Templar... Best race?

What race would you choose for a Templar? The main things I want to do is DPS in pvp and heal/help my friends in PVE? I'm leaning towards Breton, HE, or Imperial but can't decide. HE more damage, Imperial has option to go Stamina if I ever want to respect... so tough to decide for a new guy! Thanks

currently bosmer the 21% stam reg is absolutly awesome, but i guess it will not stay that way.

Think there is a change next update their Magicka DPS will be increased? All I hear is that they suck at DPS unfortunately

I must admit they'r in a better place than they've ever been since release, but not quite there yet

You can just go stamina-based with an Imperial. It's very good.

Stamina, either Bosmer, Imperial or Redguard.
Magicka, either Altmer or Breton.

What do you guys think between Altmer or Breton if I'm going to be grouping 99% of the time with 2 friends (meaning healing and hopefully some DPS)?

if you want to heal and DPS, Breton is the only choice.

Breton is the best healing race, and all its passive can be usefull as CASTER-DPS . Healer and Caster beneficiate from the same stat and same equipment (atleast to start with), so you will have no problem to switch from one role to the other and you will not need to respec.
Templar caster can be very good at DPSing, it's one of the most powerful DPS build created by Deltia.

Today I got pestered by another player who was wondering why I was tanking with a Dunmer DK. I told him I made that character because I enjoyed it, and that I might make a magicka build in the future but right now was focusing on tanking, and he kept coming back saying that Dunmer is "supposed" to be only for magicka DKs, while stamina DKs should be Imperial.

If this goes on, I hope they remove racial feats entirely.

TL;DR: If you want to min/max, go for whatever the current meta is. If you want to have fun, go for whatever race you take pleasure in playing.

I have a V1 dunmer DK that I just turned into a tank....

It may not be the min/maxers choice, but its still very good for tanks I reckon..... extra 9% magicka, 6% stamina, fire resist.... all useful stuff for a tank.
.. & can then be a dps as well.... hell, extra magicka it could even be a healer at a push!

I sometimes get similar reactions with my Khajiit templar (tank), but when that 3500 hp regen tics in and bosses in VR dungeons are barely hurting me I can't help but laugh at my encounters.

Bretton for Magika
Imperial for max Stamina DPS and survivability when mele
Redguard for good stamina DPS and best mele Stam regen (probably best sustainable Stam DPS)
Bosmer decent for stamina dps and best ranged stam regen.

A character can change between a magika and stamina build but can not be optimized for both. The character can only be optimized for one or the other, but still have fun in either.

The easiest way to kill me has always just been to fully heavy attack me with a bow.

lol what? I tanked everything with my dunmer DK, I usually add alot of dps to, and after dungeons regualarry get added to friendlists, nobody has ever complained
that person is just misinformed, jes a imp DK might be slightly better, but its nothing game changing

I've also tanked everything with my argonian templar, also without having people ever complain
player skill and a competent group is way more important though, min maxing only really matters for fastest trail runs for scoreboard #1 (wich I couldn't care less about) or might give u an edge 1v1 in pvp (but its mostly group battles anyways)

I rolled a Imperial Templar healer, I just assumed I could put a lot more points towards Magika because of the stam and health racials. I plan on doing dungeons and some pvp healing in the end.

The racials aren't make or break at end game are they?

breton imperial or redguard just like every class except sorcerer

If you go magicka dps choose breton or HE, if you go stamina dps imperial is the best race because the health bonus feeds into blazing shield. Stamina dps doesn't play well with healer. So if you are serious about being a healer go magicka dps.

Good to know, I dont have anywhere near enough time to get to the elite level in this game but also didnt want to be useless cos I chose the wrong race etc.

Imperial gives the most flexibility for changing your spec. If you want to do magica dps and heal, then Breton is a good option. Personally, I choose Breton/Imperial for my primary characters due to being generally more well-rounded (and I like to change specs a lot).

The problem with some of the other races is that while their benefits may be very good, they are often more specialized for specific roles (ex..Bosmer, Altmer, Redguard, Nord all have good passives that preferentially fill a specific role).
