So let me start off and explain I've been playing the game from launch in 1st person mode, and I've played all other TES titles this way as well. I'm realizing now that I'm likely putting myself in a bad position in Cyrodiil playing this way. Not being able to see what's going on behind me with ease is getting me ambushed quite a bit. But do any others play in 1st person? And for those that play in 3rd person, how far out do you typically zoom? I've been trying to play in 3rd person, but I cannot get use to it. I keep missing targets a whole lot, missing enemy aura/glowing. Getting kind of motion sick playing with always having to spin the camera. Any tips?

Ya the 1st person was just added for the es O G's.
3Rd person is better by far. Pan all the way out. When panned to close ur character and weapon will consume to much screen space.
    Alliance: EP/ALD
    PSN: JG_iLLo
    Class: DK/DK
    RACE: RedGuard/Bosmer
Normal play time. Mon-thur Fri (6 pm to 12 am) Sat-Sun (day an night)

    The bad news:

I was the same for a long time. However, due to the lack of inherent feedback ("Hey genius, you're standing in some lava.") and the fact that the let 3rd person see other players 360 degrees, not just the red, you're pretty well obligated to learn to switch.

(To be fair, the 3rd person types should be able to see the telegraphs, but should be 180 degree limited to seeing players)

    The good news:
Since you started out first person, both in the games prior and in this one, you're likely a lot more situationally and spacially aware than most of your third person buddies. This will help you in third person even more.

Also, you'll be used to playing both. It's a lot easier to go from first to third than from third to first, believe me.

    The final news:
Since they introduced the ability to 'sight in' your character in third person (Settings/Camera/horizontal and Vertical offset), you can adjust your target reticle to a position that feels about right to you. Make the changes a little at a time. This is probably why you're missing targets.

(Find the spot on the screen where you think your aim should be hitting and then adjust the offsets until it is so.)

This will take some time and fine tuning, but makes a huge difference once you've found your sweet spot (write the numbers down, btw) (Practice this in PvE areas until you have it tuned.)

Last little 3rd person hint: When in Cyrodiil, turn off grass in your video settings. Nothing more irritating than trying to target someone on a keep wall and getting a facefull or daffodils and Kentucky Blue Grass filling your screen.

Generally, once you're used to it, zoom out all the way for maximum view, unless a great oak, rock outcropping, or tower happens to obscure your view. And, in the tight quarters (hallways, etc), you can always temp switch back to 1st person - your enemies will likely never do this.

    Good luck and enjoy.

EDIT: Regarding the motion sickness, etc. Adjust your turn rate (don't recall the actual setting name) slower and turn off transition effects (head bobb and that fish-eye-zoom-when-you-sprint thing) to help.

Just because you don't like the way something is doesn't necessarily make it wrong...

Well, after a month, still no luck getting use to it. I get a massive headache while playing, and fighting in PvP I manage to lose where my character is! Hah! I keep trying, but I just might be a 1st only type player. I see the benefits though. It's extremely helpful to detect AoE/siege weapons.
