Landing Biting Jabs

Just switched to Stamina Templar and I love the damage Biting Jabs can do, woooohoo! The biggest thing is actually hitting someone with all 4 Jabs, this is the hard part. People will usually side step or dodge roll.

My set up: DW/2H

I toppling charge into biting jabs, just like Mojican does. But many times they CC break and dodge roll out before I can Jabs them.

I KNOW THIS IS A L2P ISSUE.

I am asking how I can set up Biting Jabs to be more effective.

it is an 8 meter cone. Charge onto someone. Step back a bit so they are about 4-5 meters out. Follow them along with the cone. It gets easier with practice. But this is how I land about 3/4 jabs almost always. Sometimes the full 4/4.

The spear of the animation in the beginning should not hit the enemy. JUST. So really at the end of the spear. That is the sweet spot and keep them there. Biggest mistakes is to stand RIGHT ontop of your target. He can get out of the cone easily.

Thanks for the input, appreciate it!.

How do you deal with a dodge roller then? Especially from that distance, they dodge roll once and I would need to charge them again.

Well depends... A charge +4 hits of biting jabs does 8K unmitigated dmg (without crit hits or burning light procs).

If theyy dodge roll away you can follow em with another jabs. Works for 1 dodge roll if you're lucky/good. I have about 16k spell penetration so... If their health is low enough: jesusbeam or soul assault. Forces them to stop dodge roll or die. Even if they stop they still usually die. But this is very situational... Still, jesusbeam or soul assault are good ways to *** off a dodge roller.

EDIT: im a magicka build. My soul assault goes for 32k. My jesusbeam base dmg is 13k.

Crit charge after them? Dunno if it is dodgeable. Im pretty sure steel tornado can't be dodged. Charge/ steel tornado? Or soul assault. Scales of highest stats i think

Both Critical Charge and Steel Tornado are dodgeable.

I can attest to that :( That is why I like using Toppling Charge (like Mojican) even though it is magicka.

The skill is bugged / not working as intended (as zos would say, working as intended) if you and the enemy in front of u are running. I am very often unable to hit people who are running away while they are literally 3-5 meters in front of me. Thats why im magicka and spam jesus beam in these 1v1 occasions. Mojican has experienced that too <3

I should run Radiant even though I'm a stamina Templar?

    no.
slotting RD as a stam templaris not really worth it. you'll have comparatively low damage, low penetration and can sustain few casts due to the cost.
more importantly though, you give up a lot of your strength: while channeling the beam, you're not mobile yourself. if RD was your answer to dodgers, you might as well play magicka in the first place. sweeps is not too far behind jabs, enough stam regen and points into tumbling allow many dodgers as well.

as a stam templar you rather have to time your attacks (or even switch target).
you can hit someone who just dodges permanently without any further timing.
you can dodge as well to get away.
you can use ranged attacks (throw spear, magnum shot, bombard, etc) to stun/slow them.
you can let them dodge and hopefully run out of stamna. you'd have to avoid some very high regen builds then (which get nerfed for a reason)

@Kas So when you 1v1 a rolly-polly Nightblade, what is your thought process? Many times they just dodge away after the first jab and before the others hit lol.

i only played stamina on my twink and onyl to get caltrops so i'm not sure if my thought process is correct / very good.
basically i'll quickly figurte out if the NB is amgicka or stamina. magicka will hit me hard with concealed weapon but cannot dodge too long. A detection pot and high pressure is important.
Stamina will dodge for ages but I can do that as well. Thus, I'll play defensively: always have enough resoruces to deal with a fear, use rally ticks and purifying ritual to stay full. ralls recast is for emergencies only.) and I'll try to bait useless moves: useless dark cloak, usless vigor/rally recast, useless doged roles. Some Nightblades may run out of resoruces eventually.
When solo I used bow/2h and tried to mix bow light attacks and poison injects / throwing javeling / crit charge. They require slightly different dodge timings. In particular dodging early enough fopr the ranged stuff will often lead to a hit with crit charge.

But at the end of the day, I never really duelled with stamina and I made much better points charging and burting unaware targets in the backlines of enemy zergs. once I was done with my caltrops, I went back to my magicka templar main to play and heal in groups. If I wanted to play stamina, I'd do it as a nightblade.

I much prefered 1h/s on my stamplar, main so I could use invasion rather than toppling charge. I felt invasion kept people stunned just a smidge longer, long enough for jabs to hit better. Even with CC breaking it.

but again, it makes oyu a lesser NB. one great thing about 1h/s on stamina builds is that bash deals really nice damage. sadly, bash cancelling is much better for instant-cast skill unlike jabs :(

It helps a lot to snare your enemy before firing off Biting Jabs. With 2H you can use Stampede, with Sword & Shield you can use Low Slash, and if you use DW you can use Rending Slashes. This forces them to dodge or block, and both of those options will destroy their stamina in the next patch.

DW is probably better off using Flying Blade to snare.. it hits like a truck and has a huge range.. esp. since Rending Slashes gets most of it's damage from a DoT, which NBs will just shake off by stealthing.

And it will be getting a buff in the IC release according to the ESO Live twitch cast (will get the 20% damage increase buff that 2H has with momentum/rally)

Thanks for the info. Is the snare from Stampede better than the extra damage of Crit Charge?

68% extra damage on an attack (assuming max range) is huge, and even better if you're using executioner. If you can get a snare from another ability, you probably should.

Explosive Charge much better vs roll-dodgers than any other closer gap, as its AOE damage can hit through roll, also it makes combo escape roll-doge+cloak from stamina NB or just cloak spam from magicka NB useless as again AOE dispel cloak and as magicka templar you can spam it. Only 2 problems here: 1.templar's charge has GCD but it promised to be fixed in next update. 2. Due to server lag there is a huge delay in dispelling cloak with AOE.
