sweep, radiant ward, def posture, lumious shard for the stam?magik and doesnt give CC immune, ult. Dawnbreaker of smiting.

Bar 2 Dark flare , radiant oppression, 3rd slot is flex unmovable brute or rune focus, repentance or promix denotation, esclipse , etc . then purifying ritual, breath of life, ult Barrier or soul assault or ice comet depends what you are doing ie zerging small scale etc.

This sounds promising. Now with the nerfs to sword and board and Radiant Oppression next patch, this seems like the key build that will be hit hard right? But I also take it this build was not meant for any type of blocking right?

not perma blocking no atm with that set up Im around 23k magik 26k hp and 13k stam I picked up werewolf for passive stam regen my main PC is down for the next week so cant check stats but if i remember I had around 2k magik regen and 1400 stam regen with S+B and drink.

and correct you can do a lot of blocking just can`t perma block which is ok will have to see after patch how the new changes are

I actually run boots storm knight for the extra armor and run light belt magnus Ive tried it as 5 heavy 2 light but perfer it as 4 heavy 3 light myself

Instead of darkflare you could use solar barrage to buff radiant OP faster

I just tried this build. Been using it since you first posted and I must say its a blast so far. Sorcerers are stupid easy to combat with this build. Although a good stamina player is still giving me a decent run for my money.

Although I am in the process of researching the Torug Pact swords which will be a big help.

Since you are a vamp I would use elusive mist on bar 2 3rd flex slot and bats as bar 2 ulti.
