CASTING SPELLS

Hi all another noob question (well I have played skyrim but this is different)

I am a dark elf but don't think that matters but I have been playing through the game and now at level 12 but still haven't been able to cast a spell in combat like the fire and ice spells you used to do in skyrim instead of equipping a weapon you used magic. So I'm now trying to find out how's do that now on eso I play this on xbox one also so advise on how to do it on this format would be helpful.

You won't pick up spells like that like you did in Skyrim. Instead, you will use your class skills along with whatever weapon you are using. You can put these skills on your skill bar, and don't need to equip them to your hands.

As such, you can wield a sword and shield, or dual-wield, or use a two handed weapon, etc. and still use magic. You just need to slot the abilities to your skill bar.

Aahh right I take it that within each ability dual wield etc there is a option for this unlocked via skill points?

Your class skills are completely independent from your weapon skills. You should be able to gain one skill from each of your three class skill lines as soon as you enter the game and gain a skill point.
