I've already started character I wanna go strictly healing. I'm not sure what would be best gear do I go light, medium, or heavy. Also do you think I should throw all my points into magic or spread them out between the 3 categories and throw some in health or stamina? Any tips would be appreciated. Thanks everyone

for leveling, just level with at least 1 piece of each type of armour on at all times. once you level up light armour and get the passives, that's when you can start using more light armour for the bonuses. for dungeon healing, i've used 7 light since i started my templar.

when i started the game, i put points evenly across all stats as i was using a 2h. then moved to 1h/shield. put points where you find yourself lacking because you can always respec. you can always get gear to augment the stat you are missing as well.

i leveled as many weapon lines as i could. definitely need resto staff leveled.

For a healer, split 3 points in magicka and 1 in health, repeat as you level. Wear either 7 pieces of light armor, or 5 pieces with a heavy chest + heavy shoulders for extra survivability (you can use any 2 slots, bit I prefer chest and shoulders for looks).

    Obviously use a Resto staff.

I'd say it depends on how aggressive your playstyle is. Are you going to be in the frontlines potentially in the middle of the action? I'd put some points towards health. If you are going to sit back away from danger and heal everyone Id dump all to magika.

Im not an expert, but that would make sense to me.

First off, You really want to feel the class out as much as possible before dedicating to a certain archetype.
Secondly, if you do use builds suggested by the community, tweak them as needed; do not stick to a specific nulls if it is not working for you, there are tons of variations on a theme.
Thirdly, do not restrict yourself to only healing. Why? If you are only healing then there is a lot of wasted time you are not utilizing. Healers snake on magika, Just like mages, so use that to your advantage and dish out some damage when you don't need to heal anyone.
Finally if this is your first play through just learn the mechanics and, as @TheSunAlsoRises stated, level up all armor routes at once. You will discover where your weak spots are and which armor to use to compensate.
A lot of healers use 5 light and 2 heavy for extra health. I, however, terms to run out of stamina as I dodge more often than not when necessary and would rather not be the guy stuck in a red instskill circle when I need to heal people.
