Framerate broke on me. Linked to character.

keniptionb14_ESO
I'm not sure what has happened but on my VR8 character my framerate has gone to hell. For example when walking toward torches it looks as if my frames have gone down sub 20. It only started yesterday. The first thing I thought to do was a new install. As I thought my game broke. This did nothing. I'm lucky enough to have two ps4's in my house so I tried my character on my other ps4. Still my framerate goes drops all over the place.

Now I'm thinking to myself...Well maybe this has been the case the whole time and my eyes just started picking up on it. Nope...My wifes and my tvs are right next to eachother. As we're rolling through a dungeon together I can see my framerate dipping as hers is running smooth.

TL;DR

Framerate broke
tried new install
tried different ps4
only linked to my vr8 character
looks to do with lighting

This is killing my experience with the game.

So far it seems fire may be the cause of this now. When I light people ablaze my frames are wrecked. Also as I said above torches trigger lower framerate. However if this isn't it it still has something to do with lighting... My issue started yesterday.

I am still burdened by this issue. I have not received any reply from support...

    Hey there folks,

Can you please send a screenshot of the Active Effects section of the affected character? Since the issue is character-specific, we'd like to take a look and see if there is a consistent effect that is causing the issue.

If you could also let us know the zone that your character is in, your alliance, and any particular specific places that the issue occurs, it would be a big help.

Thanks so much for your patience.

    I'm currently in Deshaan.
    Daggerfall Covenant
This issue happens in any and all zones. It happens what seems to be when looking toward specific light effects. Most noticeable in delves but it does happen when running around any zone now. I've tried capturing the problem on video but it's too inconsistent. This issue has also lead to me crashing and has gotten me killed plenty of times. It didn't start till I was about VR7-8.

It could have been trigger from one day around the time I first reported this. I was wrecked in Cyrodiil and my lighting went to hell. My character and it's armor looked as if it was covered in blood. However it was apparent the lighting was just messing up.

As I've noted also that this happens when playing on our other ps4. This doesn't happen on my wifes character and when we run stuff together you can see the difference on each screen.

    Thanks for that @keniptionb14_ESO,

From looking at the video, it seems the performance issues are only occurring when you face a certain direction, which could be an issue in and of itself. Does this issue occur in spaces aside from this dungeon?

Thanks for your patience and for the video, its a big help.

Yes it does. It wouldn't be so bad if it was just confined to this location. However it's happening everywhere. I've been trying to put my finger on what it is and all I can come up with is lighting. This happens out in open spaces in every zone. Even Cyrodiil. I'll try to capture other locations but it's not always consistent and when it does happen the problem can just go away in said spot.

Sometimes when an enemy catches fire and turns to ash my frames can take a hit. So atm torches and other fire related effects may be key.

Here's another video showing the light source on the left impacting my framerate.

    So my issue seems like it's actually getting worse. This really sucks...It's for sure light sources (fire and lamps). This is really killing the game for me and I just resubbed. ;_;

    Suggestion.

Go inside the Harborage (or another solo instance with NO activity)
    Unequip all gear.
    Go into first person view.
    Face wall.

All the above to minimise data flow between server and your console.

    Log out.
    Reboot console.

Delete Save data file NOT the game file

    Reboot console.

Make sure your PS4 graphics settings are correct for your TV monitor, perhaps reset to default.

    Restart TESO.

Log in and see if fixed.
Everyone knows the phenomenon of trying to hold your breath underwater - how at first it's alright and you can handle it, and then as it gets closer and closer to the time when you must breathe, how urgent the need becomes, the lust and the hunger to breathe. And then the panic sets in when you begin to think that you won't be able to breathe - and finally, when you take in air and the anxiety subsides...that's what it's like to be a vampire and need blood.

The issue persist even when using a different ps4 though. So deleting data off of my ps4 wont do much. I have tried troubleshooting the issue with the gear idea however. No luck. I tried the UI thing also. Thinking my game may have gotten hung up on some code. No go. I've even tried wearing the skeleton costume just to really change my character up. Sadly nothing.

ouch .. good luck in resolving. Wonder if it might fix with the next patch with a fortuitous repair of the glitched coding.
