Your favourite class and why...

BurSkills
BurSkills
Hey all,

New to ESO, I have built a Breton Sorc for ps4. I have watched a number of videos on the classes/builds available and this one looks the coolest by far, in my opinion obviously.

What is your favourite class/build and why? I want to hear cool stories you have...
  • freedom3128
Good morning everyone. My favorite class and build would have been a khajiit nightblade but I needed to switch it up. I decided to go healer for this game because hardly anyone wants to be a healer. Besides, there will always be a deman for healers in the game. Right now I am rocking a Breton Templar focusing on restoration staff and destruction staff.

If anyone needs a healer for the group feel free to add me on PS4 ESO at freedom3128. Right now I am only level 7 but I plan to power level the rest of the week. See you all online.

Favourite class? Nightblades, by a longshot. Taking a dk os just taking the easy way out. Press a few buttons here and there booms! Good dps.

I love how all the classes can go any roles depending on your weapons and builds. I find that Nightblades are really awesome with the tank setup and definitely the bow. Picking off your enemies one by one in dungeons are ao satisfying, much more than just impulse / inhale / solar barrage / or any other aoe setups.

    Yes I know.

I personally wanted to go for a Nightblade as it really appealed to me. But none of the features took my fancy.

Running up to the enemy and clobbering him didnt seem fun. Whereas a Sorcerer seemed to be more diverse with "more ways to kill the enemy" if that makes sense? Spells/Storms/Weapons/Summons.

Or is there more to the NB im missing out on? I really want to sell the NB to myself as its more "me", but having difficulty convincing myself its fun.

I tried so many ways to kill.

Ive used lotus fan - mass hysteria - steel tornado - killer's blade

Reaper's mark - focused aim - poison injection - Crippling Grasp.

Bombard - scorched earth - soul tether

As a tank, I would use sap essence with siphoning attacks, coupled with refreshing path, spam deep slash and killer's blade. I. Will. Not. Die.

I used 2 handers, cloak, sneak in and one shot mobs with wrecking blow, mass hysteria then critical charge in, cloak, wrecking blow. I crit upwards of 14k at lvl 40 at the initial onslaught.

Magic? Cloak, spam funnel health, impale when execute. Clench when enemies come near or fear them if too many.

An active based tank type of warrior? Take relentless focus, shielded charge, weave heroic slash with heavy attacks. Keep leeching strikes up and use a dagger ( I know its weird but trust me.) for that additional crit chance. Use Mirage whenever life is low, and bash that mob down to the ground.

U have shadowy image which gives you huge mobility in PvP, while keeping your enemies maimed. You have mass fear, a dodge ability like hist bark without the need to block. You have one of the best ways for resource management abilities in the game.

Im not saying the other classes are bad. NBs are just awesome if you know how to use them. Ive tanked vet bosses before with just defensive posture, siphoning attacks, swallow soul and refreshing path up. All I do is light attack once the bufd for ult is down. Then I use bolstering darkness that reduces 60% damage. 60%! Thats huge!

    Am I selling it right?

you can build any class to be any play style. you could have a nightblade mage with destruction staff. a bow wielding sorc. a healing DK.

I feel like DK is the most versatile, excellent tank and DPS, can also heal pretty well.

    Ok yeah, SOLD!

That all sounds pretty damn awesome but im new to the game so im yet to learn what a lot of them abilities do.

Out of curiosity, what weapons do you use other than the bow? Is it possible to max multiple weapons? Or would you have to sacrifice some abilities to do so? Like do you have a limited number of skill points to spread across weapons, skills and abilities?
  • RavenSworn

You can max all weapons lines, class lines and guild lines. The question is what weapons will you use. In the course of my trip to v6, I have max sword and shield, dual wield, two hander and bow. Ive maxed guild lines and the undaunted.

However the trick is to have points for the build. The ability to respec is there, use it. Once you've maxed a weapon line, change weapons. Then rinse and repeat. Use your levelling time to learn the best rotation for yourself. Dont just copy stuff from the net.

Ive tried changing from range physical dps, to mix melee range to pure melee to tanking. Having all these options would be crucial to your learning curve on any class you take. Do quests, bring down anchors, do delves, solo the public dungeons. Change your build according to the situation.

Now im not sure if you are on the pc or console. Use addons such as Ftc, addons by Harven, the "slightly improved" series. Im sorry if you are console though, read all details is the best advice I can give you.

    Magicka NB.
    -most attacks heal you.
-lots of annoying buff and rebuffs.
-good escape. Yeah I do not mind cloak.
-best ultimate generation in the game. To bad that after 1.6 they are all kind of crappy.
-major expedition in 10 thousand places. Magicka Nb has the most mobile game play I think. I can be anywhere, change targets fast and get out fast.
-Best resource management in the game at the moment and this even if you ignore Siphoning Attacks I.(mainly because ZOS efed up dks)
-can go from full dps to heals/support very easily.

Awesome. Going to give it a shot when I get home tonight!

Is it important to evenly distribute magicka, stamina and health too? Apart from the obvious, how do each of them benefit the NB?

I'm on ps4 by the way uniq.

Wow, thanks for this. I have 4 characters I've made since getting the game on console launch. Mainly to have a dab at each starting area and class to see what I like. My Khajiit NB is now level 10 and think will definitely be my main. My only worry was I was starting to wonder if it got more variety in it.

At the moment I generally go invisible, hit the power that stuns for 4 seconds, then the dual wield attack that gives a Hot and either the NB attack that heals or just a heavy attack if the enemies health is low. Wasn't sure how much I could switch it up as I go but will definitely use your post as a reference so thanks!

    This right here. ^^^

It's like walking a tightrope (particularly since I'm melee) because 1 mistake and you're dead.

But when you get it right, you get it OOOOOOOH so right.

I have a Dunmer DK healer/dps, a Khajiit Templar healer/dps, and an Imperial Templar tank that might end up as just a stamina dps.

I love the flexibility of this game in its roles of the holy trinity. Healing is my favorite role and I enjoy the styles of both DK and Templar. The flexibility of the DK healer to also dps is great for switching between solo and dungeons. The magicka Templar is great for any role too. I find stamina dps to be less flexible in its approach, especially where utility is concerned, but beating on mobs with a giant sword is just too much fun.

Depending on your build, go either stamina or magicka. I'd suggest a 1:3 ratio of health : stamina / magicka. Ypu can always reset your attributes if you feel you are not making much headway in the dps department or if you die too easily but imo dont go beyond this ratio.

But remember to use all resources given, so if you are a stamina build, use magicka abilities that gives you utility or survival and vice versa. I have to say the NBs benefit most from stamina builds but dont Morph all abilities to stamina build so much so you dont use your magicka.

Ive seen stamina NBs use degeneration ( from the mages guild skill line) to help with abit of spell power and utility. Explore, experiment and enjoy.
