Dark Anchors are far too loud at long distances

I like bass, but when an anchor drops half a map away from me the ensuing 5+ minutes of sustained, headache-inducing rumbling completely drowns out all other audio. Home theater is my passion/hobby and I admire ESO's sound design, but scrambling for the mute button every time somebody triggers an anchor is tiresome. Not to mention, those of us who listen at high volume run the risk of such sustained low frequency either sending your sub amps into protect mode, or worse, drying the caps, clipping, and sending a nice square wave to destroy your subwoofer(s).

I have also noticed this, hard not to when your sub is shaking the room yet the Dark Anchor is barely visible in the distance.

Personally I think it sounds awesome even when you are not at the anchor. :p

Makes me think of all the anchors I ran to because I heard the sound off in the distance. I think it is fine.

Get a better sub that is clean sounding or turn it down. I'd wish you'd get individual control over such in the menu though... oh wishful thinking :p I do agree it is super loud, but I appreciate it as it chimes through combat when you are far away... makes you not miss them if you haven't already got them.

Of course its going to be loud through a sound system. Perhaps adjust your sound system settings rather than expect ZO to compensate for the volume settings on a device outside their control ?
Everyone knows the phenomenon of trying to hold your breath underwater - how at first it's alright and you can handle it, and then as it gets closer and closer to the time when you must breathe, how urgent the need becomes, the lust and the hunger to breathe. And then the panic sets in when you begin to think that you won't be able to breathe - and finally, when you take in air and the anxiety subsides...that's what it's like to be a vampire and need blood.

This is a troll post, right?
You did not seriously create a thread to complain about this, considering there are so many bigger issues that need to be addressed? I'll give you points for originality though. This is the first post I've ever seen complaining about this going back to game release.

Its because I have a good sub/expensive/built up over the years/finely tuned/system that can reproduce these frequencies that I'm noticing them, if your not noticing them then maybe you should practise what you preach.

Many sound effects in this game are incorrectly levelled to a noticable extent which is indicative of inadequate testing on a wide range of systems by the games sound engineers.

Unfortunately though, this isn't limited to gaming audio and many recordings in the audio industry are poorly mastered, I can however remaster many of those my self, unfortunatley I can't do that with the ESO game audio, unless they would like to pay me a hefty wad for doing so :)

So with the vast majority playing ESO without a professional sound system do you think ZO would bother with spending the resources to rework the low frequency intensities ?

Nonsense. Your setup is poorly calibrated.
Do you think you're the only audio buff with an expensive system?

Nonsense yourself, setup is perfectly calibrated for everything else but has to be altered for ESO.

So you term yourself as an audio buff do you ? Good luck with that, this is a place to report bugs, not argue about them or to try to look clever.

Stupid. They are loud to signal where they are and when they drop. Play with your sound settings and turn down effects volume. I never have a problem with any of the sound. Ever.

I bet anything you did would be way worse then what the teams did who built. Get off your high horse and complain about an actual issue other then you being too lazy to adjust your sound settings. 100% character speech volume, 80% chat volume, 0% music volume, 60-70% effects volume. That setup always works for me for any game.

If dark anchors were too loud from too far away then you would be able to hear more then one at a time. That would be an issue. That sound is how I found ALL of my anchors.
