I was just wondering if someone could give me a brief explination of the mechanics behind PVP. I am new to ESO.... but have had a lot of experience of playing characters built for PVP on MMORPG's, as well as playing Elder Scrolls games for the last 13 years, and I just don't get the mechanics behind the PVP. There is no where in game where these mechanics are explained and as to why character stats are so dramatically altered.
Before I started my character I leveled each character class to level 10 to give me a rough idea on what class I would prefer to play, so I could feel investing my time into the character would he a worth while experience. I settled for the Templar class purely on versitility, and also because of the prospect of future respec that could completely change my game play.
I researched and learnt what I could about ESO build fundimentals on the way I wished to play, and decided I was going to play my Templar as a Primary Healer/Secondary Mage hybrid, and placed all of my attribute point within Magica, as I kind assumed that Magica would be what my character would be in constant need of, especially playing a farcasting role. This is where I started to become baffled behind the fundimentals of PVP......
I reached level 15 and gained my secondary skill bar. My first skill bar was pretty much all healing abilities, some of which from the Templar's healing skill line Restoring Light, the rest coming from my Restiration staff skill tree. Using a Restiration staff.
My secondary skill bar contained yet again a Restiration staff, but my skills this time contained skills taken from the Dawn's Wrath skill line.... with one instant cast healing skill there purely for situations where I would require to heal quickly and using my controllers dpad would waste valuable seconds that could save my life or a team mates. Both skill sets had Nova as an Ultimate as I was informed it can be a devistating DOT attack, and am fond of DOT spells.
I set my gear up to have exclusively magica gaining stat increases, wanting to increasey magica to the highest possible range to ensure I'm never too low on magica reserves. I went for light armour because of the magic bonus with the Light Armour skill tree.
I went into PVP with a friend, aware that my low level character and mediocre gear probably wouldn't hold up that well, but knew there would be others in the same situation, most of which would unlikely have the natural talent for PVP that I possessed, thinking it would be interesting, could get a few kills, and get my first taste of things to come.
My first hour or two I did OKAY, gained about 10k AP, wasn't too displeased with... but then I realised upon looking at my character screen that my stat numbers had greatly increased, and this was where I actually started to become really confused.
My PVE stats where as follows:
Max Magica - 5740
Max Health - 3809
Max Stamina - 2988
Magica Recovery - 271
Health Recovery - 113
Stamina Recovery - 118
Spell Damage - 326
Spell Critical - 10%
Spell Resistance - 712
Weapon Damage - 312
Weapon Critical - 10%
Physical Resistance - 712
But my PVP stats where completely different, in ways I couldn't understand, also as follows:
Max Magica - 15139
Max Health - 28860
Max Stamina - 15139
Magica Recovery - 671
Health Recovery - 363
Stamina Recovery - 589
Spell Damage - 1198
Spell Critical - 10%
Spell Resistance - 8162
Weapon Damage - 1141
Weapon Critical - 10%
Physical Resistance - 8162
This is all with an attribute distribution of:
Magica - 14
Health - 0
Stamina - 0
I maybe would have got the fundimentals if all of my numbers where at a 300% increase to my PVE stats.... but the fact that with 0 health attributes my health was my highest number by far, also seeing as I had 0 stamina and that number was identical to my magica, I really just couldn't understand it.
Not only that.... I then realised that even if I took all of my armour of which had magica enchantments... my magica stayed the same -.-
Another thing that also got to me a bit, was on my roaming travels, I would come across some players around my own level, and would completely destroy them. Also destroying someone 1 vs 1 who was level 26, 11 levels greater than me.
But other times I would come across people similar levels to me, that would almost seem invincible in comparison.
I am aware through my years playing MMORPG's that it is likely on ESO you can create "TOON" characters as such, like with most MMO's.... but these guys where at a scale that I just could not understand and a complete other level. These guys seemed to be mainly Nightblade's and Sorcerers.... but I had also came across both these class types and had no problems defeating them using simple tactics that can be employed with any MMO.
If someone could explain why I've found these problems and the fundimentals of what I am doing wrong it would be a great help.
And if someone has actually taken the time to read all of this I applaud you and give you many thanks.
I am aware I'm a very low level, and most likely have some of the worst gear imaginable which is why I could be getting dropped like I'm nothing by experienced players even my own level with better gear etc.. but just cannot understand the stat system mainly and why my dedication to magica has counted for nothing.
Once again many thanks if you can HELP!
