You do realize there's deaf gamer playing on console?

I'm one of the deaf player and I'm a little frustrated with the lack of subtitles in the game. Maybe I didn't pay attention enough but...

Is there a options or something that can turn on subtitles? I need it to understand npc. I stopped playing in the tutorial because I couldn't understand what the lady npc in the beginning were saying.

Please let me know. I waited long time for this game to come out. Not every deaf players plays PC.

I can see how that would really suck.

I was irritated about not text chat.. because I don't want to have to rely on voice chat. But actually not being able to play the game because it's missing... ZoS needs to step up and fix this!

Wow... that's terrible. I hope they fix it. It's nonsensical for any game in this day and age not to have subtitles... there is no reason not to have a setting to be able to turn them on / off.

I really hope they fix it.

On a side note, you should come play on PC anyway

I play on both.
On PC I'm using an addon that displays subtitles for all NPC's.
On PS4 I have not seen any setting to display subtitles.

There are full subtitles in the PC game, so I'm sure they are available as an option in the console version as well. However, note that voice chat is really crucial to group play in their current game design. Unless the developers reconsider their design choice of leaving text chat out of the game, you will be at a significant disadvantage in group play.
Having said that, most of the game is perfectly enjoyable alone, but solo play might not be the reason why you chose to play an MMO.

Edit: Judging from some other posts on this topic in the forum, it seems that they removed the subtitles that were in the console beta at the same time they threw out text chat for no good reason. So, outside of the main dialogs, you have no way of knowing what the NPCs say during a quest. Bad move, I'd say.

There was no information about having no subtitles or text chat in game. So we blindly bought the ESO out of excitement. You're saying that you won't be having text chat in game? Thats fine, we always find a way to communicate with other players and effectively follow them.

But subtitles with npc are crucial to us. We have to understand the story so we can enjoyably play the game. Besides, Text chat have been with mmorpg for a really long time and it's part of the mmo. If you're think console are better off, then at least give us subtitles? A lot of people like to solo even in Mmo.

Last night, I COULD NOT find subtitles in the options even if PC only have them, but I couldn't find the option to turn on subtitles in console.

Edit: there are some a lot of people that couldn't understand what people said even if his hearing are better than mine. Just fyi. You should at least add subtitles and text chat for the deaf people to communicate. It's not that hard. Or maybe add a title as. "Deaf player" in the option so people understand and help out much more effectively.

Edit #2: even if it's disadvantage for us in console, maybe you should at least make it advantage for us by adding text chat and subtitles? We paid for the game to play, you're just gonna skip over it and not listen? Thats an *** move.

And everyone told them both were a bad move. They went ahead and got rid of them anyways.

And I still want the subtitles. Fix it. It's not even that hard. Ps4 doesn't have any fancy pancy add-ons like PC do.

I could but I have no money, and no place to play PC. 500 dollars was the cheapest I can get and it's small enough for me to set it on top of my dresser. I'm fortunate enough to play games on console. I would absolutely love to play PC, but money is a issue nowadays.

Subtitles are the most important part of the games. It's been a while since forever. Almost every mmo has it. Even Destiny has Subtitles on ps4 without text chat. Even skyrim has subtitles. Why would you remove it? There will always be a setting that can offer optional to either hide it or show it. Please bring back the subtitles. It's not that hard. We paid for the game, and we're expecting subtitles to be part of it in options or setting.

Somewhere in the new PS4 update there's an Accessibility setting that is supposed to be a universal subtitle toggle. I have mine turned on, but I don't remember specifically if it worked in ESO.

Have you tried ESO's twitter/facebook or email support so they can know about this issue? It's ridiculous they don't have NPC subtitles and it's making it difficult for you to play the game. I like subtitles even though I can hear fine, so I would like for them to fix this too.

BTW I'm still downloading the damn game on the PS4. 25hrs left. I'm lucky if I can play tomorrow.

The PS4 (and other consoles) have
Motherboard,
CPU,
GPU,
Ram,
HDD,
etc

The fact that you cannot upgrade something inside doesn't mean that it is not present. Consoles weren't meant to be upgradable like PC's. The only thing you can upgrade (increasing capacity) is the HDD.

Are you going to tell me that the consoles do magic and run games without CPU, GPU, Ram inside it?

There are enough bugs with the PC version as well, trust me.
Most game breaking once are finally out (after +1 year) but there are still many annoying ones. And performance is very poor on PC as well.

I appreciate your help with PC. But I have no room to put them. I just moved here from different state. I can't afford anything as of rents and bills. I'm trying to save money so I can get my own place. I appreciate what you're trying to do. But to be honest, I like console better than pc. It's easier and more fun for me.

I'll look into it, but my first thought was to have the audio patched into something with Dragon Speech recording and typing it out. Don't know how well it would function so I'll test it on a few devices. Siri, CPU (older) with mic, tablet and whatever else I can get my hands on. I'll check back tomorrow.

ZoS should seriously be a little more empathetic of issues like this. While I realize they can't make the game work for EVERYONE... Adding Subtitles and a Text Chat should be a NO BRAINER as they should be in game anyways...

Lol you would think but this company is unlike any I have ever seen. It's sad they had a hit on their hands and not only fumbled it on pc seems they will do the same on console!

Sad to say I think they knew they had a hit and just took it for granted that people would be like ok we like this game so much
never mind that it is lacking basic features!

I honestly don''t understand it really, I don't play console but I feel for you guys as Iv'e been on pc with no new content for six months! Sad to say I'd rather read the forums than play the game until something new comes out for the pc players.
