So I'm on X1 and am running a stamina based dunmer nightblade. I'm getting to the point where I can start crafting some partial sets for my gear i.e. 1-2 traits on most of my medium armor and weapons. I'm leaning toward night's embrace for the stamina boost and regen, but ashen grip seems awesome for the increased weapon crit and damage. Can someone give me some advice?

Ashen grip is the best crafted set early on for a melee or bow damage dealer.

At higher levels (once you've researched more traits), look into night mother's gaze and hunding's rage. For a very long time now my nightblade has been running 5pc hunding's rage and 3 pc night mother's gaze for massive boosts to weapon damage and critical rating. Running around a 50% critical chance on my 2handers right now, slightly higher with my bow.
    PS4 / NA
    M'asad - Khajiit Nightblade - Healer
Pakhet - Khajiit Dragonknight - Tank
Raksha - Khajiit Sorcerer - Stamina DPS
Bastet - Khajiit Templar - Healer
Leonin - Khajiit Warden - Tank

So I shouldn't worry about running out of stamina without the mitigation I get from the night's silence set?

You wont be getting much stamina recovery from armor sets. Your racials and class/weapon skills will determine how efficient you are with that stamina bar, nightblades can get 30% passive stamina recovery from the shadow tree and another 10% from assassination. At higher levels, you can pick up siphoning strikes and never have to worry about your resource pools again.

Your set bonuses should be geared towards raising max stamina, weapon damage, and critical chance. Bonus weapon damage is particularly hard to come by, so any set bonus or jewelry you find with increased weapon damage is worth using - it will effect not only your light/heavy weapon attacks but also any ability that uses stamina, like surprise attack, ambush, or killer's blade.

    So much missinformation...

If you apply a bonus of 30% to 0 stamina regeneration, you still have 0. You need stamina regeneration bonuses for the class multiplier to get effective. Because of the class multiplier, the set bonuses become more effective.

The best is to go 5 piece nights silence for the sneak bonus if you are not vampire. Add to that ashen grip pieces as much as you can. If you are vampire and have dark stalker unlocked, go with 4/4 plus weapons. You can add on to that from another set tut supplies either stamina or weapon damage.
