Templar build opinion for returning player

GamerSinclair
Hello, after months of absence from the game(damn pc cant handle the game....) I am finally returning with the ps4 release and have come up with a Templar build in honor of my old pc Templar. I intend to make a 5H/2L sword and shield tank/support-ish build. here are the plans for this build.
Race: Altmer
faction: Ebonheart(yes gasp in horror at an anti-AD Altmer.)
Stats:5S/15M/29H(the basic 49)
skills:
1: shielded charge(mini damage shield)
2: puncturing sweep(dmg with a small heal)
3: pierce armor( no spell res for you)
4: radiant glory(swap with blazing shield when needed)
5: radiant aura(boosted regen for me and allies)
Ultimate: remembrance(healing ultimate. be kind to healers)
armor sets:
3 ashen grip( weapon dmg increase and hp)
3 nights silence( max stam and regen)
3 seducer(max magicka and regen)
Divine stone: lover(increased spell res)
If you notice there is no second weapon listed. That's because I'm currently undecided on that. Might not go with one at all to save some skill points for other things.
This is mostly a PVE build as PVP is just a small hobby with where I go in with what I have and if I kill someone, awesome and if not, oh well.
I look forward to opinions. Also to possible flamers, go ahead I'll use your flames to cook my dinner.

You have 62 attribute points now at V14.

I recommend against using any channelled ability as a Tank. Channelling means you aren't blocking, and not blocking means taking much more damage than you need to.

There's not much point in gap closers in PvE. If you want a damage shield go with Sun Shield, it's much stronger.

Radiant Aura is trash. The buffs it gives do not stack with potion buffs, so if you're drinking potions (especially tripots) it's almost completely useless. Go with Repentance instead, although if you have a Templar healer they should be using it.

So in terms of your skills, the only one I'd keep is Pierce Armour. Everything else can be replaced with far more useful tanking skills, such as:

Channelled Focus. Armour and Spell Resistance buff plus magicka return. You definitely want the magicka return especially if you use Sun Shield.

Defensive Posture. You mainly want this for the passive block mitigation and cost bonuses.

Sun Shield. Good to save your healer's magicka or some clutch mitigation if you're out of stamina or something. Remember that shields do not benefit from mitigation so blocking while shielded doesn't reduce damage taken, although it still prevents you from being CCed.

Low Slash. Damage mitigation is huge. Use it on a boss with AoEs and you mitigate damage for the entire group.

Caltrops. Great AoE damage and also pulls a lot of aggro. This is the closest thing to an AoE taunt in ESO.

Inner Fire. A ranged taunt is very important. Can be morphed to use stamina if you prefer. Keep this on your second weapon bar.

Empowering Sweep. Cheap, good damage and provides damage mitigation. A very solid choice for Templar tanks whether clearing trash or tanking bosses.

Nova. Great damage and damage mitigation. More general purpose than Remembrance, although I'd probably keep both on different weapon bars.

Blazing Spear. Unfortunately you can't eat your own shards, but it's a strong AoE attack and also pulls some aggro. If you build more towards magicka you can spam this during trash pulls to contribute DPS.

Repentance. If you don't have a Templar healer using this then it's a good idea for you to use it, especially if you're using Engine Guardian as you can eat the sphere's corpse for stamina.

Breath of Life. While you don't want to use this often, having the option is very important especially if the healer is dead or otherwise occupied.

In terms of set bonuses, 5p Footman is the "gold standard" as it provides 12% extra blocking mitigation. If you want to go with Seducer I suggest you go all the way to 5p for the 8% reduced magicka costs. You probably also want an Undaunted set such as 2p Bloodspawn or 2p Engine Guardian.

For your Mundus, go with something that boosts your attributes or regeneration. Lover doesn't do much.

As a Tank, your second weapon set should also be 1H and Shield, with one set using Pierce Armour and the other using Inner Fire as taunts. You never want to be without blocking mitigation so anything else is unacceptable (with the possible exception of Restoration staff, except you're a Templar so that's unacceptable too).
