Add additional PvP modes to ESO

lottasay_ESO
The concept of Cyrodil is fine and appealing, but the fact is that Cyrodil is nothing more than a zerg fest. There's no honor or skill cap involved in it.

Cyrodil is fine for casual for PvP when you're bored, or when you want to use a Trebuchet to destroy a castle. But like i mentioned before, there's limited skill involved in this PvP mode.

That being said, we need more PvP modes and here are some ideas and proven-to-work formulas:

1) 1v1 Dueling
2) Arena mode
3) Instanced Battlegrounds

1) Dueling is great, because even though classes are NOT "balanced" in 1v1 scenarios, it enables players to learn how to adapt and fight other classes in a 1v1 scenario. Basically every other MMO has this feature incorporated, and for a reason. It's fun and has a formula that PvP players enjoy. (If you don't like the idea of Dueling, then don't do it)

2) Arena mode, probably the most sought out PvP mode and for a good reason. Arena mode(s) allow players to form teams and to strategize to win against the opponent team(s). It also adds value to the game. This mode will only work if players are given a "rating" to compete against other players.

3) Instanced Battlegrounds, (again) not everyone thinks its fun or "that it takes skill" to zerg or kill (an)other player(s). Instanced Battlegrounds composed of smaller teams encourages small-scale teamwork and coordinates. Furthermore, it ensures that only a certain amount of players partake in a given fight. I.E.: 10vs10.

Wow so they have the core functionality complete but for whatever reason, they have not implemented it into the game.

I'm getting closer and closer to unsubbing every time i hear this.

These features should have came with the launch.

The other day I was attempting to convince friends I know to play this game, but you know what they ask?
Can you BG? Can you duel? Can you push rating?

I'm tempted to lie to persuade them to come and play, but the fact is, that veteran MMORPG players have a standard set by other MMORPGs that they expect to find in ESO.

I don't know what ZeniMax developers priorities are, but it doesn't seem that PvP is.

If you dont want to zerg then dont follow the zerg....The group vs group and the 1v1 fights are everywhere you just have to actually go to them and not expect the game to hold your hand and make a match for you.

If you want 1v1 use your map and see where the hot spot or keep siege is, then find the enemy port. Now wait between those 2 points. You can ambush and have 1v1 or small skirmishes all day long. the Zone Bridges and gates are also places for this. You can also go to any towns and find skirmish fights or even gank enemies questing in their alliance side.

If you want group vs group join a roaming group, they roam in areas known for gvg fights as well as on teh edge of supply lines amd picking off rienforcments.

So like i said if you dont want to zerg dont go where teh zerg is, it is easy to avoid

1- this game was designed for large scale open pvp. Always have been advertised this way.
2-adding bg or arena would required zos to balance classes for those two new mode as well as large group pvp and pve.
3-in every mmo who inserted bgs, that made large scale pvp die (even small scale pvp too). People run those, get bored in a month, the cry for yet another bg and so on...
4-large scale pvp offer countless of options if you know bow it works (which likely you dont since you think its about skill less zerging, so I wont expand here since chances you understand are slim).
5-if you want pvp on balanced teams n stuff, go play a moba. Its a war we fight here. Not a god damn capture the flag mini game. Maybe you should realize that eso is not for you.
6-as of zerging, considering its a war we fight, then that means having a large party is just normal. I dont think a 5 man grp would have taken down the germans during ww2...

1v1 fights are everywhere, thats what i do all day long on my NB but you cant expect to find them if you run with the zerg. There are roaming group fights, some people run 4, some people run 8 man group fights. Just join a guild that does this or find people that do it on you campaign or make a group an do it.

There is the alliance rank, it is competative. It is also very competetaive to stay on the same campaign and get to know your enemies and enemy groups, this is called rivalries.

This is how MMos did PVP before games like wow with arenas and in my opinion being on a battle field with the unknown is far more exciting than doing an Arena match that has no purpose or impact on anything and just resets....

The largest group I've ever ran with in my 7 months of playing the game is 13. I have never partyed with a zerg. I'm in a dueling guild and when the travel to player mechanic comes to a end dueling the way we have too is gonna be alot harder and wow didn't invent arenas lol. Ultima online has been around since 1997ish and it has an very simple arena system hell I'd be happy with just the option to fight my own faction in a consensual way and alliance rank competitive seriously? It's just a massive grind nothing about alliance rank represents skill just time played

Oh goodie yet another thread about adding a arena or dueling system. This is what ? the 70th ... 100th one?

http://forums.elderscrollsonline.com/en/discussion/165653/request-for-a-arena/p1 The idea has been made long ago and the up coming imperial city arena would be perfect for the idea but @ZOS_BrianWheeler keeps saying no cause the imperial city has "small scaled" pvp to "scratch the itch". Transaltion small scaled zergs vs zergs and would in no way at all scratch the arena/dueling itch

I've had the exact same conversation at least 10 times. It always devolves into me trying to convince them that open world pvp is also a ton of fun but some people just cannot be swayed.

Open world AvAvA is a lot of fun and provides for many unique types of engagements. Sadly though, 9/10 engagements end via the zerg.... it gets frustrating.

Arena pvp would be great I'm all for it. On PS4 I just don't see the point yet although it's just been non vet. As a guild we capped every keep we attempted and defended and pushed back successfully everyone we tried to. Log on following night and they're lost again. Sure we won the battle previously but we as a guild will never win the war and by the look of it our entire faction would be incapable (d.c ). Arena would allow some competitive action vs other guilds with an actual result that night. Nothing wrong with having options . All I see in cyrodil maps are yellow keeps in abundance. Kinda off putting knowing success is a numbers game and we are the minority. We actually have rival guilds from another game in different factions . Would've really enjoyed mashing them up (hopefully) in eso looks like it won't happen though unless we organize a skirmish on a 3d party site and even then it would just be an open world fight with no scoring and no group limits. Needing a 3rd party site is ridiculous enough in itself but that's another discussion

And that's why this game failed on PC.

World of Warcraft set the standard on PC. Veteran WoW players are going to expect what they've been accustomed too on MMORPGS. That is Dueling, some sort of Battleground, and competitive arena modes. You can't even inspect other players (Lol).

This game will never progress just as Guild Wars 2 and other "WoW killers" have attempted. Why? Because they stray away from the proven to work formula. ESO is not in any shape or form a WoW clone, nor does it have to be. Look at RIFT and how it has failed, they tried to copy WoW a bit too much. ESO does not need to be another WoW, But it does very well have to incorporate expected functionality that WoW has set the standard for in order to succeed.

I just want some sort of PVP with set team sizes and no siege.

I wouldn't want anything to take from the PVP in cyrodiil so maybe make arenas have a timer.
