Low Ping in PvP

rowanwatkins3
Hi! I play ESOTU in a land very far from any of the servers called South Africa and my fastest speed I can ever get is about 240 ms, which I am used to and it still fast however while in PvP in larger battles with many players my ping just shoots through the roof from about 240 to 999 and above and I can't do much to stop this : (. I would be extremely grateful if anyone could give me some tips! ( I have a 10mb/s line which is the fastest I can get in my area and my computer can handle ESO's graphics with ease so it's not that.)

I find 200 to 250 is just about playable from New Zealand.

At about 250+ it starts to screw with weapon swap and stuff.

    999 is all Zo$.
There is nothing you can do to your connection to undo the terrible code and design choices.

280-300 on the daily club checking in.

Some nights you just can't get under 300 (at least during netflix time).

Server side lag spikes are common.

    I'm playing from Australia.

It does make you change your build to be a bit tankier as active defense and damage avoidance are much harder with 250-300ms latency. Weapon swap is unreliable which also makes some skills required on both bars sadly reducing build diversity and effectiveness.

Always satisfying to beat someone on a low ping in a duel though.

^This here is spot on. Before 1.6 I used to run a very simplistic sap build rotation with perma block. Got some criticism for it but the reason behind it was because of my latency. With my current stamina builds I'm forced to run vital abilities such as dark cloak on both bars as weapon swap isn't as responsive.

With the low time to kill at the moment you need to play a build with decent survivability or a skilled sorc can nuke you before you get a chance to react. I generally stick to group pvp, ganking and playing the AVA objective rather than looking for 1v1 fights or duels and I theorycraft my builds accordingly.
